What's with all the chairs against the surface in the bedroom? It looks like there should be a bar on the other side.

Whatnow?

They flew the spitfires for Tom Moore over Bedford this morning. I'm guessing that's a 'no' :D

The "spitfires"? How many of them are actually flyable nowadays? When they did the most recent flyby over London (I forget which of the numerous anniversaries it was celebrating), it was one spitfire flanked by two hurricanes.

Unless summat went wrong after I set out for work, it was a Spit and a Hurricane. They had a spare Spit on the tarmac in case it was needed.

I did a PC memory upgrade project at RAF Coningsby a couple of years ago, including a coupe in the Memorial Flight management office. It was a nightmare to find your way around. All the buildings are numbered, but as they've been built at different times, the numbers are very often not on adjacent buildings, so number 120 and 121 could be at opposite ends of the base.

About 60 worldwide. Probably a third in the uk.
Airworthy Hurricanes are less common

Sorry, I didn't even see this until it got quoted. I thought it was two, but looks like I wasn't quite right.

The wings are different, Spits have more of a curved rear and the wing tips are a bit more elliptical. Spits also have a radiator under each wing, while the Hurricane has a single one under the fuselage.

I started following Stoo (he of Sensi fame) on the twitters recently, and in the past few days have noticed him liking an awful lot of tweets from the likes of David Icke, and other “Coronavirus is a hoax” type stuff.

Never tweet your heroes, I guess ;)

Did very well in the video games round of my regular lockdown quiz, but you could sense mutiny in the air when the guy running gave "Zelda" as the answer for "name the lead character" picture question.

Next round is "Art". Cue mass groans. Afterwards, cue massive argument over whether Picasso was only ever a cubist.

Due to a combination of sun, rain, and idleness my lawn really needs a mow. Got out the lawnmower, drove it across the grass, turned it for the return, and sliced through the power cord. At least I have a valid excuse for putting this off for another few days.

The advert breaks on Quest are so long that I was able to get dressed, brush my teeth and hoover the upstairs without missing a second of Wheeler Dealers

Maybe you should watch the ad breaks and do other stuff during the intervening bits.

I was catching up on the wifi thread and the smart speaker thread, and I'm replying here with a post that's half-relevant to each...

I just got the Google Nest mesh wifi thing. It's pretty cool. My router is plugged into my Virgin router (I tried turning the latter into modem mode, but that kept breaking it), with little issue at the moment.

Girlfriend is in the office upstairs while I work(!) from the dining table, and we both have awesome speeds.

But her wifi point is also a smart speaker! I upgraded to Spotify family, and she can listen to her playlists in the office while I listen to mine down here. Pretty chuffed with it.

I read that I had to turn off my Hub 3.0 routing ability so that the Google may live (this). But each time I did that and rebooted it, I got instant light of death. Red or green. Virgin are funny like that.

So I now have two main wifi networks.

If you give your 2 networks the same name and password, your devices won't know the difference and will slide between the two

I had this issue when I put my virgin hub into modem mode to setup mesh. It only leaves one Ethernet port live when you do, and it’s not the obvious one. Port 4 is what you use to connect your mesh in, then you’re good to go.

Oh, thanks man. Maybe that's why the lights went to "overheat": wrong port. Maybe I should keep it as it is - I'm getting to use the ethernet cables for my NAS and TV still.

Fair play. I just wondered if there was a technical benefit (I guess "filling in any gaps" is a benefit in itself).

I've got three anyway! I also have a guest network because I like giving them pun names.

Surely it would disable it automatically in modem mode

EDIT - missed the point where we moved on, ignore.

Wouldn't I get doubt NAT from having the same details for both networks? At least this way, if every device is logged onto the mesh, they get their IP address from that and there's no conflict. I just have an unused wireless network.
