I clinched the Ashes earlier by winning the third Test to put me 3-0 up. Ever so slightly disappointed to not get the Achievement at this stage, though I suppose it's to ensure you play the full five matches (not that I mind in any way, but just saying).

I think, a few pages back, one of you said you'd taken a few wickets with Pietersen. So I tried bowling with him yesterday and took a couple. Had another bash today and he got me six wickets in one innings. I don't imagine this is in any way realistic, but oh well!

I think it's just the variation that gets them.

I bowled fast for 15-20 overs, brought on swanny, instant chance.
Did the same with colly aswell, instant chances and wickets.

This game has so many flaws, bugs, glitches and cretinous design faults that it isn't even worth me listing them, the keyboard would need replacing before I was finished. I would feel cheated if I'd paid £2.50 for this, let alone £25.

That's not my experience of it at all.

Are you sure you're playing it right? :p

I think that comment may have been driven by the fact that when Matt played him on saturday, he was beaten so much that at the end of the game he resembled Baby P.

This game is more realistic than I thought, given the Aussie run out fiascos today!

:D

Yep, I kept cursing the fact that I kept bowling the Aussies out for under 200, but it's eminently possible in real life, too.

I tried it online.

Needless to say Either the other people left.. I had one guy 4/6. Or my connection was just pants. But I still couldnt get the sodding hat-trick!
And it has to be in a ranked match, so I doubt it's do-able against bezzies

Yeah, it seems quite easy to max this out. I reckon Dimrill might want to borrow it from me at this rate.

You shouldn't be able to max it out playing like nickachu. I'm writing a letter of complaint.

Getting on top of the bowlers by aggressive play?

How is that bad?

Blic 07 seemed like dimrill fodder to me. I got most of the cheevos in on test match

Even I didn't max out BLIC07 and I played it loads. Win a Test as every team? Win at every ground (about 20 of them)? Win an ODI as every team? Win the World Cup with six different teams? Fuck off.

Hmmm, just bowled out India for 58 in the final of the T20 tournament to get my 75GP. Six run outs!

Comments re Panesar in the other thread reminded me how unrealistic this game is in another way. Monty can bowl 3 balls.

The achievements are horrendously easy.

I think if they did win x on hard or whatever, they might have been a greater challenge.

It offends me as both a gamer and a cricket fan. The only thing that I like about the game is the fact that, as you point out, I haven't spent any money on it.

I won the Ashes earlier! Woo-hoo!

Got loads more I want to do with this game though, and want to play Tests and whatnot against sides other than Australia.

It should be difficult batting last on this pitch, so as long as they get around 1,200 in their 2nd innings, they should be confident for the win.

Yeah, last man out was Prior on 170-odd so seemed pointless carrying on with numbers 10 and 11 - also wanted the psychological boost of declaring. ;)

Blimey. I just noticed a new cricket game is out.

I would presume it's essentially the same as last year's Ashes game, but personally, I loved that and it was one of my faves from last year.

I saw that, and was surprised they didn't hold out for another few months and release it November as an Ashes 2011 game to tie in with the series

Would it be too cheeky to suggest they would do that as well? Mind you, that would be exceptionally cheeky, since it's nearly July already.

Seems the Aussie & English teams are fully licensed though, so maybe an Ashes option exists within there somewhere.

Anyway, I am deffo getting this, even if I can't find the time to fully play it until the World Cup's over.

I want to get it as I've maxed Ashes 09, but will probably wait until the real Ashes in the winter.

The Ashes game is a lovely bargain price of a tenner these days, for those who haven't got it. As much as I love my football games and puzzle games, I can honestly say that playing Ashes was the most enjoyment I've had from a game for years.

Just a bit of a tip off for anyone interested, but I swooped on this today in Asda, at 25 notes (for comparison, it's currently £30 on Amazon, though I haven't checked elsewhere).

I just wonder if they will release a downloadable extra bit for an Ashes mode, since, from flicking through the manual, it doesn't look like your actual Ashes is in there currently (though it appears you can do custom tournaments, so could probably make one).

Really pissed off at the EuroGamer review of this.

I don't agree with the overall gist of it, but it isn't so much that, more the opening, where the guy essentially says "sports games are rubbish and pointless".

I traded The Ashes and went back to BLIC. Pathetically, I never even tried to play a Test Match.

Is BLIC pretty much the same game - I mean, plays the same etc? Was that also made by Codemasters?

Also, though I did do some Tests, I can't deny I preferred the 20/20 formats, for quickness and that.

BLIC is the 2007 version basically. It's the same as the Xbox1 version and fuctionally identical to Graham Gooch World Class Cricket on the Amiga from 1993. Once they had that formula, they really stuck with it.
