Bugger Bell out with 17 balls to go. Poor lad, great knock.

JAYSUS!

That's twice in the series that they've just had to get Onions out to win the match, and twice he has repelled them.

Arise, Sir Onions!

The whole office stopped working to watch the last couple of overs. That only normally happens during The Ashes!

That, ladies and gentlemen, is why Test cricket is the best sport on this planet.

You can criticise Colly and Bell all you like for not finishing the job, but without them it would've been an ordinary English collapse. Draw or lose today, I'd still have been proud of them both.

How anyone could criticise either of those lads for their performance today is beyond me. Once again Colly shows that he is England's best player.

I'd hope so. We've got about fifty televisions in here, and we're the England team's official sponsor!

Test Cricket, I salute you.

Amusing that but for our #11 batsman, we'd be 2-1 down. He's batted five times now and the Saffers have yet to dismiss him.

Get him up the order!!!

So, after getting lucky in two Tests so far, do you think we're a bowler light? If basmen start going after Swann then our quicks are suddenly going to get very tired.

KP needs a big score. It's bizarre to think that he's gone from our captain and star batsmen to being the one probably next for the chop, but injury can do that to players, sadly.

Who would you bring in, though? Sideshow Bob isn't the player he was in 2007. Bresnan is no more than a county trundler IMO (although he could be of some use in the one-day side). Mahmood isn't good enough, either.

The only person I can think of who could do well is Liam Plunkett. He seems to have matured as a bowler and took plenty of wickets for Durham last season. He's quick and it helps that he can hold a bat, too.

Can we drop KP, though? We know he's undoubtably talented, but either his mind isn't there, or he's still struggling with injury.

He's still averaging over 30 in the series, so whilst he's out of form, it's hardly a disaster. He has also scored more runs than a certain Andrew Strauss, and only 19 fewer than Trott. Should we drop them too?

I agree he doesn't quite look himself, but he's still a top class batsman. He's got the highest average in the team, and even over the last 12 months he's still got a good record.

I am concerned with the balance of the team, and said from the off we'd struggle with 4 bowlers, but I'm stuck as to what to do, as the replacements seem dodgy, on the whole.

And my enduring memory of Plunkett is him and Mahmood combining for the most extras in ODI history.

We can't drop Strauss, he's had a great 12 months with the bat and has been getting the most out of his players as captain, too. Trott's only just come into the side, so he needs a good run of games before we decide whether he's up to the task.

As Cook, Bell, and Collingwood have all been in the runs recently, and Prior seems to be faultless these days behind the stumps, KP seems next in line. He's got one good score on the ODIs and that's it so far.

Plunkett is a much better bowler now than he was four years ago. Mahmood doesn't seem to have got any better, sadly.

What we need is an all-rounder. Someone to be the fifth bowler who can also score runs down the order. Oh.

Doesn't seem the cleverest move to weaken the batting for a test England only need to draw to take the series. Particularly given that none of the prospective 5th bowlers are knocking the door down demanding inclusion.

Umm, I thought I stated that 'KP needs a score in the next Test'? I was talking about the next series and beyond.

England 100-4 at lunch. Although they were 39-4 at one point.

The Cook dismissal sounds a bit of a farce though, with the umpire not spotting it was a no ball after it was referred.

Colly's certainly been going for it - 44 off 55 with 5 fours and a couple of sixes.

Strauss, KP and Trott have all been liabilities this series. I have faith in Strauss and KP to turn it around though.

Trott I also have a great deal of belief in... but his best performance was his debut, coming in down the order. Look at Bell's average at 3 (low 30s) and at 5 or 6 (in the 50s). I fear Trott may go the same way...

Well the one benefit of that performance is the chance to once again point out that KP is an over rated prick of the highest water, played in exactly the opposite way that was required. KP you are not that talented you can be dismissive of bowlers.
