Yay!

New flooring makes s world of difference to a room. We're going to have the same all through downstairs. Ripping up this awful carpet really will fill me with glee!

A bike and a mower, initially. I might move in at some point.

My life has been taken over by the garage (and replaying Bloodbourne) so I thought I'd show some progress pics.

If you squint your eyes here you can pretend I have a swimming pool!

Then a man came and ruined it.

But that made rain stop getting in!

Which caused me to do an extra job.

Awesome roofer let me use one of his scaffold rigs indefinitely, we love awesome roofer.

Attachment:

Started insulating the roof (shit have I shown the new roof? - It's a lot better than the old roof).

Then I wobbled about fitting hollow board strips to make it look nice.

That's 1/8 of the roof done now...

Yesterday I gave a man almost £1,000 for some wood.

Pretend you saw this bit first. I'm fully aware that this section is not DIY too, but tough.

Old crumbly 100+ year old roof (probably haunted)

Cheers Jem!

Going through my phone I've flashbacked to the work done on the side of our garage that makes up one of our neighbours garden wall. She had ivy growing all over this and half way up on the old tiles... wish I had a before pic before I tore it all down with vengeful fury (didn't want it growing back up on the new roof). But here are two bulk bags of the stuff I even had the decency to take to the tip for her.

Attachment:
ivy.jpg

All cleared off, it was covered!

Attachment:
fairyland.jpg

Also that week (for our benefit too) I repointed that wall as best I could and masonry painted it all white...

And she got a new piece of modern art to look at too.

Oh and the internal timber that will be visible after the cladding has taken 3 coats of white... shame it was all different (some naked, some black and some bits painted blue?!)

Oooh, floor, how much was floor? Did you do it yourself? Is it laid on top of the existing floor or was it dug out? Did Epstein kill himself? Are you putting a coating on it?

Floor was £500 for 4m3 plus £50 for the roll of plastic membrane. Was laid over the top of the existing floor (I did throw in some postmix into the deeper 'pits' that were there previously. The mixer man did it with the aid of his wheelbarrow lad. I think he was murdered. I've got some Frigate grey concrete floor paint that claims to not need a sealant first but I think I'll try a small patch and see if I should PVA seal it before painting the rest.

I read this before wookie's post and I was confused as to why your floor man murdered his wheelbarrow lad.

Cheers. No mate, just for leisure/lounging/eldritch rituals, although I could work from in there once I get a laptop from work. I’ll probably use the Guinea Pig Villa as an office when we give the loft over to Harrison as his bedroom.

Sadly not, but I'm now developing a wi-fi lighting habit and might replace all the GU10s in the ceiling with wi-fi bulbs, and I may as well get ones that can do all the different colours.

I don’t think I posted the craft room I decorated in April. It had twenty layers of orange and random textured wallpaper. I painted two walls with a sort of mushroom grey which I love, and stripped and wallpapered them other two with this amazing bird wallpaper which I LOVE EVEN MORE.

Also the giant Kallax unit we built standing upright.

I’ve finished the living room now and started on the hallway today.

Lady T scored a FREE cubby house. All we needed to do was move it from their place to ours, how hard could that be, asked Lady T.

It took AGES to dismantle and transport and it was quite hard work as it had been very well built (and we had to get a mate to help and also borrow a flatbed truck). The parts then sat on the front patio at ours for ages until I took some time off work to reassemble it.

I'm pretty pleased with the end result.

A few bits got damaged and needed replacing, plus a little bit I still have to do. I think I did alright considering I'm just a dad trying to put something together for the kids, I'm not really experienced with this stuff AND I did most of it by myself.
