Weirdly for these Presentations all the games look really good. Is that Devolver Bootleg an actual game though, cause it looks great!

That Fall Guys game was quite clearly Takeshi’s Castle, an’ all, which sounds like a brilliant idea for a video game!

I can confidently say that there's been recent muck spreading in the vicinity of Burton in Kendal M6 services.

Today I learnt that paying a £1.25 reservation fee with a £10 note at a self-service machine in the library results in a satisfying stream of clanking sounds as it dispenses change, delighting both me and other library users.

I was walking up some steps last night and walked past a lady with her two daughters, the daughters were perhaps 3 or 4 years old and one was shoving the other a bit. The lady says to one of the girls "We don't push near steps, Violet, remember what happened in Thailand" 8)

Thinking of extinction, I realised last night that I could ask Alexa if celebrities were still alive and she'd either confirm their continued existence or say when (and sometimes how) they died. I'm not sure if I should be concerned by this.

I work for an Alexa-adjacent company, and we've been doing a lot of work recently supplying them with the dates and causes of celebrity's deaths. It's apparently one of the most popular questions asked.

Just seen someone who is 75 next year proudly announce to Facebook that they are boycotting the BBC today AND the 21st because they’re withdrawing blanket free licences for the 75+ and people who have worked all their lives DESERVE THEM. He’s encouraging others to do what he is doing today and will be sitting to watch quality TV on Sky, and showing the BBC by only watching their competitors today.

I cannot head-desk enough.

This guy lives in South Ken and owns a yacht.

A yacht!

It’s a small yacht. But IT’S A YACHT.

Naturally, being in my bedroom, it's kept permanently on mute, else I'd probably end up asking it to buy a 1 ton gold elephant in my sleep. Or that £60 dog piss post that it seems intent on trying to sell to me.

It was an act of supreme cynicism from the government to pass both the costs of the benefit and the public anger at removing it straight onto the BBC.

Google Home recently got the ability, if you have smart bulbs in your bedroom, to gradually fade them up to maximum brightness over 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. This is a very good feature. I rarely need the alarm now, instead I get a much more gentle wake up from the light.

Yeah, I have Alexa turn on the lights, if I'm still asleep 5 minutes later, it starts Spotify. If that doesn't wake me, I get a loud blaring alarm 10 minutes later.

I didn't. But I'd still rather not have an active mic in my bedroom.
I'd also like to know why amazon think I want a dog pissing post.

We achieve the same effect by investing in really bad blinds, which means my bedroom is flooded with daylight well before my alarm goes off.

What don’t you trust??

The Echo Dot.

:this: and any other IoT device wot listens to you.

And that's because the IoT will pwn you, sooner or later.

/Rant mode ON!

Every bastard week there's some revelation about unscrupulous companies gathering people's data and flogging it off to anyone willing to pay and quinciquontly I don't trust ANY of them, until they are proved to be safe and secure, and that's likely to be when hell freezes over.

I'm already overweight so if I don't even have to get off my chaise lounge to turn the lights on or off, eventually I'll be like Jabba The Hutt.

When the time comes that you can ONLY buy smart TV's I might go and live in a cave.

I haven't yet made up my mind about what I'll do when I have to buy an adult pass to be able to browse the interwebs.

Amazon and Google do not record all our conversations. The amount of storage needed would be prohibitive.

Hence you need the ‘hey google’ bit to wake it up.

Sure. But you can't take it on anything other than trust that they don't record the five minutes following the word 'bomb' or similar.

Or just transcribe it all and keep it. Storing it is pretty easy if you can transcribe it. But then you've got to analyse it.

Politics In this era has transcended anyone caring about truth or accuracy. Look at Trump, who can tell ten lies a minute. Ten plain, clear, obvious to everyone lies. 60% of people shrug it off as unimportant that he’s lying, the ones that realise it and dislike it just can’t keep up. By the time one once-shocking thing has been said, twenty more have followed. The thing is you are bombarded by so many outrageous lies and actions that you can’t focus. And our government have just gone ‘Yes! That’s the best way to be evil and unaccountable’ so we are ushering in his British protege and then we’ll have Boris and Trump, two of the most evil leaders showing a buffoons face to get away with it. It literally will not matter one bit what they do. Remember all the WTF people used to feel o we some of Putin’s ridiculous claims about his virility, etc? We have exactly that with Trump, and his intelligence, which is more ridiculous.

Gosh, I get so worked up thinking about this I can’t even keep track of what I was going to say.

Yes, so it doesn’t matter that this is the government that have pushed the situation to this. They can say ‘look what the BBC are doing’ and then everyone just plays merrily along.

The idea of all those that might miss out on their free TV licences turning over for two days to a paid-for competitor, though. Boof. Mind blown.

Sorry, that’s sobpoorly written. I’m just so incredibly angry and upset at a loss of stuff to do with the world right now.

The amount of searching I had to do earlier to try and find a news source that had any in depth writing on what’s happening in Sudan was unreal.

And gosh the voices moaning about the licences that have not raised voices for anything important. The same ones that also call for ‘BREXIT. NOW!’

I only followed my uncle because he wanted to show me pictures of a donkey he’d adopted. Then there’s some of Russell’s family posting exactly the same (Brexit! TV LICENCE... VETERANS!) so, ugh. Blocked my uncle again (I hadn’t spoken to him in ten years before then, so that doesn’t matter).

OMG Mimi, stop rantwaffling.

I’m sure your right, but conversations are not the same thing as data. Who’s to say that they couldn’t record conversations after detecting key words, and then process that to add it to their big data library, for whatever purposes suits them? We are required to take on trust that the data won’t be used improperly, whatever THAT is, but it’s been shown repeatedly that data does end up in places the originator would prefer it not to be.

So, I may sound like one of the tin foil hat brigade, but I prefer to err on the side of caution until I’m satisfied that it’s safe to drop my guard. And even so, I’m sure that a lot of data originating from me has made its way into places I know nothing about.

Hence you need the ‘hey google’ bit to wake it up.

An American guy at work spent 30 minutes telling me how American sport economics works, and was talking loads about the NBA. My phone is on the table.

That evening I start getting ads about the NBA. I have never googled anything about basketball or even typed in the letters "NBA" until just now.

This stuff happens too often for it to be coincidence.

Was browsing some games the other day and saw South Park: The Fractured But Whole on sale.

I've been aware of this game since release, but not really given it much consideration because it doesn't look like my cup of tea. But for some reason I decided to stop and consider the slightly ungainly title in more detail. I'd previously considered it to be an affectedly enigmatic title. And then it suddenly made sense. Feels like it took far too long for that pureile gag to drop for me.

Sorry, that’s sobpoorly written. I’m just so incredibly angry and upset at a loss of stuff to do with the world right now.

Nah, the post was fine Mimi and you're right to be angry and upset at the state of the country and world right now.

Sadly, I think these attitudes and willingness to spread rumours or not pause for a moment's thought have been around for as long as the pub bore has, but it's far more visible these days. I just think that anyone who can't see that Mr Johnson or Mr Trump are utter charlatans by now are far beyond hope and it's hard to find a way to explain why them hardening their attitudes..

Is my nurse ready to take me to my rubber room yet?

The David Duchovny crossover the fans have been crying out for. An endless warehouse stacked with boxes crammed with nodders.

alternatively, advertisers target other devices that have been in the same locations at the same time recently on the off chance a chat had sparked an interest.

All of these things are possible, I guess.
