I think you may well have the wrong Area 51 ALX. The R2 (AKA Triad) is around 35kg. I am referring to the Area 51 ALX (2009) which has a shipping weight of over a hundred pounds, and an average weight of 84lbs with a regular ATX board and one GPU in.

http://www.notebookreview.com/desktopre ... lx-review/

So that translates to 38kg. Then add in all of the water cooling (there's 1.5kg in rads, a large steel support structure I added and etc) and yeah, I reckon it's up near 60.

I'll tell you how I knew that, too. When I bought it I built it at the house I shared with my ex wife in Dorset, and I threw it on her 50kg postal scales and got ERR. It was too heavy.

The Platimax PSU I put in there weighs at least half more than the crappy one I took out, too. Not forgetting the screen and god knows what else I managed to stuff in there while I was at it (vertical GPU riser etc).

I seriously wish I was joking, because this thing is damn near impossible to lift. The newer Area 51? has at least 1/3 of the size lopped off of each end at 60' and is not like an old Dell. It's like a tank.

It is. Dunno why I never noticed before.
That is odd, pretty sure they had someone standing on a rooftop shouting that it was ready.

That’s right, and she was drop dead gorgeous.

Typical bloke.

As I got an unexpected Christmas bonus, as well as putting some of it away for boring stuff, I thought I'd treat myself to a new tablet. I didn't want to spend too much and I wanted something running Windows, so I went for the 4GB version of this one at £160. Only had it an hour or so, so hard to say how good it is, but it's a new gadget to tinker with.

How does a chair mat differ from a rug?

It's polycarbonate dude, so like a riot shield.

I've worn holes in two carpets with my chair now.

But yeah it comes in one very large sheet and it's rock hard with spikes on the underside.

That sounds like the one I bought recently. In hindsight, I should have bought one years ago as the carpet isn't looking great around my computer desk.

Yup that's him. I wore a hole in the carpet at mum's and replaced the carpet with Berber, which has held up well. The carpet in the dump I live in now is waffer thin and ready to go tbh.

The new place is new. Like the whole building. And the guy who built them took pride, so I have granite work tops and new carpet all round.

New flat, new start, and what I want this time. I've spent half of my years on earth now living with women and giving them what they wanted. Now it's time for me.

Waitrose Duchy organic corn is lovely. I've got a bit of a taste for Ginger Pepsi lately. Probably because it's winter.

I have bought this. It's an Odroid-Go.

Basically a handheld console that you put together yourself. It'll eventually play Gameboy, Gamegear, Master System and NES games.

I have one - it will also play Colecovision and I think it can do Speccy (but i've not loaded up the files for that yet).

Nice screen, nice battery life, and good controls from what i've played so far - having the volume as 4 settings (off / low / med / high) is probably my biggest complaint

New arm pads for my chair. The gel ones on there had started to split after three years of relentless use.

Image

I glued them down so they won't slip. I also bought a pot of hammerite and some panel pins to convert a damp stained old frame into this.

Image

Dead chuffed with that. Will go great in my kitchen. Talking of which, I started getting stuff for that too (the kitchen)

Image

Knife block for my Victorinox knives.

I done bought a bundle. The Colossus Bundle from Fanatical. Technically I should have provided each game in the bundle as its own screenshot but, always a flouter of rules, I have screenshot all of them into one, hard-to-read image. Which is probably on its side. Green boxes indicate the games I could actually give a monkeys about.

That Epistory looks interesting, so I've just bought that bundle too.

I bought a gravel hoover. Pretty sure you could use it to administer enemas.

Is this to remove gravel from your house or to remove dust from gravel?

I purchased Sucky Carl, a Roomba (but not an actual Roomba).

He does a good job, especially now I've stopped him from vacuuming at midnight.

I also got a new sofa. Keeping in the tradition of posting pictures about shit no-one cares about to the extent that it makes me want to set fire to the fucking server that hosts all this, here are is Craster testing the corner seat:
