Booooooooo! Now I know there's a twist, you inhuman bastard!

The twist is that there is no twist.

Very unusual, I know.

I actually have watched The Mandalorian episode 1 now. I liked that it was all daft muppet creatures and screen wipes. I liked the bounty droid thing. I had one of those when I was a kid donchaknow. It made me smile a couple of times. It looked nice and the cinematography was very good for a TV programme. And it had a brisk old pace too.

Now about that fucking twist.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
baby yoda

Is it really a twist since I can’t scroll more than finger swipe before another article I’d already seen saying “everyone is going crazy for baby [spoilerface]” but without the spoiler. Natch.

I swear to fucking Christ if you don’t watch all the programmes, go see all the fucking films and play all the sodding games the same day they’re released you’ll stumble across something on social media to spoil it for you these days. You can’t even leave it a bloody week to see/play the latest thing before some cunt will ruin something about it.

Anyway, it was a decent pilot episode, but god knows if the quality keeps up. I’ll keep watching though, cause I quite like Star Wars really. Did I ever tell you guys the story of when I lived next to Palitoy in Coalville...

I enjoyed episode 1 for what it was, episode 2 less so. "the internet" seems to think that episode 2 was great though, so what do I know. I just thought it was a bit insular and pointless.

I liked episode two, but yeah it really does feel like rather than finding it's own little corner of the galaxy to tell an intimate personal story, like I'd hoped, everything is going to tie back to those same films, and they're going to keep making nostalgia plays.

Episode 2 aka the filler episode.

It’s never a great start to a series when you’re padding out time in the second episode; especially when your episodes are only 30 minutes long.

The baby was cute AF though.

Maybe they’ll just continue to pander to the fan boys and every episode will be based around “Hey, remember X from Y film!” Plus it ages for the little fuckers to say “wootini”. But were great though, so I’m torn.

Mr Robot is fantastic.

I sit there all tightly wound and stressed out when I’m watching it.

It is. I just watched the episode in the snow and the woods (and am still a little WTF about the closing scene). But incredible TV. Nothing comes close to it, visually.

I didn't pick it up again after S01. Does it get better as it goes on?

Well, yeah,...but season 2 starts off slow for about 5 odd episodes but then it turns out that those episodes are really important, both in season 2 and now.

EDIT: mind you, in comparison to something like, say, Luke Cage they’re positively action packed.

More than any other show I can think of. S01 was mediocre, verging on sub-par. It was trying too hard to be edgy and the characters were largely fucking annoying.

Then it kind of grows up.

Characters with depth, more intricate plotting, immense cinematography, high-concept episodes.

The internet seems to be saying that episode 7 of Mr Robot is as good as and might be even better than Ozymandias. If there aren’t at the very least Emmys and shit handed out I’d be amazed.

Underrated comment. Mr Robot is a beautifully shot and lit show. It's right up there with Better Call Saul, which is better than late-season Breaking Bad, which is better than... well, just about everything else.

I do and I can appreciate a nicely colour graded slo-mo shot of a skidding car as much as anyone but not really in the same ball park in terms of creativity.

They pretty much invented "insignificant object in the foreground subject is in the background" shot.

But technically it's constantly superb. I mean, look at this shot: https://gfycat.com/neglectedemotionalal ... ear-vulcan

It's just lovely.

What defines a filler episode in a programme that's 4 episodes old? Episode 3 was the end of an arc, surely?

It was a bland side-quest. That’s filler. It’s been the weakest of all the episodes so far and now we’ve seen half the season I think we know what this series is going to be all about.

I would say that filler is content that can be removed without any damage to the overall story. Episode 4 developed Mando's character a fair bit.

Also, that was pretty bad. Young Seinfeld was awful, mission was clichèd rubbish, epic twist and yawn. That’s it for me, I ain’t watching anymore despite there only being 3 episodes left. It’s just not for me (despite loving the original trilogy Star Wars). I like my TV a bit more challenging than this. (And I quite enjoy the new films too. All of them, apart from Rogue One which didn’t do much for me. Yes, even Solo).

Yeah Mandolorian has been spinning it's wheels last couple of episodes.

I very much hope Watchmen gets a good final two episodes, because it's utterly fucking fantastic so far, and will go down as an all timer if it can stick the landing.

Not unless there was a time jump after episode 7.

wasn't in love with that one. Have never really been invested in Darlene and Dom's relationship. And it didn't feel like they fucked with the formula of the the run through the airport to justify its inclusion.

There was a LOT of chat over on the Mr Robot subReddit that the plane was going to crash (lots of foreshadowing etc) but nothing seemed to come of it.

It might still happen in the finale. We’ll see.

I’ve watched ep 11 today and it’s gone crazy nutzoid. I’m completely lost. Or maybe it’s lost the plot, who knows. One episode to stick the landing...
