I've just been stuck in a YouTube trap and stumbled across this... It's my dads band from the 70's! I've got the 7 inch record here at home but I had no idea there were any others in circulation. It's had over 2000 views too! I thought I was the only one (apart from my dad and brother) who would care about this song?

And would you believe, there it is! On CD on Amazon. I'm pretty sure my dad would know absolutely nothing about this even though he wrote the song.

I had a look last night to see if I could find any pictures of the band as he used to take his camera everywhere and has recently scanned in a load of negatives. Unfortunately, the only picture I could find was one of the lead singer in his personalised one sleeved leather jacket! You should see this thing, tassels, studs... the lot... except it's only got one sleeve! It's amazing.

I've found a picture of Sweaty Betty and that awesome, one armed leather jacket. My dad is the one on the far left.

He is indeed! He went on to front another couple of bands and enjoyed a relatively small success in the industry. I don't think he made much money from it though.

He's probably making more money from the chain of expensive and trendy yoga wear shops now...

It's good but not as good as her Fish Finger Pie / Sandwich.

I'm a particular fan of her egg cooking. All the recommendations on eggs say to cook them 2/3rds out of the water in a pan of water that appears to be superheated by a uranium fuel rod.

Craster, Gaywood and I have often threatened to do a YouTube cooking show.

The Shamen are on Amazon Music so I downloaded them having liked them a fair bit when the albums first came out.

Fuck me they are absolute shite in the main. Boss Drum is really, really embarassing. Just Google any of the lyrics - I think Space Time is my favourite because they've clearly read 3 pages of "A Brief History of Time" and then written a song about it.

Mr C is possibly the worst rapper in the history of shit rappers and "Comin' on" is no greater example of this. He does this awful Ras Trent "ting" throughout that is excruciating and contains such lyrics as

"Yes here we come and we spiritually strong
We comin with de right and de wrong
So negative people can run and galong
With positivity in a de situation"

Etc.

But googling that I then discovered Jason Statham painted gold, in his pants sort of dancing to the video. It's hypnotic.

I still like 'Move Any Mountain' by them. For two reasons -

1) it reminds me of Peep Show
2) it reminds me of Under Logic from Streets of Rage 2

I remember when that was called Pro>Gen. This was all fields back then.

(I bought the entire CD that was just remixes of that song. 20 odd year old me was a FUCKING idiot)

i have a soft spot for them still, though my favourite Shamen track is still Possible Worlds, all tranced out bliss and that.
