I had that album! :D Not thought about it for years but you are very right.

The Gnu Song was my favourite, closely followed by My Boomerang Won't Come Back and Sparky's Magic Piano

Yes. Love me some Flanders and Swann. Although John Finnemore did a sketch about it that turned my entire understanding of reality upside down.

At least the 'Right Said Fred' on that album isn't the anti-vaxy one.

Yeah, it's absolutely batshit. It reads like some conspiracy guff you might see on facebook.

I think George Formby is singing about his cock here, not sure though:

A good, if rather long, video. I hadn't heard of Wata before, but VGA-graded games pop up on ebay - I just ignore them; I'd rather sit at the affordable end of the market.

Today's lunch stop, Colne Valley, which is nowhere near Colne, it's in Huddersfield.

I don't mind driving to Huddersfield, but I dread having to go up or down Dodlee Lane. It's a very steep gradient, only maybe 300 yards long, but it's cobbled and really rattles your teeth in either direction. It's also not very wide, so passing oncoming traffic can be quite a squeeze. I could only find one photo off it, and it doesn't really do it justice.

After our discussions the other night about targeted advertising I'm a bit concerned about some of the things that's a popping up in Facebook

Poor translation and lack of punctuation means that I'm not really sure what this is for, but I'm beginning to suspect it might be something I could use to avoid visits to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

urgh!

I am so tired this morning, that I actually feel drunk!

I had one of those nights, where I fell asleep almost straight away, had 30 minutes sleep or so, and then woke up.

At that point my brain was like, well, that's your sleep for the night, it's time to get up now!

Work is going to be fun today!

I get the from time to time, but last night was one of the worse ones. I tried a fair few things that often work to no avail. I think it was close to 5 before I actually fell asleep!

Went for a walk/swim after work today, for perhaps the last time this year (my favourite spot is 90 minutes walk away, and it was really dark in the woods on the way back).

Four negative things happened on the way up.

1) I didn't put on my left knee or right ankle supports. I only remembered after about 10 minutes by which point it was too late (CF sun set)

2) I was really feeling it on the way up (7.5k walk 250m elevation change over rough uneven terrain) and it's only now that I remembered I'd only had 3 hours sleep last night

3) The cows were in my way, causing me to have to divert and climb walls and scramble through briar patches. Not ideal given 1 and 2 above

4) I saw a lamb stuck in a fence, but couldn't get close to it because of cows being in the way.

I really enjoyed my short swim, and on the way back I really took in the

The suspense here.

I had to walk through a field of cows the other day - that or turn around, anyway, and I've turned around here before so thought right, come on. They were in between me and the gate, but plenty of space to go round. So round I went, got past them as they watched me all the way. And as I got past, they lumbered into action, and started to follow me. Big brown cows, these ones, not the slightly skinnier ones that I saw clustering today.

I made some noises that I am glad no one heard, which surprised them enough to make them slow a bit, and I got to the gate, walking with a confidence that was the opposite of how I felt. Jeez.

That was odd, my touch screen stopped working in some places! Stupid old phone...

Anyway, what I started saying was that, after I got on the moors I didn't see anyone, the swimming spot was empty, the water was pretty much perfect, could have been a tad warmer if I'm being picky. I could have stayed for hours if it wasn't for the pesky sunset.

But the sunset wasn't really that pesky, it illuminated the valley in gradually darker hues of orange/red (you can see all the way to the sea over the South Hams, and a good way to Plymouth) and all the while the evening dew was rising into a fine mist. It really was breath taking.

I got back to where the lamb had been stuck in the fence, and luckily the cows had mooved (autocorrect took the o out, bah!) on, but the lamb was still stuck. I had hoped that the farmer would be around (I sometimes see him, but not tonight). Unsure of what to do, I thought I'd take a picture, and I could at least let someone know when I was back in town. The lamb got restless as I moved closer, and tried to back away, but was stuck. I then had the thought to go right up to it, I thought it might free itself, or perhaps I could help...

I was right, in its panic to get away from me, it freed itself. So in my book I saved it by scaring it!

The rest of the walk home was pretty uneventful, although something about as big as a foot seemed to splash in the river in the semi-gloom, and I could not for the life of me see what it was. I thought someone had thrown a stick for a dog at first, but as no canine appeared, I thought it must have been a fish catching a fly or something on the surface. A decent sized one that vanished into thin um water.

Sorry for the ramble, but I wanted to share the story of the lamb, and then remembered all the other stuff.

Oh if you are wondering my knee and ankle aren't speaking to me. I doubt I'll get a Christmas card either! :(

A happy ending! For the lamb, anyway, and I'm glad. I can almost picture the scene, lounging there in the water, and it's glorious.

On Friday I faced the same herd, and they just coming out of one field into the one I was in. They really didn't like my presence and like you the followed me to make sure I got off their land as soon as possible.

This was in complete contrast to my daytime walk earlier in the week. Different herd, different path. They were laying all around and on the path. They did not give two shits about me or anyone else. I walked less than 50 cm away from them. Nothing!

I've noted the downturn in activity from Craster on the forum, I do hope he's doing ok and not drowning beneath an earthquake of cardboard.

I do wonder if there has been a corresponding uptick in productivity across the country. If so, it would confirm my theory that we are a procrasternation.

I went to the orthodontist yesterday to sort out a new retainer, and was very impressed by how much technology has advanced since I last had this done. No more biting into yucky mysterious gunk, now they just wave a magic wand around your mouth and a 3D image of your insides appears on the screen!

Up until right now I thought that retainers (along with pocket protectors) were things that only existed in American middle schools on TV.

Ok, I’ve just looked up what they actually are. Do you have to wear that all the time, or just for a certain amount of time each day/week?

I wore them almost every night. I've had them since my braces came off a long long time ago. They finally snapped the other night although I think they'd become pretty brittle over the last couple of years so they might have been less effective. After all I went through I'm really afraid that the teeth will move back again.

Thankfully they're the plasticcy gum shield type rather than the kind with a metal bar.

I didn’t realise that teeth could move back after having braces. They seem like a good idea. Are they comfortable? I guess you just get used to them?

I knew a girl who’d put her eyeglasses in the dishwasher. She had incredibly bad sight, and now that I see what my dishwasher does to my Pyrex bowls I wonder if it wasn’t just actually that her specs were scratched to bits.

Has anyone else noticed that when you click on a channel in youtube you can't see the links to videos, uploads etc straight away, or is that just some weirdness going on with me?
