If your measuring the width of the South of England, then Ramsgate is a better destination than Margate and you should probably start at Lands End!

According to http://got.nebulagames.net/, it's 2545 miles.

Edit: Conveniently equidistant to London > Baghdad (as the Crow flies)

Even better distance related fact - in the time it takes to listen to The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be, the ISS would travel almost precisely 1,000 miles.

That's me!

And as a birthday present for myself I'm going to avoid all news for a week and eat this box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts here while reading Cadfael for the first time. Later, fine wine and Robocop.

POTENTIALLY UNPOPULAR DECISION

The best donuts are ones warm and slightly crispy from the fryer and are almost always only found at fairgrounds and the like. For me, no shop-bought glazed donut comes close to that pinnacle of excellence. I still like 'em, but the warm ones are really special.

That doesn't in any way go contrary to my statement though.

I agree with the Doc... The best doughnuts I've had in recent years were at Lands End. A bit of a way to travel I admit, but they were nice.

It may have had something to do with the ace holiday I was on at the time though.

Ordered by best.

1. Fairground doughnuts, warm, fresh from fryer
2. Dunstable doughnuts, warm, sold by the baker's dozen. from the local shop in the high street when I was growing up.
3. KK, Original glazed, 20 seconds in the microwave. (if you haven't tried this, you are a fool)
4. KK, Original glazed, stuffed in my rathole while cold.
5. All other doughnuts.

I’ve got to agree that warm doughnuts fresh out of the ‘cooking device that they’re made’ are the tits. The folks at the seaside always put too much sugar on though. And now I want some, gah.

The ones best I've had were the freshly made, still hot off the conveyor KK donuts from the drive in shop outside the Trafford Centre.

There's only something like half a dozen of Krispy Kreme factory shops like that. We used to live 15 minutes from one.

I watched that the other day. It's very well done, and the BBC version is still the definitive one.

I only started watching Octavius's stuff last year - she's one of the best non-Beex-alumni retrogamers on Youtube. And the long-running characterisation of Horace as a sexpest cracks me up every time.

Same - before Digitiser i'd never heard of her

Kern wrote:

Retrogaming wise you obviously have Chinny https://www.youtube.com/user/chinnyhill10

but there are are not that many others

Girgerpunk - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH9fky ... VFeEvcTxdg mainly C64 stuff
Larry Bundy Jr (I'd at least followed him before Digitiser) - https://www.youtube.com/user/LarryBundyJr
And of course Ashens for lots more than just retro bits - https://www.youtube.com/user/ashens

The Retro Future https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCefAbz ... r4Q/videos does reviews of a lot of those new handhelds and does teardowns / repairs on hardware etc

Thanks. Will give Giger and Retrofuture a go as I hadn't come across them.

I enjoy LGR, but then he's been around for a very long time now. Of course, I'm sucker for a southern accent too.
