If you are disturbing them, then they need to be checked. As half the ceiling is effected in mine, they need to remove it. I will be getting the other rooms skimmed when I can afford it.

In normal use, they will be ok

My dining room had an artex ceiling but I just boarded over it. Out of sight, out of mind.

Feel really tired today, just knocked my coffee all over the floor walking into my office and now I need to go into work this afternoon for 20-30 mins.

I might just go and hide under my duvet!

Around 15 (ish) months ago our youngest, who is not even 4 years old yet, smashed our plasma TV by hitting it with a stick.

The replacement TV has now been broken, by the same child - this time he threw a duplo policeman at the screen.

I was rather cross.

Are they extremely delicate screens? Duplo seems quite light, so either it would seem those screens are very delicate, or your kiddo has quite a strong arm. Maybe get them enrolled in Baseball training? If they make it big they can buy you a new TV.

I feel that modern screens are pretty fragile, there's not much of a protective layer over those delicate liquid crystal panels (higher end TVs may be a bit robust perhaps).

That bloody kid does have a good strong throw too, and I think he must have hit the screen with a particularly hard edged bit of the duplo person, sufficient to damage the screen enough to render it scrap.

I’m surprised in that case that you can’t buy something akin to a TV size screen protector, like people have on their phones.

Sorry about your screen. Fingers crossed the new one lasts many many years.

You probably need to get a smaller one and budget for swapping it for one of the same size every few years.

Smaller kids should have less powerful throws, after all.

That is unfortunate, though good luck with the baseball career. My parents were reminiscing on our days of breaking windows: a football, straight through the middle of a small window only just big enough to take it. A golf ball, bounced from the patio, cracking a window upstairs. And the porch window, broken by a xylophone beater.

A beater like this, mostly wool, surely. Surprising the force you can get into things, is all I'm saying.

When my brothers were small, one was an absolute terror for throwing things. He once threw a Batman toy, which hit a picture frame on the wall. It was about 10x12, glass fronted, with a metal frame, and weighed a fair bit. It slid along the picture wire then fell off the wall, right above where I was sitting, and the metal corner landed right on the top of my head. There was blood everywhere and took ten stitches and my hair has always grown white from that patch since.

We are going without for a couple of weeks. The eldest is devastated, but the youngest (the one that actually did the 'crime') just does not seem to give a care at all. Such joys.

It wasn't a ridiculously expensive screen so it can be replaced, but also it's inconvenient to us to get rid of the old one and go get a new one.

I find that they get more brittle with age due to all the on/off hot/cold cycles they go through over their life.

Certainly for larger screens, once they've got a few hundred hours on them, it seems possible to completely knacker them by farting in their general direction.

You could get a projector instead - at the very least it'll be something different to break :)

I could. But I don’t want to drill any walls.

Plus getting a trades man just to do the stuff that needs fixing has been tough enough

Just had a parking fine from 'ParkingEye' for a private car park in wales.

I am so glad I kept the pay and display ticket.

ParkingEye are a terrible company.

They are. Utter shits. I've had my fair share of parking fines and don't begrudge them when they're deserved, but Parking Eye basically fined me £60 for entering the car park then exiting without buying a ticket, after choosing not to stay.

Actually, that's what I was thinking of - "Why didn't I keep my tickets from Wales/Cornwall?" I'm sure I meant to, then I remembered I had picked my car parks fairly deliberately (which is no criticism - I had the luxury of having the time to do that).

I have filled in the online appeal, and have to wait up to 28 days. Not sure how they can not back down, as I have a ticked, with my reg on.

Just had a letter form a Solicitors, my Aunty had passed away. Looks like there was a funeral, and I was not told. You have to love families at times..

Knowing my family, I get not being told - it's always a mystery. But to hear from a solicitor is a bit impersonal, isn't it!

Oh Kov, that's awful. I had the same with a cousin a couple of years ago. Got a FB message on the way back from Meatup saying that my other cousin had missed me at the funeral. :(

Sending big hugs your way. :luv:

That's awful, sorry for your loss, Kovacs.

My Auntie died on Sunday. I'm thankful I was around the last few years to help where I could (she had dementia) and she managed to be at home with my Uncle when she passed away peacefully. I'll be able to attend the funeral despite limited numbers being allowed.

My mum died yesterday morning after being in and out of hospital lately.

My relationship with my mum has been virtually non-existent in recent years and I kinda feel like I've grieved that loss a hundred times over. I had decided to visit her regardless of the state of things but was an hour too late.

I just feel ... nothing. I have a feeling it'll hit me at the funeral maybe. I don't know. 2020 has been a rollercoaster.
