Great to see you all again this evening and I've already compiled my questions for next week.

I'll give you the theme closer to the weekend so you can all revise!

Great fun last night. Excellent mix of rounds and good to see everyone.

For those who didn't make it, last night we learnt that hibernating tortoises breath through their back, you can drive in a lane and even change gear in Outrun, and that the Cottage is near Hell's Brook.

On the road next week so might not be able to join in.

Dammit, sounds like I missed a good one. Last night was last night of the holidays, so everything was a bit emotional.

Life got busier very quickly in the PazHouse.

Maybe we should really test Kov's excel skills by saying everyone drops their worst round.

Assuming 5 rounds:
Code:
=SUM(LARGE(A1:A5,{1,2,3,4}))

I think I'd prefer
Code:
=SUM(A1:A5)-MIN(A1:A5)

Just in case we have a ridiculous number of rounds and Kovacs has to spend a couple of hours before the quiz creating the array.

I think I'd prefer Kov work it out for himself.

You've got a week Kov!

Also, my round next week will be all about this forum... so get revising!

So sad, now we don't get to see Kov's face light up as he discovers something new.

If we decide TheVision goes last, I reckon we can already assume his is the lowest-scoring round for a couple of us.

If anyone would like to pop round and revise the back of some game boxes, they're more than welcome.

I think next time I do one I'll aim for Japanese Saturn RPGs or indie Dreamcast releases. Nice and easy.

I was talking scalability. In the hypothetical situation we did a quiz with 100 rounds, then Grim...'s formula would be

Code:
=SUM(LARGE(A1:A100,{1,2,...,99}))
which might take a while to type out (although there's probably a pretty quick way to generate a comma separated list from 1 to n in Excel, but that's another question).

Edutainment!

Annoyingly the hostel I'm in for the next two nights doesn't have wi-fi in the rooms and all the public areas are closed. Not sure I can tether to my netbook at reasonable speeds!

I'll have a go at setting up a room with "start without host" enabled but have no idea if it'll work (if it does, please stack the chairs on leaving).

I also have ten questions - although it's very much an experimental round and I'm not sure how well it will be received.

The total points add up to 60 (I think, it might have been 80) and you will need to divide everyone's score by 6 (or 8)

Here are (half of) rule 6 and rule 7

...so 80 points are available.
KovacsC will divide your score by 8 for the purposes of fairness in the quiz.
