They are also doing a Mighty Nein series, which feels better suited for a tv audience.

Mainly because the start of the campaign is the start of the show, i think. VM started mid story as they had already been playing for a couple of years.

Catching up on tv

Star Trek : strange new worlds. What a great show, not sure where it fits in with the Star Trek universe.

The recruit. A cia lawyer gets dragged into something he should not. Not too bad.

Now to find something else to watch while on the bike.

About 5 years before TOS.

Pike was the captain of the Enterprise in the pilot enterprise, and his role has been embellished and expanded over the years, until getting his own series.

Chad & JT Go Deep is amusing. It's well observed and characterised. While I'm not sure how many of the pranks / stunts are 'fully fake set ups' as opposed to 'kind of organic but with some TV magic/fakery' it doesn't really matter to the overall experience as it's fun and the episodes are short and punchy, they don't outstay their welcome. I'm glad I took a chance with it.

After finishing all the series we had on the go (Manifest is is paused half way through the latest series) we tried Reacher on Amazon Prime.

The first two episodes rocked - I think we'll enjoy this. One of the fight scenes had me wincing, there were a couple of brutal injuries.

Yes it was - while we knew from the off that Reacher was going to kick ass, i was still a little surprised. It was brutal, and at the same time it did not feel unnecessarily so.

It's interesting how well they reflect the way the books write it in the show. Utterly puts the films to shame and Thad Castle is amazing

I was going to watch this but after being burnt and bored by the Outer Ranges I've been a little put off the 'something a little bit strange is happening' type of series. Is it good, worth watching?

It was good, I just spent a lot of time being baffled as to who was doing what and why.

There's solid characters and performances in there, and it is well shot.

Sorry, alarm went off and I thought I cancelled out of writing it.

Only Murders In The Building is good fun. Steve Martin, Martin Short, Tina Fey, Sting, and the guy who always plays a camp theatre producer, playing, yes, a camp theatre producer.

Selena Gomez, who I don’t know much about but have definitely heard the name.

Basically, Martin, Short, and Gomez are true crime fans, there’s a murder in the building and they decide to sleuth it out and make their own show. They all have their own skeletons.

It’s good fun. Short episodes. Easy to watch.

The way Amazon is holding episodes back from Prime until Friday hoping to get Paramount+ subs going is *infuriating*. I'm already trying to figure out how to reduce the number of streaming subs we have, I will not add more!

Not as annoying as the latest horrific Xbox UI and ongoing using at least half the space trying to make me watch football. But very annoying.

We watched the first two in rapid succession. The second isn't as good, though it did pick up.

I'm not really sure the gimmick has much legs, and Martin/Short are... Best in small doses. An acquired taste. Of an era.

We will watch the third season though.

Is anyone else still watching Riverdale?

This season's time travel storyline is proving to be very entertaining and a nice reset to the characters.

I watched the entire first series within 24 hours (I'm unwell and confined to bed at the moment, and it's nice little short episodes I can nap between). I'm a couple of episodes into the second series and I am finding Amy Schumer irritating. I gathered she was famous by the fact that they kept saying her full name in an entirely unrealistic way. I find her overbearing in every scene she is in, so I hope she's not in every episode from here on.

I actually could watch Steve Martin all day (well, I did). He just has a nice face and doesn't overplay his skillset, and I love watching him play banjo, or accordion, etc. Martin Short is great in smaller doses, but I find Steve Martin keeps him tempered down a little.

Also, everyone everywhere has missed a trick by not casting Steve Martin and Michael Kelly as father and son. They look so alike to me.

But they’ve kind of missed the boat because Michael Kelly is aging like a normal human and Steve Martin has looked the same for 40 years now.

The Borg have now taken over all the Star Fleet crew under 25, and started to kill all of the crew who are older. That leaves Star Fleet completely gutted as an organisation and unable to function. It feels like there could be a reset button that needs to be presses to recover from that which would be a bit lazy. On the up side, that would mean that they could resurrect Shaw and we have a chance of him getting his own show.

Thanks Bik. I’m fine, just having another antibody-building holiday. Only a few weeks after that last one (and that one was vicious) so I’m hoping not to have any more for a bit of a while.

I’m hoping that if I’m feeling up to it tomorrow Russell can make me up a bed in the garden, so I can sleep out there for a bit and breathe some outdoor air.

Maybe we will find out later this week, but I think they will probably think that was covered in Shaw's throw-away line about the Real Borg still being out there.

I gave up on Picard after the first episode or two (I forget) of the second series. It really didn't feel very 'Star Trek-y' to me.

Is it worth persevering through?

The Reluctant Traveler (Apple TV) has the charming Eugene Levy doing his charming quippy approach thing and wiggling his eyebrows as he quips as he visits places that he wouldn't normally visit and does things he wouldn't normally do, in a way that is trying to be natural and charming but is clearly so heavily scripted, and yet it is still charming and engaging.

He stays in some fucking expensive places and does really expensive things, so while it is quite good easy-going viewing it isn't particularly relatable.

Season 3 is absolutely excellent, it's like a different show.
You can skip season 2 and not miss anything super important.

We’re watching BEEF (Netflix). It’s great TV. It’s the perfect blend of comedy and storyline. You should binge all 10 episodes.

Disclaimer: I’ve only seen seven episodes, but I have no reason to think the next three aren’t just as superb.

Has anyone tried 'Poker Face' yet ?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poker_Face_(TV_series)

Natasha Lyonne on the run and solving mystery of the week type stuff - downloading it now to watch but i do remember people saying they should reboot columbo with her and this description makes me very hopeful

Quote:
Poker Face is a murder mystery series stylized as a character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery, with each episode adapting the inverted detective story format popularized by Columbo.

The series centers around Charlie Cale, a casino worker with an innate ability to detect lies, traveling across the United States on the run from a casino boss following a suspicious death. Along the way, she encounters colorful characters and solves homicides in a variety of settings.
