We ordered some mini bins for the kitchen to lovingly pre store our waste before we put the waste in the bin proper.

They arrived smashed so now we have to put the bins in the main bins and I've never been so confused.

Binception.

I put the red bin (for general waste) out on the kerb on Friday morning, just like always.
It was pouring with rain on Friday evening when I got home.
On Saturday morning I went to bring the bin back up and it was GONE :'(

I called the council on Monday, and they sent a new one. It was there waiting in the garden on Wednesday afternoon.

Here's picture that I asked Lady T to take of it.

I think we are going to request a bigger bin soon, as this standard sized one is a bit too small for us. I have a form to fill in for that.

Nice garden! I glanced at the photo before reading and thought that you'd taken your wheelie bin out for a walk in the park.

I think your red bin is mis-named. Otherwise, one of the top five bin posts in Beex history, I reckon.

The gang's all back together.

Green looks pleased AF to see Red back, but Yellow seems slightly suspicious and awkward.

Also my neighbour saw me taking pictures of my bins and then I felt a bit awkward and scurried back inside.

Yep, Wingecarribee shire; just along from what I think is the more charmingly named Wollondilly shire.

Fun factonews: Wingecarribee shire council made national news for being so shit, incompetent and corrupt, and such a generally awful bunch of bullies that the federal government stepped in and booted every single councillor out.

Why did they travel so far into the garden to deposit the bin?

The angle of the photo is a bit misleading.

That's the front garden, the pavement is a couple of meters to the right. I'm imagining they kinda tucked it in there so this one wouldn't get nicked too.

Serco are on strike so no recycling pickup this week or last week. Irritating.

I missed the brown bin collection which is a disaster tbh, both completely full of Hedge trimmings and grass clippings. Another fortnight until next collection

It was very windy on Friday night, so the empty bin on the kerbside (it was collection day) had blown a fair way down the road by the time I went to bring it back in.

Our collection was late this week, but I'd seen that the council had posted something about some of their staff having to self-isolate, so I guess they're short on numbers this week.

Last time our recycling was collected, one of the two (I requested an extra one with all the boxes I get delivered that I can't reuse) weighted bags I have for cardboard went missing. Not a problem - you can request replacements via the council website. The replacement got dropped off last week and of course today as recycling was collected, my original bag turned up, so I now have three. Exciting times. :)

These are the most exciting bin updates since our neighbours bin got stuck in a tree. I'm really invested in these stories now.

Oof. Do you have any precedent to say if they’ll collect any excess bags of recycling as well as the bin full?

Here’s a question: do folks here pay for their garden bin collections, and if so, how much? Ours are free, but the local council make a very big thing of this on their website. Basically ‘be grateful, proles! You have no libraries, but you also now have no hedge trimmings!’

They recently brought in a charge for it here - £36 a year.
