Still coming back to the size of these new maps - playing domination there are just so many sniping points over each flag its really hard to capture if they are being defended - and demolition is just as bad.

New class i've been using for them works well just because you can move really quickly around the map

Lightweight Pro / Steady-aim Pro / Marathon Pro
Dual KIPARIS / with pistol as secondary
Semtex / Smoke / Tac insertion

Marthon and Lightweight get you from one side of the map to the other 'quickly' and spraying the Kiparis in the general direction of whoever you run into work fine as long as you avoid the large open areas (middle of the Hotel level is bad but you can run around inside the casino's and the sun bed area at the side killing everyone who comes close).

Sounds good to have some large maps though. Will make a nice change from running around with the shotgun. Might be able to snipe on more than just array.

It is double XP this weekend although none of the news sites seem to have it listed.

With its help however I've finally got to the 15th level only to find the animated background costs 25,000 so that'll be waiting around for a while :-)

Third Black Ops DLC out June 28 at 1,200 Microsoft Points

The third map pack for Black Ops will go live on June 28, a promotional poster for the DLC sent to VG247 by a UK retail source has shown.

The pack, known as Annihilation, will go on sale first on Xbox Live – per the agreement between Activision and Microsoft that all Call of Duty DLC will come to XBL as timed exclusives – for 1200 MS points. This has been the price for all of the map packs released so far for the Treyarch shooter.

Annihilation will come with four new competitive maps: Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard, as well as a new Zombies map.

You can find the full image below. Black Ops has seen two map packs to date: First Strike back in February and Escalation in April, the latter of which only launched on PS3 last week.

I only just bought the last one and have played on it precisely twice.

Think I'll give this one a miss.

IN OTHER NEWS!!!!

I will be playing CoD on Sunday, as it is Father's Day, and I have chosen XBox Time as my present.

:D

Thats just because you've only played on your xbox twice in the last 3 months :-)

On the last pack - the maps were a little big for normal games although objective based stuff works - and after a while the Zombies map has grown on me (just took more time avoiding George).

My problem is that i dont get any more XP :-)

Nice - which Cod and what time ?

I also loaded up MW2 the other day and prestiged (although I cant remember what half the perks and stuff do any more)
And I tried MW1 to find its been taken over by modding people , every game I joined had spam over the map (join this website / forum) and the killcams show people with quick firing unlimited grenade launcher ammo for their gun :-(

Zombies !!

Anyway - thanks for the games tonight and not sure who that Curio person was.

Hints for Zombies mode on any map :

On the first level shoot the zombies about 4 or 5 times with your pistol and then knife them for 180 points each (shots are with 10 knife kill 130 whereas a simple kill shot is only 50) , the first 2 levels are only 7 zombies each so if you want you can let them break down the barriers and come in - if you dont you cannot get any of the powerups - you also get points for repairing barriers.

By about level 3 you'll want to have switched to another weapon and be hitting them once or twice with it and then knifing (or trying for headshots with it from a distance) - if you do have any pistol ammo left its free points for slamming it into them but be careful (2 hits in a short period will knock you down)

By the end of level 4 or 5 you should have enough cash to go off and unlock stuff on the level - ideally leave one or two zombies alive when your doing this so the next level wont start until you kill them.

Powerups on Zombies are :

Ammo box : Max ammo (gives you max ammo for all guns)
Nuke : Kaboom (kills all zombies spawned on the current level)
2x : Double points (double points)
Skull : Instakill (zombies die with 1 hit - switch to knife for most points)
Bullets : Deathmachine - deathmachine with 500 bullets for around 60 seconds
Hammer : Carpenter - repairs all barriers

On most maps you want to get a better basic weapon (any SMG will be fine) , get the power on , get the upgraded 'knife' for one hit kills , get juggernaught (doubles your hit points so it takes 4 hits to down you) , and then save up to upgrade your weapon with the pack-a-punch machine - you can also open the random box for some nice guns but if your unlucky you'll just get a pistol or some other rubbish - you'll also want other perks which are :

Quick revive (you can revive downed players quicker)
Speed cola (quick reload)
Stamina up (marathon)

If your downed by the zombies you lose any perks , but as long as one player makes it through the level any 'dead' players will be revived at the start of the next (although their weapons go back to the basics).

