Top down dark souls survival game that released on PC ages ago. I remember seeing it as early access and thought that looked ace. It’s got amazing atmosphere, seriously, it’s fucking great and some of the best I’ve seen in a long while, but the combat is a tiny bit annoying and unfair cause your dude moves so slow.

25) Dusk (Switch)

GAME OF THE YEAR. It’s a retro shooter in the vein of Quake & Blood and it’s fucking GREAT. Smooth as fuck, fast and fluid, level design is outstanding and the atmosphere is really good too. I want to experience it all over again. It’s that good.

Don’t ask me why, but I’ve been playing this off and on for a while now, just dipping in to do a few levels, here and there when I’m bored. I’ve clocked the campaign but not every level because I’m not a psychopath. It remains an utterly brilliant game but the new music fucking sucks ass. Shame the musician fell out with the dev, cause the music was a large part of why I originally played it. And it’s hard as balls.

Oh, I did a couple:

1) Hades

Obviously a fabulous game. Cool story, fantastic game mechanics, fun action. First game I have got a Platinum on in years.

2) Maquette

This is a free game on PS+ and it is absolutely brilliant. It is a short game, which is more of a simple story being told, with occasional puzzles. The graphics are beautiful, and the soundtrack (all original music from local San Francisco bands) is superb.

What sets it apart is the concept of the puzzles, which is simple but brilliant. I won't spoil it for you if you don't know, as half the joy is seeing it all unfold. But it's one of those games like Monument Valley where the inventiveness just makes you smile and seeing it work can just be incredible.

It's a short game so you can finish it in a few hours (or speedrun it in under half an hour), and well worth playing, especially as a load of you already have it for free.

Your boy Grim... slides yet another one home with the completion of this bonkers platform shooter from Team 17. It's barely dabbles with the Rougelike world in that you keep very little between runs, but you slowly git gud and whip the baddies into shape. There are a lot of guns. There are a lot of items. There are a lot of pets you can hatch.

And when I say "a lot", I'm not fucking around. Take a look at the game wiki page for the items, for example: https://neonabyss.fandom.com/wiki/Items

I really enjoyed this one, although I can't put my finger on why exactly. It's well-made and should have felt samey but somehow didn't. It looks fantastic in a pixel-arty way, and the music is wall to wall fucking banging. Check out the bar where you can dance along:

So, that's 5 down, 47 to go. Should be easy.

Prohint - unlock the lady then ignore all of the other characters. Use the random one to get a bonus item!

Ghost of Tsushima x Tenchu but with ropier graphics, lower budget but with some great movement systems? Yes please. And totally coop and cross platform? Give it to me now. But about 30% too long at 50 missions deep? I’m slightly upset but not much. Yelling at your mate to stop killing folks and triggering everyone in the vicinity while you sit on a rooftop watching the nonsense unfold and refusing to get involved? 8/10

A good Star Wars romp. A young lad, is being hunted for being a Jedi in hiding. Visit planets, do missions, slash empire.

Some frustrating sliding sequences and I got stuck on a training bit, as I am rubbish :)
