Tennis for two - its covered but there are a number before that - if you'd asked me before watching the video that would have been my answer as well

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
He ends up with a draughts game from 1952 made in Manchester and the author talked about his idea and setup with Alan Turing

I'd never heard of them before this - have subscribed and there are a lot of other videos that look interesting

For this one I clicked - saw it was an hour and thought 'I'll just watch the first few minutes' but stayed right to the end.

He always manages to make his old game footage look super crisp and modern, with the Quake one being stunning to look at in particular.

I liked the look of the Bubble Bobble My Arcade

But of course it's only one player and worse still, it's not even the arcade version of the game, but the NES.

It cant be long till you get the actual arcade one out - a lot of the 'my arcade' ones are the NES roms due to the size of the system and the price point they are going for

Ashens did a video on a lot of the larger 1/4 sized ones recently :

I've got the Pac-man quarter sized arcade machine in that range and it's lovely. Ms. Pac-man is out soon so I've ordered that too.

I also need to tell you all about the arcade machine I had for my birthday. I'll get some pictures together and post something soon.

Not cheap, but Amazon have the Street Fighter II 4ft cabinet in their Black Friday deals at the moment. £254.99 instead of £349.99.

Gaywood and I went to the Arcade Vaults in Cardiff yesterday.

They had a lot of old computers and consoles (and only one arcade cabinet), but it's a great little place.

Here is Gaywood playing California Games on the Lynx.

For those with Amazon Prime Video, they've added a documentary about the Nintendo Power Glove.

What a fascinating and well-written piece, I read all of it last night.

Thanks for posting the link zaphod :)

I remember owning an Atari 800XL, it was a hand-me-down from a cousin when he'd finished with it so it was a bit long in the tooth, but it had some good games for it (once you got past the APPALLINGLY SLOW loading times from tape), really impressive colour abilities compared to other 8-bit machines.

I agree. I've got an Atari 800XL and have recently set it up again. I've got one of those SD card readers on it and it's great.

There's a clever chap who's making the Prince of Persia for it and that looks really good.

An Atari 800XL was my second computer (after the ZX81) and yes the tape games loading times were terrible (Bounty Bob Strikes Back being the worst I can remember at around 15 minutes) but a very capable machine and when I eventually got a disk drive it was way way faster than the equivalent C64 with drive

I think Gauntlet had the longest loading times as far as I can remember. I remember the tape spools pretty much touching there was that much of it.

Gauntlet was a multiload so it loaded , then you had it load in levels in blocks of 4 or 8 (I was lucky that i had a disk drive for mine by that point so got the disk version instead)

I also had an Atari 800XL. I remember it being incredibly difficult to get games for in about 1988-89 when we got it. It was swapped for a Speccy 128 soon after. Much easier to get games for.

When Atari games were written to take advantage of the better hardware on the 800XL, they were seriously impressive. Pretty sure I played Stunt Car Racer on the Atari long before I got my Amiga.

Edit: Nah, couldn't have as it wasn't available. Must've been the Speccy version :D

FYI someone has ported it to the Atari recently - pretty sure Chinny did a video on it

There was a C64 version of it which was good - and yes the main problem with the Atari was finding games for it - relegated to the random edge of a shelf or hidden in the back somewhere when C64 / Spectrum / Amstrad was everywhere else

I'm quite proud of this. My eventual aim is to see the kill screen. I'm using save states so it's cheating technically but if I can knock off 10-20 screens like this in one go, I'll be there in no time.

The time that the ghosts turn blue reduces by each level. By level 19, the power pills stop working completely and each level runs the same speed right up to level 256 where the game breaks.

This is about level 70 in my video.

I think it’s 4 times for me, plus the original venue in Haslingden.
I was going to do the Leeds one but failed to fit it in over Christmas.
