I do have a soft spot for French hot hatches. They are bad for me but so good.

Guess who forgot to create a bed so that I had a nearby spawn point? :'(

Carry materials for a teleport gate and plonk one down on the shore when you land, that way the "naked get your stuff back run" is a lot quicker

Well, it's funny you should mention that...

After getting killed on my second run, I decided for attempt 3 I wouldn't bother to re-make armor, weapons etc, I'd just run in naked and take my stuff back. Mined just enough copper to make bronze nails for boat 3, travelled all the way out there, made a bed in a nearby abandoned hut so that I wouldn't be miles away if I died, ran in, grabbed grave number 2.

After a couple of rough starts I finally managed to take out the Draugr Elites x2 and spawn point, take back grave number 1 and set up camp.

At this point I decided I'd return to my original home, pick up supplies, pop by one of my camps to take down a portal I'd created there so that I could reconnect a portal from the Draugr Village to home. Did that, back in the boat. So far so good. I'm in the boat, with all my stuff + supplies for the portal, minutes from my new base in Draugr Village... get smashed to shit by a massive sea serpent.

Just a little shout out for NARITA BOY which I bought yesterday and then spent all evening playing.

Game wise it's a fairly standard action platformer with some light puzzling, all done well but nothing ground-breaking, it's the aesthetics and in particular the incredible music that really elevate this one.

On GamePass for 'free' which I don't have so I paid £20 for it. By all accounts it's pretty short (7-8 hours) with not much replayability but that's fine with me, not every game has to be a 50+ magnus opus.

Here's a playthrough video, if you like the look and sound of it, give it a go I'd say.

It probably doesn't help that my saved file has everything unlocked, included the higher difficulty, and that I've not played it in months, but I barely got anywhere with the Binding of Isaac: Repentance DLC last night. I think at best, I managed four levels, so I've only seen a tiny bit of the new content; there's some nice new music and some challenging new enemies and bosses so far though.

Should keep me busy over Easter.

Subnautica.

I've been so excited crafting tools that I haven't really grasped where to get a steady supply of food or water from. I know I need salt for the water, but struggling to find any.

Got ten minutes?

Get into Wreckfest and have a 10 lap figure 8 race with 24 cars.

Superb.

I fired up Dishonored again the other day. Never got very far in it first time around.

I immediately enjoyed being back in the world again. Much less on rails than the Uncharted business I'd been playing recently.

So I was very much aggrieved when it kept crashing. I was on the Pendleton (sic?) brothers level, and whenever I get hit by an enemy the screen becomes irredeemably red and stays that way until I die, no matter if I manage to get away to safety, it stays like that. And then I have to die, and it sorts itself out. Until I'm hit again. Rinse and repeat.

It's annoying. So I ditched it in favour of Spidey, though would be all ears if anyone has experienced and fixed this problem themselves. I looked online and it seems to be a thing, but most people suggest reloading your save, which isn't working for me.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. To be fair I'm using the same save game file but I can't face playing it all through again and getting hit with the same issues.

So I think Dishonored is done for me.

Does it spoil Dishonored 2 not to have played the first one?

Dishonored 2 has been winking at me from my library for some time, but I didn't feel right playing it without properly playing the first. So I've started Dishonored from the beginning again, and am hoping to avoid any game-breaking bugs this time around.

That said, not a bug, but at the end of the first mission it informed me I'd killed 8 people, when I'd studiously avoided killing anyone (aside from two guards who felt the steel of my crossbow through their necks after I ran out of sleeping darts). Throughout the mission I either used sleeping darts or strangled people into unconciousness.

Do unconscious people die if you hide them in water? I mean, I know the answer is obvious, but I'm unsure of how Dishonored handles such things.

First point!

- true, I will admit to the slaughter of two. But 8? Where did the additional six come from? I was humane AF.

Second point!

- I think that would be a good idea, yes.

Still playing PUBG nightly. Been getting pasted a lot, as it seems many people who stopped playing it are now playing again. We still get our chicken, but nowhere near as often as before Xmas. That doesn't stop it being bloody good fun though. There's at least one really hilarious play a night.