Each level has its own twist on things , the basic map (Kino der Toten) has a teleporter which you need to connect to the platform in the first room to go to the room with the pack-a-punch in it ,and has a level of zombie demon dogs every 6 levels or so (stand in a corner near the other players and take them out)
Five has a defcon level which you need to flick all the switches for to teleport to the pack-a-punch room , and has a random level with a thief who will steal your weapons (if you kill him you get the weapon back and there is a 'sale' on both pack-a-punch (down to only 1000) and the mystery box (down to 10)
Assention has a number of landers you need to ride, and every 6 or so levels you get attacked by space monkeys who will try to destroy one of the perk machines
Call of the Dead has the Zombie George Romero who follows you around (dont shoot him or he turns mad and chases you - lead him back to the water to return him to normal) and a moving pack-a-punch machine (the Lighthouse light shows where it is on the map)

14 meg update when starting tonight which is obviously to setup for the new map pack - but going into the store you get the map as a download option for free - and the text ripped from the previous pack (clicking it gives you the swirly logo then back to the main menu)

And in preparation for the new map pack tomorrow they have finally given out :

Hardcore .............. FLAGS !

huh ?

Well Hardcore mode for both Capture the flag and Domination , however since they didn't actually do any other real work , and domination when you have only one flag only gives you 2 spawn points its a bit of a joke - so when one team captures 2 flags they all camp near the 3rd one and the game keeps spawning people around the same area to be killed :-(

And trailer for the part of the map pack i'm most interested in - the new Zombies map

So Bowie knife instead of scythe , a new laser gun thingy , some water slides , a minecart ride , some spike traps (and a spiked claymore) - and back to the original four characters (I dont have the achievement yet in Call of the Dead but you find them trapped behind a door and need to free them which sends them to 'paradise' which is the name of this map)

Zombie monkeys (look a little bigger than the ones in Ascension) and an exploding zombie.

I think it may be a while again before I get any more map packs.

the monkeys on ascencion are little buggers tho!

You do know you only get them if :

You have turned on the power
You have a Perk potion

They will attack a 'random' perk machine (but only one you have bought) and if you don't kill them they destroy the machine and the perk - they are a real pain if your trying for the pack a punch achievement as you don't get anywhere near enough points from a monkey wave :-(

Hmm interesting, but turning on the power is pretty important. And it's always the first thing you try to do.
Are the perks new? I don't think they were there when I first played the zombies.

I did manage to pack a punch on Five one time with the RPK that was pretty useful :D

Turning on the power on Assention gets you access to the Launchers (you need to then trigger all three to launch the missile and get access to the pack-a-punch machine) and it enables the perk machines.

Perk machines are in CODBLOPS but I only have the first map on the previous Zombie game so dont know if they made it - on single player 'revive' is available from the start (and revives you if your downed) on multiplayer you always need the power on for any perk.

Pack a punch normally costs 5000 and basically makes just about any weapon amazing (the majority of the guns shoot lasers and have much larger magazine) , even the initial pistols change to a dual wield grenade launcher.

On Five if you kill the pentagon thief then it starts a sale and you can buy from the mystery box for 10 credits or pack a punch any weapon for 1000 instead of 5000.

Generally in most of the zombie maps the basic strategy is :

First 2 rounds - pistol and knife only
Round 3 any secondary (i normally go for an SMG - which requires a door to be opened on any of the maps).
Round 3 - 8 either gather enough money to open up the map and turn on the power , or find and hit the mystery box a few times to get a much better gun (or get the good knife which is a one hit kill until level 10)
Somewhere around level 8 if you've not got the power on - get the power on , then perks (Juggernaught / Speed cola / etc) and start saving for pack-a-punch

On Call of the dead I go for the Sythe as quick as possible (round 4 or 5 - 750 for the first barrier 2000 for the doors and 3000 for the sythe itself) and then get the power on and get the perks (i still need to go and do the fetch quest for that achievement)

