The Irregulars: it's basically Doctor Who in Victorian London with blood and ghosts and contemporary language. It's pretty good, though.

The Nevers is another steampunk Victorian show, and well worth checking out.

Also the Season 2 finale of For All Mankind is superb.

Yes, superb. The whole of S2 has been pretty consistently superb.

Started the new Fargo last night. Utterly brilliant.

I had seen it criticised for having an overly long intro. Which, at 30 minutes, might be fair. But what an intro it is. If all shows had intros like that, i'd watch nothing but intros.

Intro.

Also, pretty excellent and surprising cast, with Chris Rock, Ben Whishaw and Jason Schwartzman.

And there's a character called Doctor Senator. Which is genius.

Looking forward to that. We're currently watching season 2, got one episode to go. I don't know how but we'd seen seasons 1 and 3 and somehow never even knew this one existed. Fortunately the order doesn't appear to matter much if at all. What's more is we've watched it all on All 4 with adverts etc. then last night I realised that it's on Netflix

We watched the last series of Supernatural and I'm pleased it's finished as it was pretty damn tired. It was both a slight anticlimax and also a bit... moving... in a way

I'm also a touch saddened as the 15 year run means it has been there as a thing Lady T and I have enjoyed, and that 15 years represents much of our time together, this silly TV show was a bit like a constant that is now gone, and I'm thinking about how much in my life had changed over that time.

Ha, we did the old 1-3-2 too. Watched 1, started 2 and felt disappointed it wasn't a continuation of 1 so stopped, watched 3 when it came out and realised just how brilliant it all was, then watched 2 and enjoyed it enormously.

I'd be interested to see the threads that do exist between each of the series, as I'm sure they must be there, but I'm happy to watch and enjoy each series as its own thing.

I’ve watched all of Final Space. My review is:

Season 1: great stuff, just brilliant.

Season 2: meandering dull quests to find some thingys where death is meaningless that didn’t hold half of the appeal as season 1. Probably a few episodes too long an’ all.

I stopped watching, ages ago, as it seemed to disappear from the UK. I could VPN to the US, but I am too lazy :)

We watched the last few series on Stan (I think that's the Aus version of another streaming service) buuuuuuuut if you stopped ages ago I'm not sure I would recommend picking it up again. The last few series were certainly an improvement over some of the mid-to-late series but still, it felt a lot like diminishing returns overall.

I'm glad we finished it off though.

Watched the first episode of "The Underground Railroad" on Prime last night.

A very convincing depiction of how horrific slavery was in the US. It benefits from mostly concentrating on the slaves themselves rather than the big house, and by ensuring that they are shown to be people with names and histories rather than just a silent anonymous bloc. I'll carry on watching but I think it might need to be done in small doses.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I didn't realise that it was going to be a magical realist piece but once I accepted that they were going to take the "Underground Railway" literally I didn't think it detracted from the rest of the storey

I watched the first episode last night. Absolutely loved it. The grimyness of the sets really added to the atmosphere. Looking forward to working my way through it.

My normal criticism of the show is that very little happens for 8 episodes of S1 then ALL THE SHIT HAPPENS. So if it feels slow stick with it, basically.

Yes. The show runners were certainly luxuriating in the TV format and took 10 episodes to cover off about half of the first book. The production values were mwah though!

I’ve watch Invincible.

It was very good, it’s just shame about some of the animation was a bit barebones. Hopefully they can have a bigger budget for season 2 and improve the looks a tad.

The Boys made me feel deeply uncomfortable in watching it, pretty much from the outset. Russell was really enjoying it (the show, not my discomfort) but I’d have to psyche myself up to watch it.

Yeah, I found The Boys a bit much, much of the time, but I tolerated it because the rest of it was so entertaining.

Happy on the other hand... well, series 1 was brilliantly awful and entertaining. Happy series 2, while still very entertaining and visually out there, was just too much, too often. Too much squelchiness.

I pretty much agree with this, though the accents! If I lose concentration, it takes an effort to get away from the idea that it's all terribly jolly and here's RADA having a day out and doing, oh gosh golly cor blimey, all of the London accents. I'm so glad they let one of the leads stay Irish.

Right? Here's a photo of Eminem's daughter Hailie, who he mentioned in some of his songs. Songs about how he was going to kill her mother, and cheerful stuff like that.

For some reason i had Back to the Future III in my head and I (for obvious reasons) refused to accept your point.

But it's frightening how... meh it would be for someone travelling back from 2021 to 1991. Yes, we've gone through insane technological change, but it's hard to imagine it feeling as otherworldly as an 80s Marty dropping back in the 50s.
