No. Because she’s not in it.

Local for areas that were due for them. Also police and crime commissioners, for the six of us who bother.

Mrs B just got offered a new job that she really wanted, which is awesome obviously. What's less awesome is that the email they sent offering her the job sets out conditions including "presenting in person" proof of the qualifications she's claimed on her CV. That doesn't speak well of their attention to detail that they didn't think to amend what's presumably standard text in the email. I just don't understand how people can be such idiots, and now she's got to back to them and find a diplomatic way of pointing out that what they've requested is dumb as fuck and that they'll need to provide her with an alternative way to meet their requirements.

This is all happening with a background of them suggesting a start date ten days from now. Realistically she can't even hand her notice in until she's satisfied their requirements, and it's idiotic that they think that can all be done so quickly in the midst of a global fucking pandemic; especially when they're the ones wasting time by suggesting unachievable shit in the first instance.

I'm not sure why it's all annoyed me so much, except in as much as this sort of needlessly thoughtless bureaucracy always has done. Plus the fact that what should be a 100% happy occasion for Mrs B has been marred somewhat by her getting stressed over the potential impact of their stupidity. It's all just so unnecessary when someone at their side putting like 30 seconds of thought into what they were sending would've smoothed the whole thing over.

Has the email been sent by a person or spat out from some system? It's not great either way but possible in the case of the latter that it's just one of those things that's not been on anyone's priority list to change at the moment.

Someone sent me an email yesterday regarding a job and the spec includes a meeting in person, and I can't tell if it was written months ago and they've just struggled to find someone to take it on or whether they genuinely expect to meet me in person. 8)

It’s a bit crap but it’s something quite easily clarified/sorted and probably not worth getting all that annoyed about.

Unless they insist on it still afterwards, then fuck them up.

It was written by a person, albeit probably most likely copy and pasted or instanced from a template. To be fair the HR person has been pretty responsive so it's mostly sorted now ('right to work' can be covered by Mrs B showing her passport on a Zoom meeting and the proof of qualifications will apparently just have to wait until the organisation reopens properly post-COVID) but it was just all so unnecessary. Anyway, fuck it, it's all good news given that this is the change of career she's been hoping for since last year and gets her out of the fairly shitty (and temporary) role she's in right now.

Oh, for sure, I'm genuinely not sure why this kind of thing annoys me so much. Possibly I'm still smarting from my on-boarding to Evil Inc which they outsourced to a fairly useless third-party. So if there was any questions or confusion (which there was) then Evil Inc's HR couldn't give the slightest fuck and just kept palming you off. Like, I don't care about any of this shit; they're your fucking requirements! Utterly needless stress in the midst of an already fairly stressful life change, y'know?

Whenever I shut down my laptop I always hear "Shut down anyway?" to the tune of "There's no other way" by Blur in my head. I don't even like that song, it annoys me and now I hear it almost every day.

Anyone had any joy connecting a wireless keyboard to a smart tv (sony and lg). Basically I want to be able search on Youtube etc on the TV without having to use the laggy tv remote to input text.

Nice set up.

I want a paddling pool, but apparently I'm already at maximum redneck for this suburb.

Spend most weekends drinking beer in my Daisy Dukes, shouting Texan obscenities and throwing garden detrius at the pigeons who keep pooping on us from the trees above, all whilst surrounded by piles of junk I've fashioned into garden furniture.

Husband said it's like a missing scene from Tiger King.

My friend who runs a gaming "museum" was really happy when I sent him mine as he said they're really hard to get hold of, so maybe?
