Not sure what they were called in regions other than South London but "dealer boots" are the only ones I found comfy.

I've heard them called other names (pikey boots, gyppo boots etc) they're the ones with elasticated sides and no laces.

Are they still foot breakingly uncomfortable for the first few weeks of wearing? Last pair I owned I bought in the late 80s

Nope, very comfortable, straight out of the box. I bought my previous pair in Jan 2013 and I only needed to replace them now because the leather on top of the left shoe has finally split where it bends a bit when I’ve been kneeling down to get to kit under counters, etc.

I’ve worn them every day of the week that I’ve worked since I bought them, even when I was only running training courses, because they’re my work shoes. I found them a bit heavy to begin with, because I wasn’t used to wearing steels, but they were fine after a couple of weeks. I think 6 years and 4 months continuous use is pretty good for any pair of shoes, and not bad value for money. I paid around £50 in 2013, and the new ones were £79.99. I’m on call from 7am to 9pm this week, so I’ve worn them for at least 14 hours for the last 3 days, with no ‘breaking in’ issues at all.

And no, I am not in commission.

I've played that! I went to Whitby as a nipper (maybe 8 or 9 years old) and played the coin op. Stunned to discover it was available on't speccy, I saved my pennies and snapped it up. It was turd.

I went through almost exactly the same situation with S.T.U.N. Runner on the Amiga as well, except I had to join Special Reserve to be disappointed with that one.

I bought a few speccy games recently too, partly because it came with this

which was the same model I used to have first time around

Just need the time to set up the spectrum and see if it actually works.

Should've kept it and sold it to me, then. It would've saved me £22.

I've never really looked into the prices of tape games but that's surprising.

Is that the most you've paid for one or are there others?

The 90's released Hit Squads carry quite a weight. Unfortunately for me.

He's good fun, except when he craps on the carpet, but you could say that about lots of people.

And he naturally fetches stuff we throw for him. Our last dog never mastered that, and he lived to about 15.

Aww. My brother has one called George. He's an old boy now but lovely dog. He suffers with his ears though but Charlie (younger dog) cleans them for him. So adorable :)

I was chucking his toys around for him to chase last night, and he had a freaky do and raced round and round the coffee table. He's very entertaining.

He hasn't grasped the concept of 'upstairs' yet. When Mrs. W goes up, he doesn't seem to be able to work out where she's gone, even though he's in the hall at the time.

Olly, dans le jardin.

He's not really allowed out yet, so he didn't touch the ground, Mrs. W carried him to the table.

When you write that do you think ‘Z’ sounds like Zee, or Zed? I read it as ‘Zee’, though I don’t know why as I’d never say Zee when reciting the alphabet.

I'm the same as Mimi - i read it as Zee when its listed above although if you asked me what that letter was I'd say it was Zed (and when i say it the alphabet ends in Ex Why Zed)