I did try to get the achievement for 'buy every weapon' on Zombies last night but must have missed one (I had everything open and the pack-a-punched LMG but got cornered and downed before I could go back round to try and find what i was missing)

There's a nice trick for single player , however the main thing is shoot him in the head a lot (preferably with a powered up gun) , i've killed him a few times in multiplayer with a standard SMG and in single player with a pack-a-punched gun (some of it is also that he has a pattern so if your in front of him you can back up and keep shooting - he wont deviate from the pattern)

The trick for single player is make sure you have the quick revive and be on the top level of the war-room (with the defcon switches) and that you can see the stairway - when he teleports in on the bottom 'cook' a grenade and let it go off - it will down you and while reviving you have your fully uploaded grenade launching pistol , just shoot him as he climbs the stairs a few times and he'll die (you'll get the achievement and the fire sale token)

Very sniper 'friendly' maps in general - i did like the COD arcade game and pinball tables in the diner level.

Zombies has a few extra things thrown in - the little monkey is around at the start and doesnt attack , and you can kill him but he respawns - i also did have him get angry and chase me around (however killing him lost me points) - also when i was downed i noticed he picked up a power up and it started to randomly cycle through all the different things when he was carrying it - i didnt get the chance to grab it afterwards but it might be a good way to turn powerups into what you want (generally max ammo)

Power is turned on by waterwheels in the underground section , two different ways to get there - I've managed to get it on but not get back up to ride either the minecart or the water slide.
There are also geysers which you can ride back up to the surface (may be good for a quick exit at times) , and the spike traps can be a bit of a pain (theres also a section with quicksand that slows you down unless you take the 'correct path' which I could see being a problem if your being chased by a hoard at the time)

Two new zombie types - one has a weird headband on and shrieks (like a sonic wave when your close by) which affects you like flashbangs , the other was the fire zombie which took a bit of killing then blew up (and left flames behind to stop you going that way)

** Update ** well it seems the pack-a-punch machine is at the top of the stairs just as you start , and the monkeys takeyour powerups there - could be you need a certain amount to open it ?
I've now tried the minecart and water slide and yeah they are moving sections but nothing special- I also got the achievement for killing a napalm zombie without taking any damage because i had already been downed by another normal walking one (a complete accident but obviously it does mean you can use the same trick as above when killing the pentagon thief)

Ah well , pack-a-punch is slightly easier than that - there are some statues made of monkey heads around the level - each has a pressure pad nearby - you find the active one and stand still on the pressure pad for a few seconds (as it lowers into the ground) and then the stairs to the pack a punch machine drop down (for a short period of time).

I've picked up two of the other achievements for this without really trying - kill a monkey as its 'stealing' a power up (i let it grab carpenter and killed it while it had cycled to instakill) , and kill the shrieking zombie as its blinding you (easy - when they appear you sight on it and shoot - as its screaming the chances are it'll blind you anyway.)

Other two achivements are using the shrink gun on all types of zombies (i've not had it from the random box yet) and get the 'focus stone' which looks to be the long mission type thing on the map.

And as if you couldnt see it already ...

With the Call of Duty: Black Ops Annihilation map pack hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace today, we thought that it might go all quiet on the DLC front for Black Ops for the time being, but there's already hints that a fourth dose of downloadable maps could be on the way soon.

“I can’t talk anything beyond ‘Annihilation’, but keep your eyes peeled,” Treyarch's Design Director, David Vonderhaar told Digital Spy. Vonderhaar left it at that though, neglecting to reveal anything further.

More map packs for Call of Duty: Black Ops is a complete no-brainer, so tell us something we don't know. With the game declared the best selling of all time in the UK, Black Ops has been wildly successful, so you can bet that the DLC will keep on coming as long as there's money to be made.

CoD: Black Ops Annihilation map pack is available now for 1200 Microsoft Points. Check out the latest trailer for the five map pack, which includes the Silo, Drive-In, Hangar 18, Hazard and Shangri-La zombie map.

