Finally something has gone wrong with the Puma!

I think the battery might be fucked. Only £50 for a new one, though!

This weekend I shall be working on a group B legend.

It's going to be emotional.

Finally got the brake pads out of the C-Max. The inside one is barely touched whilst the outside is worn down to the metal

You're pushing on one side of the brake pedal, try and move your foot a bit more central.

It's a single piston which means there's 2 sliders that hold the piston body to the carrier, they look like bolts but have a little rubber boot/gator on them. They should slide in and out of the carrier freely, I expect one or both are seized in causing your uneven wear.

That's probably spot on as I had a right carry on getting the calipers off. How do I grease the carrier bolts?

I have reassembled the brake caliper and replaced the pads. First time I've ever done anything proper on a car. Feels good, man.

I find it's usually because one of the little boots has popped off and let water in. Was there a seized one? Did it free off ok?

They were both pretty tight but I've greased them up good. Need to do the other side when the daylight returns, then I can go for a test drive.

Cool sounds like you fixed it, they need to move with pretty much 0 resistance.

I'm alive! Here endeth the epic tale of DavPaz's grinding brakes.

It's been a journey, but I feel we've all learned something about ourselves.

And brakes

Driver's side seatbelt receiver on the Celica stopped receiving the seatbelt. Spent months waiting for a suitable replacement to pop up on eBay.

Whipped the seat out, replaced the receiver, and now can't get the seat back in because it won't move back far enough on the seat rail any more. Fucksocks.

I suppose now there's one fewer seat in there it's a bit roomier :P

More seriously though, the only thing I can see is that the sliding rail seems further forward on one side than it is on the other.

When I was moving the seat into the house I inadvertently activated the sliding mechanism and just under it's own weight and the pull of gravity, the seat slid way further forward than it should have been able to. We managed to get it back into some semblance of a normal position, but I wonder if that "unbalanced" the rails in some way.

Seems unlikely that they've been off-kilter since the seat was installed (it's not the original seat) but couldn't say for sure.

Either way, I think I'm going to have to detach the rail base from the rails and reattach them and see if that helps. Problem is, I haven't got a fucking clue what I'm doing so I'm likely to just end up making things worse.

Or just leave the seat as a free standing seat. What could go wrong?

My dads friend did this in his old van in the 70's and gave his mother in law a lift somewhere once.

After doing a hill start, he quickly realised that she was in the back of the van with her legs in the air.

I reckon my car's taking the piss. Headlight went out on the way home. Easy fix though. Thanks Ford! Still got nasty memories of dismantling the front bumper of MrsPaz's old Polo to get at the bulbs.

It's a mini SUV, so literally nothing.

Except!

The Puma was a little version of the Cougar, and the new Puma SUV is a little version of the Kuga (pronounced "Koo-gar") SUV.

Ford are shit with name these days.

They should go back to naming cars after UK jazz pamphlets.

Brands appear to be trying to confuse the hell out of people, particularly VAG and their "poor man" brand SUVs.

VW: Tiguan, Touareg, Troc
Skoda: Kodiaq, Karoq, Kamiq
