Watched the Bruce Willis version of Death Wish. Okay if you want to watch something easy and predictable but not horribly put together.

I watched Ocean's 8, it was a film, that's as much as can be said about it.

I also watched Curfew on sky, which I thought was a film but turned out to be the first of a series. It should have been utter shit, but I found it weirdly engaging, for reasons that can't fathom.

Main issue with Ocean's 8 was that at no point did I think there was ever any risk that their plan might fail.

AMORES PERROS - Quite gruelling but very good.

THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS - Sexy Kathleen Turner and very funny, haven't seen this film for 20+ years I reckon, still a great watch.

QUICK REVIEWS END.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
there was also the gaping plot hole of not doing the switch in the toilet and getting the pickpocket to put the fake back on her neck, or say hey you dropped this. For the majority of the film you are thinking WTF, and it's only right at the end with the deus ex reveal that you know why they didnt do that, but by then it's too late to redeem it.

Yeah. Marvel and Sony should cut a deal and let Lord and Miller do a Marvel Animated Universe for Sony.

It’s difficult to criticise any of Spider-Man into the Spiderverse. I’m not a fan of superheroes but that was just great stuff. The animation was great, excellently edited, music was spot on, the script was, in the main, superb. The only thing I didn’t care for was Peter Porker.

The end credits were great too. And I had to google which character Nicolas Cage played!

Loved it. 9/10

Did I mention I’d watched Bird Box an’ all?

It was less A Quiet Place and more The Happening. I know loads of people cannot stand The Happening but, personally, I could still sit through it today. Bird Box was good too. Sandy B is a fucking powerhouse.

Rampage was brilliant fun even if some of the sciency bits were so terribly misrepresented. Well worth a watch.

Lady T wasn't overly thrilled when I suggested the big reptile monster reminded me of our 4 year old daughter when she wakes up all angry and stamps around the house shouting.

Spiderman won the Oscar, which shouldn't be a surprise if you have seen the film, but is a bit of a surprise if you know what the Oscars typically reward.

Black panther won best original score, for a reason that is beyond understanding, however it did also win best production design and best costumes, which seems valid.

Olivia Coleman winning best actress is just lovely, well done her.

Bohemian Rhapsody was the best, most moving film I've seen in a long long time, it was fabulous.

Sometimes I forget how excellent Queen could be.

Annihilation

Looked amazing in 4k Dolby Vision-o-thon Ultra 10011!!!1.
No idea what it was about though, I would have given up halfway through I expect, if I wasn't still in the new TV honeymoon period.

Say what you will, but some of that CGI just looks poor to me. And the jokes aren’t hitting the mark either. Hmmm.

The Hummingbird Project: cousins Jesse Eisenberg and Alexander Skarsgård--abetted by Vaas from Far Cry 3--attempt to design and build a massive and ambitious fibre optic line directly connecting two US exchanges in order to get rich doing high-frequency trading; a world where milliseconds mean the difference between being rich and going bankrupt. All this while being monstered by their vindictive ex-boss Salma Hayek. I kind of assumed it was going to be more of a comedy of errors with things fucking up and being manically worked around by the pair, but it quickly becomes a lot more character driven with Jesse Eisenberg's hustling Vince getting the majority of the attention for reasons that come clear about halfway through. Indeed the initially breezy and aggressive tone of the film gradually drops throughout the runtime and it ends very differently to how it starts. This change isn't necessarily smoothly executed and it feels like the point the film's trying to make about greed is lost in the shuffle, but ultimately it's well enough written and acted that I doubt many people wouldn't thoroughly enjoy it for what it is.

It's an incredible film, very much benefits from a second watch once you understand what it's about.

Loads of great videos and articles about it if you have a look around.

Yup it really moved me. I guess sometimes we don't realise what we've got until it's gone.

I'll definitely be watching it again.

A star is born: great, but a bit slow in the middle, Cooper's mumbled accent was tricky to understand at times though.

La la land: this didn't do anything to quell my love for Emma Stone. Delightful performance, well worthy of the Oscar. Was expecting the film to be a cliché of old Hollywood musicals, but it was a wonderful homage instead, instantly into the list as one of my favourite films of the past couples of years.

I watched a film and I liked it, shame it wasn’t Aliens or John Wick, I watched Alita just to try it, I certainly didn’t mind it, It felt so wrong, It felt so right, I watched it in IMAX 3D the other night, I watched a film and I liked it, I liked it.

That movie has the laziest, cheapest looking poster I've seen in a long time.

EDIT: I can't find an example, annoyingly. It's the blue one on the side of busses.

£150 for an advert on the side of a london bus, for a month (or it might have been a week).

That has to be worth it, i'll dig out the sink pic.

All is True: a pic about Shakespeare's later years, and his family relationships. It is pleasant. And that's about it. I would quip "All is Dull", but I think it has been done. It's period porn, with a few references crowbarred in for Shakespeare fans, and a couple of nicely-delivered poems.

Aquaman is just ... horrible. It looks like garbage, the story is a load of old bollocks, the script is laughable, and, did I mention it looks like a load of old spunky socks? Y’know, it’s just utterly forgettable. I won’t remember any of it tomorrow. I could not give two shits about this film’s existence at all.

Bad Times at the El Royale is a brilliant film. A Tarantino-esq film in lots of ways with some good castings including Jeff Bridges, who I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for.

I’d be raving about this this except for the casting of that fucking Chris Hemwick cunt. Whoever cast him was wrong. Absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong. He was utterly and absolutely the wrong choice for the affable psychopath. Honestly, it really needed Vas from Far Cry 3 for this role.

It goes on a bit too long (2 hrs 22 mins) but most Tarantino films do a bit anyway. But unlike Tarantino‘s output the final act didn’t have that crunchy payoff thanks, for the most part, due to Chris fucking Hemworth doing a variant of the same character from Ghostbusters. Fucking Chris Hemsworth.

The music was great though. Chris fucking Hemworth trying to do a sexy dance that’s supposed to be creepy and sinister was not.

Well worth a watch - shame about the final act. Thanks Chris Hemsworth. That fucking guy.

If you think Hemsworth was acting the same way he did in Ghostbusters I can only surmise that you've either not seen Ghostbusters or you actually watched Ghostbusters twice.
