Is this any good? It looks kind of cool.

And yes... it is good! Very stylised and a bit confusing but I'm enjoying it.

If anyone is interested, the Gods remake is £1.67 on there too, but I was never much for the original, so I won't be bothering.

Apparently it hasn't got the original song and, if you ask me, looks worse than the original did! There's a toggle for retro graphics though so I'm still slightly tempted.

There are a few other 8p games available too. You can see them here. Could all be a load of crap, but 8p.

I have indeed! That was the main reason that I bought a Gdemu. I've been putting it off for ages since I've got a lot of the heavy hitters on disc anyway but the promise of Metal Slug 6 tipped me over the edge.

Turn it off now ? - you can just login and hit the button then worst case next year it does not auto sub and you have to click a button to get it on PSN or you get it somewhere else cheaper

(*) yes i know you wont but i can point at this message in a year and say i told you so !

I've made no estimate as far as I know, but figured I'd get in on this game. It's a been a surprising year of gaming for me. I had no idea I was going to buy a Switch for a start. It's my first console since the DS Lite back in 2008, and only my third ever, the first being the Amiga 500 if you count it as one. Already I feel it's something of a landmark gaming device for me.

Looking through my Steam purchasing history, I see there's a few DLC I immediately forgot I bought straight after buying them, namely the Stellaris and Cities Skylines DLC. To be honest I think the Stellaris money is a bit of a waste. Like most Paradox grand strategy games I just bounce straight off them, despite thinking they're great for me in theory.

Favourite purchases so far...? For PC it's definitely ATS: Idaho and Colorado. I suspect ATS is in my top three PC games of all time now. On the Switch? Outside of the initial Animal Crossing outlay probably Katamari Damacy, which is utterly splendid. Mario Kart 8 hasn't arrived yet, but am super-eager to play. Whelp, time to see the summary and wince!

Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing Bundle with Carrying Case <344.00>

Switch Online Membership <17.99>
Wargroove <11.19>
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney <14.99>
Streets of Rage 4 <20.24>
Katamari Damacy Reroll <7.99>
The Long Dark <24.29>
Stillness of the Wind <3.49>
Mario Rabbids <11.09>
Jenny LeClue <2.99>
Shantae: Seven Sirens
Mario Kart 8 <36.99>
80 Days <1.99>
Red Wing: Aces of the Sky <1.44>

PC Steam:

American Truck Simulator: Colorado <8.99>
American Truck Simulator: Idaho <8.99>
Townscaper <4.79>
Stellaris Utopia DLC & Stellaris Distant Stars <11.08>
Mount & Blade Bannerlord <31.99>
Cities Skylines Campus DLC <10.29>

It's not worth the money yet. It launched in quite a sorry state given the build up of weekly dev teasers.

I think it's fun, but with sizable caveats.

The battle mechanics are great, the map and world lush, the feel and the handling and the graphics all work well together. Core gameplay of beating up peasants lobbing stones at you and progressing to field mighty armies and crying havoc is satisfying. I've had some stunning battles out in the desert as one of the tribes out there, doing my Lawrence of Arabia cavalry charges across sweeping dunes. Owing a town is a bit of a thrill.

There are still big issues with it though. Despite the Reddit butterlords scoffing mightily at the ease of running a kingdom and arranging alliances and wooing lords, the entire framework for doing so is rather obtuse and clunky. The risk / reward system of lords liking and hating you straitjackets you somewhat into similar nice guy playthroughs, despite my desire to villainously twirl a moustache. Village quests are super-valuable for the money they give you until you can get the coffers filled by managing a fief, but the repetition of the simplistic missions is a bit dull. It is still a bit buggy.

All the same I've sunk 116 hours into it, and not even conquered a kingdom yet. Probably because I keep restarting. I'd say it's worth it on balance, and they are beavering away updating it, but it is still somewhat unpolished and there are elements missing.

Mad Carnage (Switch) <0.51> Looks like a bit of a basic Battlecars ripoff, but it's only 89p (51p after a gold points discount) so figured I'd try it.

Couple of cheap bits from the GOG winter sale:
Carmageddon Max Pack <1.89>
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders <1.59>

Also, if you visit their Homepage, you can get Prison Architect for free. And Covert Action that I mentioned on here a little while back, is £1.39 at the mo.
