Shenmue 3 day

https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/shenmue-3 ... -progress/

Quote:
From a reviewer’s point of view, starting a massive game like Shenmue 3 just seven hours before the review embargo, and some eight hours after thousands of people started playing it via their Kickstarter backer status is far from ideal. Maybe it’s just a nice way to reward those who supported the game, because they really are playing it first. Or could the critical delay be because Shenmue 3 just isn’t any good? Well, after six straight hours’ play of the finished game on a retail PS4, I’m 90% convinced it actually is good. But if ever a game was the digital equivalent of ‘an acquired taste’ then it’s Shenmue. And boy, is this ever a Shenmue game.

https://www.vg247.com/2019/11/19/shenmue-3-review/

Quote:
Still, despite these annoyances, despite the fact that it’s a game designed with decades-old sensibilities, I can’t wait to play more. From where it’s gone so far, though, I’m worried it won’t be the satisfying conclusion we’ve been waiting two decades for. Part of the mythos of Shenmue is that we only needed one more game to see Ryo’s revenge story pay off. People funded this game because they were looking for closure, and I’m concerned that there won’t be any. Ryo, as always, is just too busy dicking about.

I have nothing to say about the whole Prince Andrew thing other than that I came up with the headline "Andrew duks off" on my commute and am very pleased with this.

How good a word does "Orrery" first seem like when playing hangman, and then how rubbish would it actually be?

Does it make you feel ornery?

Regarding our celestial friends, the most interesting science news story this year has been the various discussions about which planet is closest to the Earth. One of those simple questions that becomes more complicated the more you dissect it.

Do they define “planet” in this context? Surely it’s the moon, unless there are smaller bodies out there that are closer but not well known.

"when" is surely the defining criteria.

The moon is a satellite, not a planet.

And yeah, when is the important question. The answer:
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
If you take an average throughout all the orbits the answer is that Mercury is the closest planet to every other planet.

Despite having a further year's experience under my belt, the Cheshire Christmas Play (produced, "written" and directed by BigOne, ably assisted by BackUpKidney) has seen me demoted me from "Mary's Wife" to "Incidental Donkey". More lines, though .

We got a text from the nursery this week to say the nursery is doing it’s first ever Nativity and that Darwin is Joseph. I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen or been in a nativity, so I’m looking forwards to it.

I mean, I fully expect it to go wrong, but that’s the point, right? 38 nursery aged kids doing a play. Should be fine.

As I've got a bit of time on my hands before the end of my working day I found a link to Fesshole on Twitter, a place where people anonymously confess to stuff they've done. Some are funny, some are tragic, but this was the first one I came to that really made me giggle.

"I don't like my neighbour for reasons I won't go into here, so I have set up an old router in my attic which does nothing except broadcast the network name 'Steve-at-no-6-is-a-cunt' to the whole world"

The bloke who came to do the annual gas safety check yesterday was certainly a chatty fella. Once he walked past the various piles of consoles and bits, he was telling me all about the Nintendo Dreamcast he's got in the loft and 'what's that game where you move the joystick really quickly left and right to make the man run faster?' and later followed up with 'I never really got into games'... just in case I couldn't tell.

As it seems the attacker was originally from Stoke-on-Trent, the local paper's facebook feed has unsurprisingly lit up with comments

The glimmer of this brilliance shines brightly in an otherwise very dark chain of events. A narwhal horn and a fire extinguisher. They should be on some kind of medal of honour or coat of arms. Someone said the men should be knighted. TBH I think the whole New Years honours stuff is nonsense, but if they are going to do it then that’s the kind of act I’d like to see rewarded rather than services to horse racing, or an endless parade of blinking lollipop ladies.

It does make for a nice rejoinder to the "but the killer was out of prison! Known to the police!" idea that they should either never be let out, or encased in surveillance at all times.

The router is at one end of the house, and net connection is patchy at the other end. I bought a WiFi extender,do I need to log in all devices in to that at the non router end?

Does mesh mean all extenders are basically the same thing from the point of view of my phone?

Will admit, after twenty minutes discussing with BigOne how to remove the splinter in her finger, and her screaming and crying; I did smirk when OtherOne appeared, at her most helpful, brandishing the bright red two footlong hatchet. "We all feel like that, sweetie."
