Yes, it's a very good one.

It’s arrived! Time to piss around with stuff.

Nice bit of kit this. It’s juuuust a wee bit small for a digital frame but for the cost you can’t complain plus, apparently, it does other stuff. It certainly has a nice screen for the clock.

If anyone didn't pick it up last time, Peggle 2 is £1.99 again in the Xbox store.

Amazon's Rent or Buy Advent Calendar deals might be worth keeping an eye on. It's an odd mix of offers though - at the moment most seasons of Big Bang Theory are £4.99 and Warcraft is £2.99 but there's also some godawful sounding Christmas films in there too like 'A Nanny For Christmas' starring Dean Cain and various 'dogs saving christmas' type guff.

If the 'highlights' of a deal are Big Bang Theory and the Warcraft movie then I'm not sure anyone needs to be keeping an eye on it.

“Nintendo” is having a “sale” which “starts” on “Thursday”.

Expect no good deals. I’m going to wait to see if I can get a quid off Donut County though.

The Epic Store has a £10 voucher you can grab "to use on eligible games of £14.99 or above". I'm not sure what counts as eligible but two of the games I'm interested in, which are already in sale, were eligible so that took the price from the original 25 down to 5; so bargains to be had I'd say. That was Close to the Sun btw. And they'll give you another one if you spend the first one so you could chain this if there's enough stuff you're interested in.

Oh, and they're doing 12 days of free games starting with Into The Breach today.

Was trying to figure out how to get the Epic Game Store "Spend £15 or more" coupon to work on a purchase of two games that come to a total of over £15 and realised that they still don't have a shopping cart.

Games that were over £15, but have been discounted as part of the sale, would actually be cheaper if they had not been included in the sale. Superliminal was £15.99, so would be £5.99 with the £10 off coupon, but it does not qualify for the discount because it's now £12.79.

Similarly, games like John Wick Hex, What The Golf?, Ghostbusters Remastered, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Manifold Garden, Yaga, Falcon Age, Kine, Cardpocalypse, Afterparty, The Sojourn, Readyset Heroes and more are *more* expensive because they've been discounted.

Afterparty *does* qualify for the coupon in the USA, but not in the UK. What on earth are Epic thinking.

Doesn't seem like it was something that was deliberate by any of these developers or publishers, and which games will qualify for the coupon will depend on regional pricing etc. Just seems like Epic not knowing how to organise a sale.

The correct way to do this kind of promotion would be to have it as a percentage discount when spending over "X" in local currency, and implement a shopping cart. Wouldn't require devs to navigate many different regional prices to tweak things for coupon eligibility.

Actually turns out it wasn’t. I did look on the first day of the sale and thought that the “deals” were just regular crap everyday “deals” but it turns out that this was the “special Christmas sale” where you’ll get “80% off” a game you’ve never heard of and don’t want. Best you’ll get is £11 for Mario vs Rabbids. People have enjoyed that game, so I’ve heard. I don’t want it, mind. I wanted that River City Girls which was down from £32 to £18 but it still seems a bit expensive for a side scrolling beat em up. You could get Mother Russia Bleeds for £3. Just sayin

A few of the Ninty games are down to just about £30 (£31-33-ish) on the eshop. Mario Kart, the tennis one, splatoon 2, Mario party and Yoshis Crafted World which absolutely no one ever talks about. It was crap, apparently.

That Dragons Quest XI is £33 and hasn’t been out long.

Tempted by Mario Aces but I’ll probably pass this time.

Splatoon 2 is well worth it. I’d be happy playing some multiplayer if anyone fancies it.

Some really odd discounts for some indie games on PS4 this afternoon

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/defunc ... us-3390340

Basically you can get Defunct / Real Farm / Shiny for a grand total of 58 pence

No idea if any of them are any good - metacritic doesnt have full ratings for them but

Defunct - one middling review
Shiny a few around the 60 mark (its 59 on PC)
Real farm - a clone of a better game 3 reviews at 30 / 40 / 50

Mega Movie Week has some decent stuff in it. It's on various platforms, but here's a link to Amazon's page on it.

Amazon are currently doing an official XBone controller plus the dongle required to make it wireless for the PC for £35 all in. Given that the controller alone is usually hovering around the £50 mark that seems like a good deal. Note though that it's not in stock right now so won't arrive until next month sometimes, but a good deal if you don't need a new pad right this second.

Note that this depends a little bit; the later revisions of the pad can use Bluetooth rather than the proprietary dongle, with some caveats (the latency is slightly worse, it can’t get firmware updates, and the headphone jack isn’t supported.)
