Yeah it's quite fun. Although sometimes the spawns are poorly done. Spawned into someones already fired bullets before

That happens in other modes as well - on small maps it also likes to :

Spawn you on top of the fire from your thrown Molotov
Spawn you on top of the semtex you threw at the end of your last life
Spawn you in the path of the airstrike or cluster strike you just called in

Also it's not letting me join/invite either you or Riles, Have you turned off crossplay?

I did get your message - and spent time crafting a reply on the crappy virtual keyboard only for it to begin the next match and lose it all :-(

The lobby itself has been fine before so it could just be the new patch thats throwing things off

Just played headquarters; this is definitely the first cod since MW2 that I can see myself loving although still not the heady heights of MW 1&2. Is there no playlist you can select of constant one game mode like search and destroy?

Also, my internet is so so so bad. I was sliding all over the place, running forward then glitching backward then forward again into a wall. So I’m going to blame my gameplay on that. I’ll think of a new excuse once I’ve got fibre :S

On the main game screen you can filter your ‘regular’ playlist to be one game type or a mix. So you can select just Kill Confirmed, or just Domination and Headquarters, etc.

Yeah basically on the main screen top option hit right and then select and you can toggle different game modes on and off

also other than a few games when someone wanted to get one shot kills for a quest we're basically always playing standard mode (no HC) as they seem to have the damage / time to die stuff set about right on there - but if you wanted HC modes then in that same toggle screen hit L1 and R1 to move between them

You should be ready for this evening at least! We've lost the cable we need to connect our headset to the controller so I've ordered a replacement but it's not arriving until Friday, so if I play with anyone in the next couple of days I won't be able to chat.

The CO2 emissions on this game must be like every player having a Routemaster bus idling on their drive all day ;)

That's all I'm seeing as well. Have they ever genuinely tried to explain why the updates are so horse-chokingly huge and constant?

Basically just downloading the whole game again every time. With repeated assets to improve read times on the mechanical hard drives in the current gen consoles

From what I've seen its more that they are not compressing anything - The full game is almost 200 GB on my machine , the 20 gig patch then is really only 1/10 of the game that its grabbing for an 'update'

FYI they do these type of updates about once a month + the 'seasons' once every 2 months or so (about double the size)

Just logged on to see if it was working. Couldn’t even get to the menus. Temporary maintenance and I was in a virtual queue (estimated time 17 seconds). After a minute or so booted me back to the desktop. Not a great start. :(

Thanks for the games tonight. We were taking turns each which is why there were long periods with radio silence; Jen was feeling shy.
Our internet was pretty laggy which is why we stopped playing games online but fibre is coming on June 25th so hold onto your hats, from that day onward I’ll get at least three kills per game :metul:

1) Jen shouldn't feel shy.
2) I guess the space giraffe explains why you never accepted my friend request...

Good to get everyone together - and you need to accept the friend requests stuff (your still not showing on mine)

When its laggy you will probably see three orange blocks in the bottom left hand corner (I could see them a few times when it showed your killcam) which is how it shows a poor connection - you might find some maps are better than others for it

And tell Jen she cant be quiet cause shes no longer got that game tag ('haud yer wheesht')

You can tell it’s changed days when I don’t even have an active online account!

Yeah there were a few games where it would suddenly start bouncing me around all over the place with lag but at least I have an end date in sight now and then I’m going to have super awesome internet.

It was like playing games in 2008, I really enjoyed it and will practice more to try and get groove back.

I think we should have accepted all of the friends requests on Jen’s PSN and Activision accounts now but let me know if any are outstanding.

I've not sent it yet but next time you open the game up hit triangle for the social menu and then r1/l1 to move through the menus and you should have an invite for the squad / clan which will show you in an easier view which users are online (regardless of platform) , gives you double XP for an hour (9:30 till 10:30 each evening) and allows you to set your clan tag to [BEEX] in gold (*)

(*) or you can pick out a fishy one but it will only be in the normal colour

It's really well done. The Gulag (was better when it was pistols/shotties), the buy back, the loadouts, it's not one and done like a lot of other BRs are. Although you've gotta stick together and call out targets and ping stuff, although I'm terrible at just hanging around in a building waiting, I wanna go shoot stuff.

Squad leader: ok we’ll just hole up here for a while, no engaging as we don’t want to give our position away…

Nick: RATATATATAT oh I didn’t kill that guy the other side of the map I was shooting with an SMG and now two squads are heading our way

I wasn’t sold on war zone when I played it outside of a squad, or with randoms. Then I played last night with my BIL and his friends and it was like a different game for exactly the reasons you’re talking about. When you tagged things, stick together, communicate and share weapons and upgrades it becomes really tactical, I loved it.
