Thanks guy, Myppy Moo did spoil me, he even made me a cake!

The day was slightly spoiled at about 5:30pm by finding out I’d not got a job I’d applied for - would have basically been a promotion - not from my manager but from the colleague who’d got it texting me... The whole thing has been a farce and has been drawn out for 2 weeks with loads of dodgy/unprofessional stuff going on around it. Think it’s time to look for a new job.
Happy 30th Birthday to me!

Sorry to hear about the job, but it sounds like it’s not been run in the best way. Hopefully there is something even better for you on the horizon. Cake looks surprisingly lush for a Myp-job :D

Has anyone used manomano.com? There seems to be some good bargains on there.

Yes I am still hunting garden furniture.

Hit and miss. It's mostly made by the lowest bidder stuff, especially where it's cheap, but if you're looking for something where build quality isn't super important (I've used them fine for garden storage boxes) they do have good prices

IKEA do similar sets to that for a similar price, which doesn’t feel quite so much like pot luck on build quality:

Sport Pursuit happen to (oddly, given they are mostly a sports stuff discounter) have a garden furniture sale. They usually have little known brands from overseas, sometimes good, sometimes not. These Greenhurst ones, though, seem to be sold in Robert Dyas and Wilko, but are a bit cheaper. More expensive than Ikea and Manomano.

We bought our garden furniture from IKEA (a different style) and it is fantastical solid and the build quality is excellent.

Just keep an eye out for it, Kov. Ours was out of stock then the table came in a couple of days later and the chairs a day or two after that as well.

A catalogue of errors at work today.

I had a call from dispatch late yesterday afternoon, asking if I could cover some calls for another engineer who's going to be working in a distribution centre all day today.

This involved collecting parts assigned to him in Stoke, with calls in Bebington and Macclesfield. Quite a lot of driving. I had four other calls in Cheshire as well. When I went to pick up my own parts in Salford one of the other guys on my team was ranting about being called in on his rest days to cover for another engineer on leave and then not getting any calls. He didn't get any yesterday either. So, I got the Cheshire calls transferred to him to ease the load on me.

Now I've driven 114 miles to Bebington via Stoke ...... and there is NO call here. There'd been one earlier, but yet another engineer had already been and fixed the problem.

Sounds appealing, but there are issues with doing that:

1. I don’t know where he is.

2. I don’t know where you are.

3. I’m not allowed any private mileage in my van.

4. I am constantly on the clock, so am usually heading straight from one job to another.

I thought my eye was hurting a little this morning. Then, whilst I was on the phone, suddenly I couldn’t see properly and I had a sizeable stye appear in what must have been seconds.

I phoned my Ma to ask her if she had any ideas how best to treat it, and she told me to rub my wedding ring on it. Thanks, Ma.

I’ve put a warm compress on instead.

One of our neighbours has got one of those sonic cat repellent things on their fence, and I have more than one photo of one of ours sat next to it. :DD

Is that just so you don't have to clean the bath? Charitably, maybe for parents with babies who always poo in the bath? Otherwise, it seems like a plastic 'solution' to work (and, as you say, let's hope authorities keep a watch list for buyers).

From what I can tell in my searches it’s for people who want to use a hotel bath but don’t want to use the hotel bath. It’s the bath equivalent of people lining loo seats with strips of loo roll in the 80s and is sold as something to stop you getting germs from the bath.

Loads of older people used to do it in the 80s in public bathrooms because of the mistaken belief (and one that was widely reported) that you could catch HIV from toilet seats. You used to be able to buy loo seat liners as well, which existed long beyond the belief that you could catch HIV from loo seats. I’ve spoken to women my age before snd we all had a mum/aunt/grandmother/older sister as a young kid that would put down strips of loo roll before taking us to a public bathroom when we were very young. Probably different for boys who stand up.

When we went to Vegas all the loos had a dispenser for seat liners.
