Nightmare is completely unplayable unless you just RUN through the levels to the exit.

I don't have an xbox and haven't played the live version of it.

I managed more than just that on the pc "back in the day"

Heh. It's always great fun playing Deathmatch against dumb American teenagers who have no idea where any of the weapons are on a level. The two I was playing against tonight eventually tried tag-teaming me. They actually managed to kill me once as well.

"Dude, he's got the rocker launcher! Where did he find that?"

Er, it was in the room I chased you into - you ran right past it and I picked it up and killed you with it.

I haven't tried it against Randoms, but it does remind me of me playing 4 people at school at quake. At school, I was one of the people in charge of the computer department. We'd often set up a game clearly labelled as ours, and play on it for a bit. One lunch, everyone left the game, but just as I was about to go, 4 people jumped onto the game. Cue a 122-0 thrashing for them. Even when all 4 decided to gang up on me. Across the room, I'd hear cries of "Quick, it's the blue guy, kill him..... NOOOOOOOOoooooooo". (I was wearing quite obvious blue armour, and they were in the rather nondescript default armour.) I felt really very smug indeed. The lowest they ever got my health was 55.

They didn't appreciate my argument afterwards that if you're going to join a game, you really shouldn't join the one clearly labelled as having probably the best people in the school.

Yeah, one of the guys tonight adopted the tactic "It's the red guy! Run awaaaaaay!" So it wasn't really surprising that I killed him repeatedly, especially as he pretty much ran in a straight line. The other one at least was trying, but his "Now I have the rocket launcher, bitch!" was rather spoiled by me sneaking up behind him with my own rocket launcher and killing him. Again.

I’ve been playing Doom 64 on game pass. It’s Doom but, no, it’s just Doom. I kinda like it though. It’s slower paced and tightly designed. Weird that there’s no reload animation for the super shotgun though. And those flying skulls are fucking OP.

I’ve never had a N64, but then again Mario 64 is an irritating turd so I probably never missed anything.

I started that on the Switch recently. Feels right playing on Nintendo hardware. It’s the only one I hadn’t played!

I thought it was a really good version. Just different enough.

Also, the new versions aren't as dark as the original which is a good thing.

Turns out I’ve got it on hard difficulty which replaces shotgun guys with hell barons. Loads of them. In tight corridors. Or behind a door. Where you’ve got to fight them over a tight platform. Which has a massive drop. Over green lava.

Level 5. I’m only dipping in and out when I’m sat on the sofa during the day (not very often).

Come to think of it, I’ve never played Doom 2. I’ve only played Doomuno on the Jaguar.

I’ve got all Dooms on Steam apart from 64 and the new one that sounds very disappointing. Saw this for a couple of quid on the eShop so couldn’t resist. It’s very smooth and satisfying! It doesn’t have enough fog to be an N64 game though.

I thunked that generally doom were better than doom 2. Mainly as the mid section of doom 2 has some right duffers of levels.

Man, this game is so cunty, there’s these stupid ass Cacodemon type things that fire nothing but flaming skulls at you. These flying fuckers will not fucking stop at any distance to constantly headbutt you to death, taking massive chunks of energy with each hit, and this bastard just keeps spawning them and even his fucking death animation causes about 5 to just appear out of thin air. And, by god, the game just loves to spawn in enemies out of thin air too. Not even waiting behind a wall or anything, just zap and they’re behind you locking you against a wall. Level 17 is the fucking worst as you get stuck into a square shaped corridor as hell barons, flying fuckers and pinkies just spawn at the ends of the corridor locking you in place with nowhere to run. And I’ll be damned if the fucking ability to swap your weapons isn’t the slowest shit ever either. When I’ve got a flying skull butt fucking me and want to switch to the chain gun I’ll be dead before the animation stops, as the game slowly registers you want to change weapon and then the current weapon slowly descends off the screen like your armaments are switched by Doom guy’s arthritic grandma. And how many fucking bullets does a cyberdemon require to fuck off to the black land? Do I have enough bullets? Nope. Does that berserk med kit mean I’m seriously expected to get close enough to punch him to death? It best fucking not.

God I hate this game. Can’t wait to have a go later.
