I got this similar looking one and then sent it back:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GN4H96T/ref=dp_prsubs_2

It was absolutely crippling, the lumbar support was like having someone's foot in my back all day.

I bought a cheapo Wayfair one to replace the dining chair I'd been using before. It's a vast improvement though in the hot weather we had been having a leather chair gets a little warm

For me it feels perfect, but that's not to say it'll be right for someone else. Comfortably firm, think like a nice train seat I guess in terms of the firmness of the cushion. Definitely not one that you sink into at all but I've just never had a moments discomfort even after a full day's work and then a couple more hours gaming in the evening.

I've been considering a secretlab chair myself, and I'm fairly sure that the chair I'm on at the moment is constricting circulation in my legs somehow because even after sitting normally on it for an hour or two (and not sitting "on my legs" which I often do) I end up with numbness in my foot.

Of course I could just get up and about, though.

Heh, I had exactly the same experience last week. Bought this and after half an hour I was a lot of pain for exactly the reason you said:

https://www.staples.co.uk/executive-cha ... 15246.html

It got sent back very quickly afterwards. No idea what to buy now though.

Cheers, yeah.Except for TTR and Mariokart.

Had the thrill of smuggling 283 tonnes of narcotics right under the noses of the 5-0 into a space station, only to find it didn't have a black market to sell them on, so I then I had to smuggle them out again, and into another system that did past the feds, and then I lost 800 space dollars on the deal. I borrowed a mesh chair from work. Far better than the leather office chair I’d been using.

Your problem is sitting at a screen for 12hrs a day without moving, not your chair.

Yeah, I gave it a properly good go too. Had it for almost four weeks and tried every adjustment possible, thinking I must be doing it wrong and not wanting to admit defeat. Even ended up taking the lumbar bit out entirely before I gave up on it.

Kelli-Leigh: Black soul singers can feel 'defeated' in the music industry

While I have sympathy for her, being screwed over in the music industry has been going on ever since artists had managers, regardless of race, colour or creed.

And then there are the artist shenanigans that go on as well. I found myself ousted from the prog rock band I was in in 1971 because one of the other members fancied playing bass and none of the others objected when I was sidelined.

I comfort myself in the knowledge that they never made it in the industry anyway.

I have a Herman Miller Aeron at work, and while I wouldn't compare it to that in quality in any shape or form, this is what I use at home and it's absolutely fine:

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/flintan-nominell-office-chair-with-armrests-black-s59208197/

I'm able to sit in front of computer all day without any physical issues.

Yep, I felt exactly the same way. Like, it looks all nice and comfy and modern; it can't possibly be so fucked, I must just be doing something wrong surely? Whereas my current ~£50 Argos job is perfectly fine (aside from the dying hydraulic cylinder) despite not having even a fraction of the bells and whistles of the new chair.

Yeah, that looks pretty similar to the cheap Argos job I've got right now (which I'm only looking to replace because the hydraulic cylinder is on it's way out so it near constantly slides me lower and need to be raised back up again) and it's perfectly fine. It's this, but in black:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6183347

IKEA aren't currently delivering though (well, my local one isn't anyway) so it's not an option at the moment unfortunately.

I think those gas lifts in office chairs are pretty standard and you can just buy them on Amazon etc.

Could be sciatical (if that's a word) - I used to get it super-bad when driving for more than an hour or two, until my doctor told me to stop putting my wallet in my back pocket and it completely stopped then.

I did wonder about that, not sure how to make sure I'm buying one that's compatible but I should probably look into it. I wasn't bothered initially as I was quite excited about the idea of a new comfy chair but obviously that's not worked out how I'd hoped.

Squats, planks, press-ups. Start doing these now. Otherwise it will get worse with each passing year

It's my oldest boys birthday today, 21! Which is crazy. He wanted me to pre-order an Xbox X for him but they're not available yet so I made him one out of cake instead.

I intended to make it actual size, but it's fatter and shorter at 17 x 26cm. The real thing is going to be massive, I can't believe how big it is!

Did you all have some weather tonight? We had a storm of inch wide hail boulders falling from the sky, flash flooding and the ice in the hail started to freeze up in the flooding like little platforms of ice floating on the flood water, plus some 60+ lightning strikes. It was weather like I’d never seen. We had loads of flooding here... when was that? This year had been so extraordinary I have lost all track of time... but when we had those that recent floods, but the flash flooding tonight was SO fast. Our road flooded in about four minutes.

Pretty much nothing here tonight, some thunder and far off lightning and that was in. Pigs had an early bedtime, I'm case it got worse, much to their disgruntlement.

Not a lot in Herts. Mostly sunny, some clouds, till 4 ish, then a couple of hours of rain on and off, and back to sun.

And yet it’s still ridiculously hot. This is, what? The third day of thunderstorms, now? Fourth?

I don't recall having days of thunderstorms in a row like this before. Tonight's was the closest, with one clap of thunder sounding like it was just a street away.

We had thunder from 11am until 9pm, with sheet lightning starting about 4pm and rain picking up at about 7. Then it went dead calm and hasn't changed.

Bloody muggy at both ends.

Odd weather, but nothing as odd as that @mimi!

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!

For an hour we could hear the thunder, and looking on a lightning tracker there was a huge crescent running round the north, east and south of Bromsgrove.

When it eventually arrived it was superb. The nearest lightning struck a couple of hundred meters away and it was the heaviest rain I’ve seen in years. Lots of flash floods in the neighbourhood though.

We've had a LOT of thunder and rain this past few days (starting Sunday when we got caught out in it :DD) but nothing quite as cool as yours Mimi; I wonder if you were right in the middle of it for a while?

I think we must have been, Jem. We’ve had local flooding here a few times, but nothing as fast as last night. The ice was incredible, and the sheer number of lightning flashes. A few of the lightning flashes these past few days have been very close. Tingly close, where it just sounds like a huge explosion cracking the street open.

@dr Zoidberg What lightning tracker do you use? I have BlitzortungLive and it was all lit up last night. It’s been very lively these past few days.

It’s in the App Store as “my lightning tracker and alerts”.

Herts has thunder! I knew if I wanted a dry walk then I had to be done by midday. I still didn't make it. Happy to have the excuse to stay in, now.

Took the afternoon off for a nice game of golf. Forecast said 10% chance of light rain. Got to the tenth and all hell let loose, fucking thunder torrential rain, the lot. Was playing well too. Absolute fucking bullshit.