That was yesterday's. I was hiding in a hut from the red zone when all of a sudden the game delivered two players to me. The red zone blew their truck up right outside my front door. It was like peanuts, they even took the shells off for me :D Easiest kills ever.

What's so funny though is when the red zone ended the main zone closed in and I was getting chunked. So I ran, and a red zone started in exactly the same fucking place. I died in it. Oh irony......

This is very more-ish!

I started last night "for a quick look" and then it was midnight!

Day/night cycles are amazing. I've got a locker full of rubber and brass and a radio signal 1200m away to investigate. I have set out and am about to run out of food and water! Which is an annoyance as I have an abundance of pipes, an air pump and some flares with me.

It's beautiful to look at, and the sounds are amazing.

Also, it is fucking terrifying.

Love it.

I was turkeying for a bit more Blasphemous so fired it back up yesterday. I've avoided spoilers as to how to reach the niggly bits I missed on my first playthrough as I knew I'd like to suss them out myself, so I was delighted to see the option to upgrade my completed save to 'Ascend' (new game +). It gave me an answer in the first 20 mins as one of the first WTF doors became openable. I love this game.

Man, it's harder now though I've chosen a penance.

Hades.

I loved the style of Bastion, but found it a real chore to play.

I skipped Transistor, so cannot comment.

I loved the weirdness of Pyre.

But Hades is definitely where it's at. I generally bounce-off rogue-likes, and I think the rogue-liteness of this one really works for me.

I love the sense of progression, no matter how slight it might be. I love how the world opens up in organic and leisurely ways. A new conversation here, a new object to interact with there.

I love the way each run makes you play completely differently depending on the perks you choose. There are runs where I'll completely ignore Cast because I felt it was a bit pants. But then if you get some juicy power ups for that, it changes the game.

I'm not doing very well, I keep getting mullered by the Fury woman. But I'm loving having a game I can genuinely pick up for 10 minutes or 90 minutes, and still get the same pleasure from it.

It's a setting, you can turn it off and on as much as you like, and it only gives you help if you fail to get out the previous time. (and records show if you have it on or off)

It’s called God mode. It’s in the settings.

Ta chaps. I turned it on the other day. I don't think I would have done without the recommendation, as its name, clever as it is, makes it sound a bit too cheaty.

But managed to ascend to the third realm last night before letting myself die a silly death. I'm noticing how my attention starts to wane 40 minutes into a run. Got lucky with a boon that gave me an explosively powerful special, meaning I could cause a massive amount of damage from generally safe distances. That said, it's noticeable how much more aggressive the enemies in Elysium are. Think I need to focus on perfecting my dash attack, as a lot of dashing gets done.

I've read comments about such runs and simply can't fathom it. Intrigued to see how it manifests.

Has anybody played Townscaper? It looks so beautiful, and I’d really love to play it but I guess I’m going to have to wait for the Switch release as I doubt my Mac would handle any kind of games now.

Just had a quick go during a meeting. It's insanely straightforward and intuitive.

Potentially fairly shallow, but great for a creative zen-like experience. Essentially you're painting with buildings.

I'm very late here but wow, Mario Maker on the Wii U is so, so imaginative and fun. The little bite-sized levels they included to demonstrate the concepts are brilliantly playful.

Our kids love designing silly levels, and once they found the option to record their voice there was lots of "POO! BUM! WILLYS!" humour to be had.

It's an absolute riot of fun and the Wii U game pad is just such a neat interface. This game alone was worth picking up the second hand Wii U for.

I have really got into Assassins Creed Odyssey, I know it is not the best game in in the franchise, but I am loving Ancient Greece. The vistas are amazing as normal. The combat can be a bit repetitive, but that is AC :)

Decided to give BOTW another go now I'm back on the trains more. Now stuck here.

It can, indeed, fuck off.

Aliens Fireteam is pretty much what I want from an Aliens game. Slaughtering hundreds of xenomorphs, then getting a bit killed.

I mean, you don't have to do every shrine. I'd ignore any that weren't fun.

It was indeed more fun on the wiiU than on the switch ,even though the world maker makes the switch version very interesting as well...

Can you still download levels on the wiiU though?

I am currently playing Hollow Knight, which is nice, gentle fun.
