Cottage man rang me this morning to say he'll provide extra linen for anyone kipping on air beds, so there we go. Sorted, innit.

Bizarrely, the only condition the guy had on us having extra campers was that there were no children. Not sure why that was the case.

Maybe he's met the Grimlet.

Kris has just reminded me that I'm supposed to be running 10km on Sunday 19th September as part of a Guinness World Record attempt. If anyone is interested in joining me I think you can still enter:

https://virtualrunners.org/products/gui ... ttempt-run

If you want to join me but not enter that will also be appreciated as I bloody hate running on my own :DD

Unsure, as the weekend sits between Cardiff half and 10k tunnel run, I'll be in recovery at that point I think.

Hey all,

I know a few people were concerned even about coming for the day due to COVID, so I thought it might be an idea to actually talk about it. :nerd:

I'm sure that those of us that are going are feeling okay and are reasonably sensible. I'm going to get Joans to dig out the cottaging tub and have a look what's in in. How are people feeling about using the handtowels in the downstairs look for example? We should probably have liquid soap in any of the shared bathrooms too. I've started to pick up some antibac dispensers, but not sure how many to get. I'm thinking:
    One for the porch
    Downstairs loo
    kitchen
    Living room
    conservatory

I was also thinking of brining some camping chairs so we can sit outside. Hopefully it will be really nice weather and we can have the windows and doors open etc.

If anyone has any concerns, please voice them. We want people to feel comfortable and relaxed.

How about getting a couple of those big ‘blue rolls’ for the communal loos, for hand drying purposes?

Good thinking Jazzy! We have quite a few camping chairs so we can bring those - hopefully the earlier date this year means fair weather.

Happy to contribute towards buying hand wash / antibac / blue roll type bits if required.

Not sure if it's too much info (but in case it helps) Gaz and I are now both double vaccinated.

No worries Jem, I'm happy to contribute. :)

@curiosity, are you doing a quiz? Shall I bring pens and paper?

Thanks GJ for this.

I like the idea of more al-fresco cottaging. I think in the early days we did more outside but only when it was exceptionally warm. I'll definitely be packing a camping chair too (it's in my boot and unlikely to be moved between now and September!).

I am indeed doing a quiz, unless there are any objections, so pens and paper much appreciated.

If we have a slight overfill of the cottage then we might have some spare cash to throw at communal hygiene supplies.

Yes, we had those large disposable BBQ trays outside, and one year there was a drum kit set up - that was awesome. :)

Yay! I know it will be different this year, but quiz makes it a bit better. :)

Any cash left over can go towards toilet rolls, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, etc if people like.

As it stands, we're looking at costs of approx £77 per person for cottage, so if everyone wanted to pay about £80 each that'd leave over £60 for loo roll, tea/coffee etc??

(Not got final figures yet so don't send me more cash)

Being as I was maybe anyway, there is a strong chance i'll be free on Saturday at least. Would folks be ok with me rocking up in the afternoon for some board games, staying for the quiz, and then fucking off home late night?

Happy to chuck in some cash for food and shit if need be!

Absolutely! (Can't speak for everyone though :p)

I hope more people do that too, to be honest. It would be lovely to see people, even if just for a day. :)

Totally great, wilkommen Trooper!

My friend Potter is 50/50, so I might just pop the deposit for him your way Jem, and we can figure things out later? He has a camper van so that's an option for him. As for Coronavirus fears, I reckon if we all just minimise our socialising in the week prior, thus improving the odds, and then just play it safe the week after too. Worthy sacrifices for the glory of Beex-Cottage.

Costs sound good Jem. :)

So, how do people feel about (two thirds of) the Yes, Chef!s cooking dinner on Saturday as normal?

It's probably beyond the time we have to do anything that isn't "help yourself" style, but we'd love to hear your thoughts.

Sounds great. The Saturday meals are always excellent. Unless you're planning on serving the other 1/3 of the Yes, Chef!s as a stroganoff.

Hey all. As there's been no movement on deposits etc over the past couple of weeks I can confirm that the total cost per person is £79.40

Did we confirm if we all wanted to chuck in a few quid towards supplies? (Could always sort this later with Jazzy?)

Is that £79.40 less the £20 so £59.40?

Apologies, it has been a warm day.

Ughhhhhhhhh sorry guys, I've cocked up. :( My ~fancy~ spreadsheet was only supposed to count people (to work out cost per person) if there was a value in the deposit column, and it didn't, it included everyone (including people who said they were interested but didn't pay a deposit) so it's £90 per person rather than just under £80.

Massive apologies for the inconvenience for those who've already transferred what they thought was the remaining balance last night or this morning.

So, just to confirm: if you've only paid the £20 deposit, you now owe £70. If you have paid the £80 you need to pay another £10. There's no rush though.

Again, I'm sorry. :'( Not having a very good week here. Should have got Kovacs to the do the spreadsheet! :nerd:
