So apparently if you download then demo for Hitman 2 you can then import the levels from the previous game into it and play them all with the new engine and updated visuals. I haven't tried it myself yet but there's loads of chat about being able to do it online. Apparently they made the levels of the first game available for the second game as Legacy pack which is free to people who own the first game which is why this works.

I've just got round to doing this and thought I'd spell out the process to save anyone else doing the googling I had to. First step is to install Hitman 1 and the free Hitman 2 demo thing. You then, weirdly, need to go into the store section of Hitman 1 and download the legacy pack from there; each individual level is then made available within Hitman 2.

Next month you get:

The Surge! Yay - it’s really really good. Dark Souls with robots and men in robot suits and giant dustbins trying to squash you.
Conan Exiles! No idea. Looks like some RPG base building thing from the trailer.

I quite liked The Surge but hit a boss that I could not get past and gave up on it - I may retry it

Conan Exiles looks like a cross between a hack and slash, a base builder and a survival game. It has co-op. It looks okay.

The Surge! I've almost bought that several times, but then thought "It's bound to show up on PS+ eventually!"

That’s reet early on. I thought that was a good fight that was on the right side of the difficultly curve: as soon as you learn it’s moves and know when to move/block and when to attack it’s just a case of executing it. He mashed me up several times and then suddenly I’d killed him with nary a scratch.

I did wonder if i was slightly underpowered going into the fight and thought i did not then want to go back round grinding for stuff - and as typical in a 'souls' type game i had a good run with a lot of stuff - died - then died before i retrieved my dropped items so just moved onto something else.

I'm not sure if it particularly affected me emotionally, but I loved that it was one those games that told a story in a way that literally would not work in any other medium.

Did people know about this:

https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/explo ... s-rewards/

It's like a set of changing voucher codes for third parties that come as part of your sub. Currently it's a free week's Sky Sports pass; 10% off a Pure Gym membership and a 20% discount at the Adidas online store. I never knew this was a thing.

I fucking hate Sonic games. I’ve never once had that feeling of flying through a level bouncing and spinning and just blasting anyway. 9/10 times I’ll run run run and fall into a hole or hit some spikes or some shit. I like the music though.

It got a little ‘lock’ on the sonic game and can’t play it after downloading. Any idea what that is?

Gah! Sony just ganked me for £49.99 on a renewal for this. My own fault as I got the email reminder a couple of days ago and meant to cancel, but forgot about it like a twat. I can't even remember the last time I turned the PS4 Pro on.

Oh well, hopefully a handful of decent PS Plus games will turn up over the next year.....

Sony are a bit sneaky, I got the email about 36 hours, maybe 48 hours before the renewal was due, but XBox warned me a week in advance for their Gold thingy or whatever it's called now.

I let the XBox one renew as I do use the XB1X quite a lot, but the PS4 Pro is basically dead air for me now, and I did mean to cancel, but I've got an extra year now so I'll just hoover up any PS Plus games I like the look of.

Mind you, that said I'm currently playing Space Harrier in MAME on the media centre PC, consoles and modern games be damned.

In fairness to them, you can turn off the auto renew at any time. I don't have it enabled at the moment as I'd rather look for cheap deal when the time comes than pay that full price by default.

Oh for sure it's totally my own lazy fault, you know one of those things about which you think 'Yeah I'll get that done', and then you don't, and then you get STABBED IN THE GROIN for £49.99? I'll wise up before next year's renewal. Probably.

Set a calendar entry now. Like right this minute. I have one for about a month before the renewal date so I can look for deals.

Well, both. I don't want it to auto renew but I also don't want to be suddenly locked out of a game I'm playing. The calendar entry is to warn me to look for the cheapest renewal option in plenty of time to not let the sub lapse. Granted, Hearthly might just not want to renew at all but, let's face it, there's absolutely no predicting the waxing and waning of his various desires and opinions; certainly not like a year out.

I really liked it, although the commentary is pretty poor - it sometimes repeats phrases even during the same match.

An earlier version of PES has been on PS+ before, I think.

I couldn't give the slightest fuck about either of those, but given that I'll likely be playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey for the next year of my life that's probably for the best.

Again: if you have no desire to play PS4 games online, I don't think a PS+ sub is ever going to make much sense. It's not a games subscription service. It's an online play service. The games are the icing on the cake. If you don't like the cake, it's not a surprise you think the icing is poor value.

It used to be that the biggest draw for me was a steady supply of fantastic games that I'd missed out on previously and the multiplayer aspect was the icing, but thanks for explaining why I'm wrong.

I have no desire to play games online but happily pay my PS+ sub because it's generally more than worth the money over the course of a year and I like the excitement of the reveal of the next set of games. It turns out people do things for different reasons. Who knew?

Also, if you're starting a sentence with "Again:" then chances are the person you're taking to didn't agree with you the first time and repeating yourself isn't somehow going to magically change that.

I have no interest in playing online but I'm locked in because there a bunch of games I love in my library that I'd lose access to if I cancelled. I a suspext it isn't great value for me but I'm in it for the longhaul now.

Bear in mind that if you were to drop the sub then resub you'd regain access to everything you previously had.
