To be fair, I associate Zenimax with films not games.

Apparently, and understandably, they still need to honour the deal for Deathloop (Arkane's next game) and Ghostwire:Tokyo to come out on the PS5 (timed exclusive and console exclusive respectively); so we've got that going for us.

I've just played Halo ODST on my phone while sitting in the car... I can't understand the technology but it's amazing! It worked seamlessly.

Some really interesting stuff on backwards compat here.

TL:DR - You get a solid 60FPS on supported games, at higher resolutions up to native 4K.

Even going as far back as the 360 version of GTA4, and a whole raft of XB1 games. (Including XB1X upgraded versions that couldn't lock on 60.)

Massively quicker loading times from the SSD too. The games also support a 'save state' where it basically dumps the console RAM out to the SSD and you can resume it at a later point.

Uplifts such as this for example, and note the Series X is being pitted again the One X here, not the base One.

I definitely wouldn’t say that the XSX is chonking. It’s thicc and you probably wouldn’t want to put it in a cubbyhole (mainly cause it can chuck out some heat apparently) but it’s not the monolith it was made out to be.

I saw a comparison of the box next to the Steel Battalion box. The Xbox series X was slightly smaller so I hope that helps everyone else imagine it.

Apparently you can just drop shit directly into the fans at the top, which isn't a great design, especially with toddlers.

I'm tempted to get a Xbox Series S for 20 quid a month, with full game pass. That seems like a smart move IF Microsoft actually has some exclusives worth playing this time round and you don't have a 4K telly.

Cor, he’s right about this. And the holes on top are pretty big too. You could easily stick a pencil in the top and fuck that big old fan up, if you were so inclined.

Toddlers are endlessly inventive in their destructive ways, they are beings of pure chaos. And they're so sweet and entertaining too.

There was another release of stock on Game this afternoon and I think I've managed to get a Series X.

The Game website is awful. I had one in my basket a couple of times and it disappeared before I could finish checking out, then it wouldn't let me try and select a different bundle because I'd tried to add too many things to my basket, despite the only reason my previous purchase not working was a problem on their end.

I was having a look at how many physical games I’d brought for Xbox One during its entire lifetime.

It was two.

Two.

Halo & CoD: Ghosts.

I bought six physical PS4 games. I had over 100 Xbox 360 games at one point.

I bought loads of Xbox One games but have a feeling that I didn't play many of them... I might make myself sad and work out the percentages later on.

It's funny, because if you think back the bungled launch of the xbone, they were ahead of the game with regards to the digital distribution of games in future land. All that bollocks with non transferable discs fucked them over real good though. And mandatory Kinect? Fucks sake, Microsoft. Way to blow a big lead!

Despite all of that, the PS user interface still sucks big time. I hate the party chat system.

Yep, Sony have played catch up on that for years as they didn't really take it seriously until the PS3 and they were a long way behind (and remember how bad that launch was).

Which is weird, because if we’re talking a comparison with other consoles the PS party system is better than the Xbox One and now the Series X|S by a county mile.

1) Party chat system is quick and easy (you can even join previous groups and send an invite to previous invitees at the click of a single button)

2) the lag in the chat is FAR better than Xbox

3) and the PS records party chat simply and easily - at the click of a button (which you never have to click ever again. Set it up and it’s done). I can’t believe 8 years on and Xbox can’t record the reactions and chat of people playing to include in your video clips. Fucking ridiculous.

Sony may have been behind with the PS3 but they’ve been ahead in the PS4 and now the PS5.

I hate the PS4 party chat. It’s an absolute joke how slow it is and how it takes you right out of the game to look at a blue screen for about 42 years just to load back in but now have someone talking to you.

Yeah, it’s slow when you’re already playing a multiplayer game like CoD. If you start the chat before the game it’s much quicker.

It’s just a bit slow. You only need to do it once; it’s not like it’s game breaking or anything. You’ll probably still be waiting in the lobby for a match to load by the time you’ve finished. Mind you, it’s definitely got worse over the years though with updates and revisions because it was snappier way back when. Notwithstanding that I’d take it over the Xbox chat any day.

So it's slow and takes you away from the game but you'll still take it over the Xbox chat which is fast and doesn't take you away from the game? Got it.

It’s a minor inconvenience for the benefits which are, once again, for the hard of reading:-

1) The delay is better on PS than Xbox.

2) PS records party chat while Xbox still doesn’t.

Whilst I agree with the recording of party chat, I'm not sure about the delay. I use it regularly and I can't hear any delay at all.

It's as clear and as instant as talking on the phone.

Whut? It absolutely friggin isn’t!? Neither is the PlayStation either. Nowhere near. I’d suggest you go sing a song together with your friends and see if you’re all anywhere close to being in sync.

You get delay on any communication device because of the laws of physics. How do you know it’s any worse on the Xbox? What are your timings?

Because I use them both regular. It’s most noticeable when you play fast paced team games where chat can get unusable on Xbox for call outs.

I’m sure me and Simon were streaming on Xbox a while back and in the playback the call outs came way late after I’d spotted something on my screen. I can’t find it but it was probably recorded on the now defunct Mixer (since that used to be the only way to record party chat).
