Whenever I see a thatched cottage I always think how nice it would be to have a view of one. Much better than living in one and spending every night thinking it's going to burn to the ground.

Yes, me, all the time. And e.g. houses by rivers and streams too. There's some gorgeous houses down the road from us in Ironbridge but there's no way I'd live there.

Hah, that is part of the reason I live 3/4ers of the way up a hill, and not down by the river also

also mostly-up-a-hill the flood searches on our house showed a "1 in 100 year" likelihood of flooding reaching our doorstep.

We're something like 30m above Dick Brook (*) in the valley floor! Our two neighbours would be completely underwater, chimney stacks included.

It's similar here. Our house is 700m away from the river, but it's at least 25m higher. There are houses on our road, which would need to be 5 or 6 stories high to reach to my front door step. If my house floods, thousands of people's houses would be under 20m of water!

Swans have buggered off for the time being, it's all foxes, woodpeckers and moorhens at the moment, with the occasional frog for good measure.

Oh, we also have some Jays, which are right noisy arseholes.

They really are.

Not as much as owls sitting right outside your bedroom windows shouting all night though.

We've got a Grey Wagtail hanging about at the moment, which is cool.

We had a branch break of the sweet chestnut and manage to not quite drop onto next door's greenhouse. £150 for 4 lads to strap it up and dangle about cutting bits off it until all safe.

While we were at it got a quote for crown reduction and other bits and bobs on the 5 biggest trees. Another £3k.

Don't buy a garden with loads of mature trees, kids.

You called 4 lads? There's your issue. You should have called for tree fellers.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a jay. I’d love to, though.

We’ve got a couple of owls just outside the windows in the front and the back, and they call to each other each night. I love them. I find them so peaceful and lovely.

These last few weeks we’ve had a huge 100+ flock of jackdaws each morning g. They stay for about 45 minutes. This is them just leaving, so it’s not quite peak noise, but I think this video gives you a good idea:

It's my company's "Let's piss off the staff in every country in which we operate with some compulsory security awareness training" time again. They've really shot themselves in the foot with this one.

"Secure the Sauce - Challenge 1 - Investigate the Attack," is in the form of a game, with animated sections, in which you have to decipher some clues to determine missing numbers to complete the IP address of a miscreant who's trying to hack into your company. The 'sauce' in question, is what is manufactured by the fictitious company in the challenge

Unfortunately, the clues don't seem to appear in the animations for some trainees, including me. Maybe we have to use a particular browser, but there's nothing in the intro to alert you to this. I just let the initial link open Edge, which is the default browser on my new laptop, and no clues were to be seen. If you are unable to decipher each clue on your own, there are three 'Hints' you can reveal, telling you where in the animation you've just watched the answers are to be found. The third hint actually just gives you the answer, then allows you to move on to the next section. Thus, you can complete the game without successfully deciphering any of the clues.

There are four challenges, each with three answers, giving a total score of. ....... 175 points. Fuck knows how they arrive at that, unless that's the total score possible when you've completed all the modules that are being drip fed to us over the next few weeks.

Anyroadup, I had no idea what was going on, and from the staff's reviews, allowing up to 5 stars and supporting comments, neither have a whole lot of others, who've given it one star and a lot of scathing comments.

Here's my score card at the end of challenge 1. But my question is, how have I earned the first row of the ransomware decryption key?

That sounds far worse than our mandatory training. Where we often get given stuff about how not to bribe local government officials in the middle East when trying to negotiate a new contract.

I work in support in the UK, so that doesn't apply to me for about half a dozen reasons, but I still have to watch it, and do the quiz every 18 months.

My son bought me this from the shop, when I asked him for a bag of sweets costing a £1 (energy boost on my long walks/wild swims).

So limited that they were already reduced to clear in the local co-op last week - though not to as little as a pound, so perhaps they'd set them too high in the first place.

Is this testing the desire to reclaim our proper British heritage?

Will we see Marathon next, and Yorkie correctly Not For Girls? Kia Ora with its delightful racist crows for whom it is too orangey?

Will we see the end of filthy foreign Cif and get back to good old British-sorry-UK Jif?

Though if it means we can have Quattro back...

I didn’t even notice the different name on the pack. I also didn’t know that the flavours had ever changed. What are the differences between OG Opal Fruits and what starbursts are now?

That’s enough of a novelty to make it enjoyable. We went last Monday and it was full of people but empty of furniture. Didn’t manage to find any dining chairs, so panic bought an armchair and left again.

How many candles did you buy?
