Toy Story 4: an enjoyable romp, though it needs more Bunny and Ducky and Duke Kaboom.

Quiet Place: decent enough horror film with Jack Ryan from the American version of the office. Very well done in places.

We still haven’t finished that and I don’t know if we’ll ever go back to it. Was too real world scary.

I think about it a lot.

I'm with Russ on this but that's because I thought it was a great film. We watched it again on Saturday night.

The coronavirus situation is difficult enough without a load of rampaging echo-locating monsters around the place, maybe you should consider moving somewhere else?

AKIRA coming to IMAX? I can’t imagine what this would be like on the giant screen but fuck me I want to find out.

Fucks sake Corona, fuck the fuck off already.

Arguably the greatest anime ever made.

I was happy enough with A Quiet Place, I'm glad there wasn't a whacky subversive ending and it flowed naturally to the credits. Pity about the sequel being postponed but capitalists gotta capitalist.

I've been meaning to watch that for quite a while. I'll bump it up a few places.

The condemned: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (19 wrestling championships) and Vinnie "The Don"Jones (1 FA cup) have a fight to the death on an island for the internet and it really was as poor as anything I have ever seen but way more honest about it all than the Japanese Battle Royale from a few years before. Watch this, rather than that.

I've been watching loads of fillums.

I think I'm only missing the Winter Soldier from the entire MCU now. The Incredible Hulk (Norton) was surprisingly very enjoyable. For some reason I'd discounted it. I guess because Norton refused to do another, I automatically thought it was trash. It's actually pretty good! Also has one of the few truly great MCU villains..

Thor 1 and 2 are the most painfully average MCU films. Loki in general is the high point of both films. Waititi is a genius to turn that into brilliant movie like Ragnarok.

Ant-Man: with Ant-man and the Wasp it's the most consistently good subseries in the MCU. I like the heist format, the supporting characters are great, and the powers are used in clever ways.

Other films: Doom: Annihilation is fun trash.

Godzilla (2014) and Godzilla:King of the Monsters. Weird watching them back to back, monster-movie-as-art-film Vs schlocky-dumb-action-film-with-kickass-monster-fights. I think I prefer the first, just.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2: Dumb humour that just resonates with me.

Planes: it's just Cars with wings. The animation has a weird feel. Like it's some Pixar knock-off, or it was supposed to be this big deal, they realised it wasn't very good, and cheaped out on most of the character animation. S'alright I suppose.

Monsters University: surprised how good this is. Goes out of its way to subvert expectations a little too much, but a solid story with some great characters.

Kick-Ass: I enjoyed it's self-awareness and how the slapstick humour contrasts with the lethal precision of Hit-Girl and the combat pragmatism of Big Daddy.

Kick-Ass 2: more of the same really. A bit sillier at times but still good.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: a bit too self aware for it's own good. Some good references in there though, and the action sequences are pretty good.

Here we go then. Marvel films in the MCU chronology according to a website I saw.

Captain America: the first avenger : this is pretty good. Not sure if he was normal size at the beginning then they made him huge half way though or if they shrank h then added water. Really enjoyed it.

Captain Marvel next.

Planes was originally planned to be a straight to DVD cash in on the back of Cars, and they were surprised at how good it was and released it to film. Planes 2 was therefore planned as the successful big budget movie sequel and should always have been straight to DVD.

What order does it do AntMan and Civil War?

I'm guessing he's watching them in Chronological order, so Ant-Man comes straight after Age of Ultron and before Civil War.

It’s interesting for those films that span different time periods, but I’d probably say to use the main time period of the movie (or watch it twice :p)

I thought it was just alright. Guy Pierce can’t recapture that Lock Stock magic though. Hugh Grant was great, mind.

I’m watching Terminator Dark Fate on the small screen. It’s even worse on second viewing.

When they meet Arnie Sarah instantly goes to shoot him but is stopped. She says “He’s a Terminator! Shoot in him the face and see what’s underneath.”

Danni says “No, I don’t care what he is.”

Erm, why the fuck not!? As far as she’s aware Terminators are bad up until this point. A Terminator killed her brother and father all but a day or two earlier. Her life has been completely fucked, a Terminator tried to kill her multiple times and tried to fly a drone into her and she’s on the run. Danni was never been told of the circumstances of T2 at all on the train. She’s only been told that a Terminator came to kill Sarah, Sarah killed it and another Terminator murdered her son.

The story is crap, the dialogue is crap, cliched and poorly acted...it’s just all a bit crap really.

Ant-Man ends during Civil War. And Thor and The Incredible Hulk are kind of going on simultaneously. And Captain Marvel starts in the Nineties and finishes during Endgame... I think you kind of have to go by the approximate start of the main narrative thread, otherwise you get silliness like Thor 2 starts with the defeat of the Dark Elves which is about the earliest thing shown chronologically in the entire MCU.

The only thing we really know about Ant-Man is that Falcon is around so it's after Cap2 and it ends after the second half of Civil War but before Infinity War, that's why it's the interesting one.

Hey that film The Hunt is getting some noise about it. I read two lines earlier on reddit and thought “Ooh, sounds like people enjoyed a film” so I watched it too without knowing a damn thing about it.

As it started the intro for fucking Blumhouse Productions popped up. I sighed very heavily and honestly thought about turning it off right there and then. Those fuckers do a bunch of shit ghost movies and torture porn crap. To be fair, they did bank roll Paranormal Activity and the first Purge was alright. They’ve got a few decent films in their repertoire but a lot of them are just fucking trash; I mean, come on, how many fucking Purge movies do we want. How many Paranormal Activity films too? Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension? Fucking fuck the right off. Did Blumhouse do that? No idea. Anyway this film...

It’s disposable nonsense that’s really a mix of The Hunger Games x Final Destination. But really it’s a silly version of that Seagall movie*. Frankly, I had a really good time with it. I thought it might be going all Hostel but it turns out it’s a bit daft and silly and despite all the deaths it keeps a light tone throughout.

It’s well worth just putting on one night when you don’t know what to watch but some internet person mentioned it once and you thought fuck it just shove something on. There’s loads wrong with it, because it’s just a film about nothing really (oh and CGI blood is FUCKING TERRIBLE. Someone gets killed with a .50 cal Barrett rifle at about 30 yards and there’s a really shit blood splat that just appears. Can we please stop CGI blood in films now? It’s FUCKING SHIT. Every. Fucking. Time), but I’d suggest you watch it so when the inevitable sequels come out you can say you liked the first one before it went commercial blah blah blah.

*Honestly can’t remember: Hard to Kill perhaps?

Blumhouse also did Get Out, BlacKKKlansman, Upgrade etc.

Don't get me wrong, they do a lot of shite, but plenty of great stuff too. I think The Hunt was aiming to be in that category. It fell somewhat short, but it wasn't entirely unenjoyable.

Yeah, the post credit scene is during Endgame, which is when Carol comes back to Earth.

Ant-Man's post credits scene is Falcon saying "I know a guy" during Civil War.

Now if we're discarding the post credits scenes and "setting scene" bits at the start of movies (which is the only sensible way to do it) then it probably doesn't overlap with Civil War.

You’ve only got to scroll through their filmography to see that “plenty of great stuff” is patently an over exaggeration.

I’m happy with “a few decent films.”

You beauty, that was driving me a bit mad last night.

Cor, and didn’t Van Damme have a good run of films with interesting concepts for the time at his prime? Seagall by comparison just did the same dogshit he’s still doing today.
