We just had a flash of lightning and an almost immediate rumble of thunder, but seems to have gone again already. Disappointing.

We’ve had another hour or so or mega storm. I guess if Armageddon is going to seed anywhere it makes sense that it would be here.

Long storm in our area of sout Manchester last night, Ollie (the dog) was not happy at all.

And of course, it rained quite hard at school run time yesterday and today.

On my way to collect mini fop from school today I passed a cyclist in his twenties on a busy road cycling with no hands on his handlebars, texting with both hands.

I shook my head at him as I passed.

He went fucking crazy. He started screaming at me and chased after me, asking me to fucking apologise for shaking my head at him and to stop or he was going to knife me.

I have to cycle through the park to get to the school so I turned into the park and he continued chasing me, screaming that he was going to kill me and my family, that he was the wrong guy to fuck with. Park was teeming with people but I just carried on cycling, didn't look back. I eventually got to the school where there were loads of parents and children and he was still right behind me. I cycled into the school and he stayed away, shouting that I was fucking lucky. I waited till he was gone then made my presence known to my daughter to ensure he wouldn't see her, and went home a different way.

Have told the police, but it was fucking scary. I don't believe he had a knife, if I did I wouldn't have gone to the school. I think he was just a mouthy person trying to have a fight. But still shaken up by it. And feel silly for doing that so British a thing of basically tutting at him.

Jesus! What a nutcase! Glad nothing came of it, you did the right thing by reporting him. Did you get a pic of him for the police?

That sounds petrifying, and I’m glad you got back safely.

I’ve stopped Russell tutting, or even looking at people in annoyance because of that same kind of thing. You never know when someone is going to spin off.

When D was a baby we were trying to go down our road, when two (or was it three? Can’t remember) lads were just walking straight down the centre of the road. Not actually walking, just kind of dawdling, lingering, so we were stuck behind them. After a few seconds of them just taking the poss and standing there, Russell beeped the horn, they started swearing and gesturing, and Russell squeezes the car by. But it was about 30 metres from our driveway, so they followed us in, surrounded the car, and started banging the window and shouting at Russell. They referenced that his wife and baby were in the car so why was he going to try it in with them. It was terrifying. I think it scared Russell a lot and now he keeps his head down. Shouldn’t have to, because they were purposefully being jerks and looking to make trouble, but right outside our flat was the wrong place for Russell to react.

Were you on a bike picking Mini Fop up? Or walking? I assumed a bike from the way it was written. If so, do you have one of those helmet cams, just in case?

Try to pass it off as a single bad occurrence. Something awful may have happened in his life today. He may have just wanted a fight from any quarter and you were the unlucky guy who happened to have a oath that crossed his today.

Sorry, you very clearly say you were cycling, over and over. My brain was elsewhere in the details.

Fucking hell. Should've shanked him, it's the only thing they understand.

But seriously, you did the right thing by avoiding a fight. Not worth getting hurt by some posturing wank-puffin

That sounds so horrible. I'm grateful my kids weren't with me at the time as I'm not convinced it would have altered his behaviour. But you're right, even the mildest reprimand isn't even worth it. You never know how people will react.

Thanks everybody, it's all good now. I didn't get a picture of him, didn't have my phone, but I gave a reasonable description to the police, who were really lovely. I just wanted them to know there's a rather volatile man on the loose.

I was thinking just now why mermaids have boobs, given their lower half is fish so they must lay eggs, and then I was all "Hang on a moment, MaliA, why do they have tummy buttons?". Relatedly, it's a warm day and the cherry ale is nice.

Because some of the geezers that painted them are pervs. In certain prominent depictions, the ningyo (Japan) is not quite half-female, but has a human female head resting on a fish-like body. Whatever turns you on, I guess.

Last night we did a "virtual escape room". It worked pretty well and is a bit like a choose your own adventure book. there were pictures, videos, and sound clips to give clues. It took a couple of hours to work through, but there were two puzzles that were so fiendishly hard we had to look up the answers to, but it was quite the fun thing to do. I would recommend, as an entertaining distraction.

The screen sharing via whatever Google hangouts is now called wasn't ideal, but it worked as much as it needed to. I would happily do another.

Yes, but fascinating.

I imagine most of us knew very little about the Falklands before the war, and it appears we know just as much about what's happened there since. I certainly had no idea about how much investment there had been.

Some of its history is quite bizarre.

Thanks for posting.

We've got new neighbours. We only knew the name of the geezer, so I checked FB to see if there was anything known.

Turns out to be this bloke. Elmano

Never heard of him before.

Mrs. W has heard him singing.

I am kinda excited i pick my new car up on Wednesday..

Although sorting the finance has been a pain, having a 'damaged' credit rating, only certain places will give me credit.

The dealers have been a pain with the finance company, just not providing the paper work. As they have not dealt with the finance company before.

On Saturday I spoke to the dealers and they offered finance through a broker they use.We progressed the application the brokers came back with the finance company I had found

What happened to the merch link? Am I missing it?

It's not so I can buy t-shirts I'm afraid, someone I know is looking to get some t-shirts made so I said I'd ask around for services.

Headline in the defence journal. 'Estonian Special Forces deploying to Mali will be loaned four Jackal armoured vehicles by the Ministry of Defence.

What has @maliA been up to?
