'90s vibe? (Although Gangsters Paradise was releasd in '95. The year the PlayStation was released, which was the console that basically murdered Sega.)

As to the rest of the trailer... I dunno. Could be okay. Could be absolute shite. Sonic is juat... I dunno. It's gone a bit wrong. I think it's the first time I've had an "uncanny valley" reaction to a non-human character before. I didn't think it was possible!

I see that Amazon Prime are adding more quality films again. Today's example is Robo Vampire

The film artwork seems to differ slightly from what you get in the actual film ...

MaliA's robot outfit looks like it had more effort put into it than Robo Vampire's.

An American Crime. Hard to watch. Very sad :(

Then it suggested Hard Candy. I read about it before but decided I couldn't watch. That was before meds and I'm far less squeamish now. Funny that, how they change you. Any way I don't know who was sweating more, me, or the guy whose balls she was removing. Holy crap I'm amazed I made it to the end. I thought I was going to pass out.

He was pretty good in Baywatch (it was v.funny on the first viewing, but doesn't really bear watching again) and I also enjoyed him in the Greatest Showman.

A rare post in this thread for me. Long flight. On the flight, I saw 4 films.

Oceans 8
This was bad. Never felt like there was any risk.

Fat Buddies (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt8845432/) This is, hands down, the worst film I've ever seen. Avoid.

You are the apple of my eye.
Quite miserable. So I need something cheery, so somehow I ended up with...

The house where the mermaid sleeps
Which starts of with a child drowning and ending up brain dead. Which sets the tone.
This was NOT cheery.

Overall: I chose badly.

I also saw Detective Pikachu today. It was decent enough, though not as funny as the trailer makes out. The main part of the city that features throughout the movie and at the climax is my old work building (Lloyd’s) and the buildings next door. Which made it feel so weird.

I have watched Hereditary, and agree with my fellow Beexers that it's very good.

I'm in the "crappy ending" camp, however. It just didn't need all that.

I seem to be the only person on here who didn't enjoy Hereditary. It had some stuff going for it - great acting and cinematography; but while the slow shots worked really well in certain places, in others it just made things dull. However, I just didn't enjoy the story. I do see why others might like it though - the IMDB reviews seem heavily split into rave reviews and others wondering what all the fuss was about.

But that's literally the whole point of it, that's the entire plan, every single thing had been meticulously mapped out and the family were basically fucked right from the start.

It was always about the BIG BANG ENDING, that was the point of everything that happened.

It's bleak as fuck and I loved it for that.

Yeah, the only bits I thought were off were the slapstick fall out of the window but mostly the stupid, stupid bit after the end explaining everything that happened in precise detail instead of just leaving it so you think you knew what had gone on and why but leaving some stuff for you to piece together afterwards or if you missed some of it then your imagination can fill in the gaps.

On the pulse, I just watched Pacific Rim.

Very enjoyable in spite of some of the shonkiest dialogue I've ever been forced to listen to.

Looked marvelous.

Lots of British actors doing bad American accents.

But why so many nosebleeds? Everyone's having nosebleeds like it's a thing. Nosebleeds everywhere. Probably the highest nosebleed quotient of any film I've ever seen.

I used to get nosebleeds all the time, like about 10 of them a year. If it was too hot or too cold, it would start bleeding. Since moving to Devon (19 years ago) I don't think I've had 10 in total. I've only just this minute realised this is probably pollution related.

I’m not saying John Wick 3 is the best film ever made or anything like that but it’s my favourite film of the year so far.

It’s got everything: dogs, horses, pistols, rifles, sub machine guns, knives, swords, Halle Berry, that guy from The Raid, no, the other one, no, the fluorescent light neck guy, Ninja, motorbikes and that’s about it. Because you don’t need anything else to make a great action flick.

It’s comic book violence of course and there’s some rubbish stuff, like, the story and when people are talking and when people aren’t killing each other but outside that crap it’s fucking glorious.

10/10