Personally I'd just like them to release the Zombie maps that were part of the hardened edition as a download since right now the only way to get them is to pay about £50 for a card on Ebay - yes , seriously , £50 !

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Call-Duty-Black-O ... 2311e86405

or even £102 - for a card with a code on it that comes with one edition of the game GTFF!

Double XP this weekend and they will bring back the Nuketown 24x7 game mode so you can just play all your maps on nuketown with silly amounts of killing if you need to level up anything or do some odd challenges to kill with a specific weapon

Call of Duty: Black Ops Rezurrection Pack Announced

Quote:
A fourth content pack dubbed "Rezurrection" for Call of Duty: Black Ops is slated for release this year, Activision confirmed.

As part of its earnings release today, the publisher said this new content pack is coming on August 23 first to Xbox 360 and then later to PlayStation 3 and PC.

The Rezurrection content pack includes:

- The all new Moon level

- Four re-mastered levels of Zombie lore: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, the Zombie factory that started it all

- An enhanced Zombies Soundtrack including three tracks never before available for purchase

- A new Zombies Moon theme

"For our fans who purchased the Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Editions and already own the four re-mastered maps, the other contents in the Rezurrection pack will be included at no cost, including Moon, the soundtrack and the theme," Activision said.

If you did not purchase Black Ops Hardened or Prestige Editions, Rezurrection will be available for 1200 Microsoft Points.

Call of Duty: Black Ops previously received map packs First Strike, Escalation, and Annihilation.

Instabuy - the 4 old map packs that you could only get by buying the hardended version (or paying £50 for the code on ebay) + one further new Zombie map

I do wish they would fix the leaderboard part of it - it generally shows my top round as something from months ago - I had a good run on Five last night with the ray-gun plus winter howl and got to level 30 (with one remaining random since everyone else ditched around 10)

And someone posted earlier that the total cost of all the DLC thats been released after this would be 4800 microsoft points or around £40 plus whatever you shelled out at the start to buy the bloody game !

I got mine for £25 at Tesco with 2100 points for £17 - with this i'll have spent another 2700 points which at 'cheap' points rates works out at another £19.30 so I will have spent over £60 on the one game

To be fair though, the amount of time you've sunken into it it's probably worth it.

The in game counters only show multiplayer and not Zombies - for that its at 400 hours - my Raptr account was created after i'd had the game around a month and shows 591 hours

So yes , I think i've had my moneys worth out of it - however I didnt realise that it was that much money :-)

One more week for mappack shenanigans and I got my invite for COD Elite today.

The 'terms of use' forbid me from posting about it (would they really know?) - however for stat tracking and presentation it looks okay and has a few things extra from whats in the game itself but not that much.

Also it would let me see other peoples stats in the same views so for example I can see that Nickachu is level 49 and is 1.2 hours away from the next prestige, and has 241 hours in the game so far split out as 94 hours Domination / 44 hours Hardcore Headquarters / 26 hours team deathmatch and 79 hours 'other'

Or that his primary (first position) class is AK47 with suppressor / Strella 3 as 2ndary / Frag / Smoke / Claymore and perks are ghost / steady aim / ninja

Quote:
The following video presentation will bring you up to speed on some unconventional tests conducted here recently.

The Call of Duty Zombie Labs strives to understand every facet of zombie physiology and psychology in order to help experts like you keep the Zombie onslaught at bay. The firm believes there are few who are as qualified as you to disseminate this critical information, and help it recruit every die-hard zombie killer out there capable of rising to the biggest challenge yet.

This message will self destruct in a few seconds — okay, we can only take credit for this last bit here because we found the actual announcement above from PR more creative than anything we could come up with at the moment. The video below is for Rezurrection, the upcoming Black Ops DLC, and at the end you get to see some lunar footage.

Rezurrection, which was originally included in the Hardened and Prestige Editions of the game, includes Moon along with four re-mastered maps: Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa and Der Riese, the Zombie factory.

It also includes an enhanced Zombies Soundtrack including three tracks never before available for purchase.

Rezurrection is set for release on August 23 on Xbox Live for 1200 MS points, with PC and PS3 getting it at a later date.
