Interesting stuff - the Atomiswave was an arcade system released by SNK / Sammy / Sega and it runs using Dreamcast hardware and some people are 'converting' (i.e. fixing) the games so they play natively on Dreamcast hardware

Radiooooo is a nice little site where you can listen to music from various decades from various countries. However, if you click 'Islands Mode' in the top-left, there's an '8-Bit Island' (although it's just any videogame stuff really as Xenon 2 just popped up for the Amiga) playlist too.

"8-bit" should be a world heritage phrase and its use strictly controlled.

A friend had one of these handhelds when i was at school and it seemed so much more complex than the ones i had - but someone used the shell to put a real emulated version of Defender inside one

For those with Amazon Prime, they've added Special When Lit today.

Special When Lit rediscovers the lure of a lost pop icon - pinball. This award winning documentary joins the fans, collectors, designers and champion players from across the globe who share the story of a phenomenon that once swept the world.

I remember watching that a few years ago and enjoying it - there are about 2 or 3 documentaries that cover the 'end' of the Pinball era

I bought a new tv, which has android.. which is actually working quite nice for some catch up services, but also for Retroarch.. especially as it supports my 8bitdo SF30 controller as well, (which I recently found again after clearing out my summer holiday bag from 2019)..

But more to the point, I discovered Retroatch now supports retroachievements as well, which is sort of nice... I just got an achievement for beating the first world of Super Mario Land e.g. so befriend me! https://retroachievements.org/user/Romanista

There are still a few hanging on. Many more coin drop machines and claw rip offs now though. And quick fire games for winning tokens

The one in New Brighton (the best Brighton, for those playing along at home) is closing very soon after however many millions of years due to falling attendances. Getting a big new hotel instead, I think.

When I was small my favourite part of the arcades were always the horse racers. I’d always place my bets on the pink horse. I think they went up in value in the same order as the balls in snooker.

Haha! That’s them. I think the versions near where I lived had eight horses is the only difference, and it may be my imagination but I’m pretty sure they raced slower than that.
