A landline phone.

Beats zombie in the head with it. "It's for you!"

Spins round and nails another zombie with a flurry of blows with the mouth piece. "Ringing the pain!"

Flings cord around zombie neck and flings body of phone into rotating ceiling fan causing zombie to be dragged up off the ground and to fly up into the rotating whirr of death, which chops his nogging off. "Don't hang up on me, bro!"

Using body of phone to protect against biting pushes zombie back up to the wall onto a jagged bit of pipe that impales zombie and immobilises him. "Putting you on hold."

Punches phone through zomb skull. "Transferring you now... TO THE GRAVE!"

Looks across road from window at garage with parked truck. "Time to go long distance..." etc.

Damn! I forgot: Zombie is tripped by phone cord causing her to stumble into rotating blades of still-somehow-working blades of a combine harvester that has previously crashed through the wall. "Sorry, you've been cut off!"

*Cough*

Anyway! Plenty of Zombie fun here as the lovely Valve have released a free online comic series about the L4D team and how they started out, and what happened after the first game. It's pretty damn good, totally cannon and answers a fair few questions: http://www.l4d.com/comic/comic.php

The first one's good, but the second one's better I reckon.

I think going by the key they are saying possessed dead people (so the monster in the celler (Ted Rami))

However I dont think of the Deadite's as Zombies - possibly they wanted something in to make up the numbers ?

I'll be going to see my friends in Evil Dead the Musical in Oregon in a few weeks, my mate Todd plays Ash. Last time Bruce Campbell showed up, hurrah! ("Stop showing off," - ed.)

I havent watched it but theres a video on the net of a group doing the musical which is on my queue of things to watch.

I'm also wondering if Evil Dead 3 made my top 10 movies list , cause if it didnt then something would be getting dropped for it.

** edit - its okay - its on my list **

Thanks for posting that Pete, that's a great comic! Really makes you feel like that's what was on going on while you were dealing with the crescendo event waiting for rescue. I really enjoyed that :)

Japanese manage to introduce new levels of fucked-upness to the zombie genre by faking zombie attacks to scare impressionable five year-olds in a 'kids scream the funniest things' sort of format. 8)

http://thedailywh.at/post/1313930095/cr ... apanese-tv

Japanese kids are plucky though! However fucked up their parents are.

RAAARRRRR!

Went to a slightly early Halloween do on Saturday (hence the above) and saw REC for the first time. I didn't even realise it was a zombie movie before setting down to watch it, but despite not being the world's most original concept, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The missus, who won't normally watch horror movies but made the mistake of coming along to this Halloween do with me, naturally hated it.

Any ideas if the American remake or sequel are any good?

Are you taking the piss? Not that I rate the original much, but when you, me, and Craster (ZOMG CLIQUE) watched the remake we didn't stop laughing at the awfulness of it all. Whilst ringing every pizzeria in South London to find them all closed.

I'm not sure the drunk helped. We only looked at it for about three minutes.

When does that start anyway? I is rather looking forward to that, being as I'm a massive fan of the comic book series.

I had thought it was the 5th so I'm glad you can confirm that. I will need to remember to set the sky+ for it, since I'm away that weekend. You lot remind me! :zombie:

Also this friday is 'Zombies: The Truth' a documentary on the Nat Geo at 9pm, which might be good, or it might be bobbins.

Also, although not zombie related, is 'Life After Armageddon' on Five Thursday 9pm. A 'one-off docudrama presenting a world devastated by a deadly flu pandemic' could be good.

I hope everyone has their plans ready because this may just be the start

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/24/funeral_death/

Quote:
A Russian woman died of a heart attack at her own funeral, after waking up to find praying mourners filing past her coffin.

According to the Daily Mail, Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, 49, had been declared dead after suffering chest pains and collapsing at home in Kazan, capital of Tatarstan.

Doctors had failed to spot she was actually very much alive, and Mrs Mukhametzyanov unsuprisingly began screaming when she regained consciousness to find she was being prematurely dispatched to the hereafter.

Her husband, 51-year-old Fagili Mukhametzyanov, said: "Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes in intensive care before she died again, this time for good."

He added: "I am very angry and want answers. She wasn’t dead when they said she was and they could have saved her."

Hospital spokesman Minsalih Sahapov assured an investigation into the matter was under way. ®

Out of 93 reviews, the book has 9 reviews with 3* or less on Amazon, which suggests the concept may not be ridiculous. Or that Amazon zombie romance reviewers bummed the Twilight saga so hard it has all new reasons to be emo.

The plot synopsis makes me  pretty hard. Jesus. It's just not right.

The book has a cover pull quote from Stephanie Mayer. That's not a good sign.
