My MP spoke in the debate yesterday. I don't think I'll be able to tolerate reading what she had to say until after Friday beers. Based on our correspondence, I don't think it's going to be particularly enlightening or likely to resonate in the Commons for decades to come.

As the PM is in the area today, hoping for a good reception from the large Brexit-supporting folk, I thought I'd brave the Facebook post on it.. not too bad so far, thankfully

I can’t decide if I want to watch the final vote live tomorrow or just wait for the highlights afterwards. In the past I’d have been getting snacks in and everything, but somehow the magic’s gone. Thanks for ruining politics for me, Brexit.

And yet some people are of the view "thanks for ruining Brexit for me, politics"

Truly these are confusing times for an average man like me.

What time is the vote, I'm down the pub tomorrow night, I'll see if they will put it on the telly so we can all get excited and shout at the screen.

Given I've called the last few major political events wrong, I'm going to look into the steam from my tea and declare that the result tonight will be AYES 230; NOES 360. 22 Labour MPs will vote with the government, and a similar amount will abstain. Jeremy Corbyn will fail to rise to the occasion, and the Prime Minister will take this as a win and press on regardless.

There's not a decent leader among the lot of them.

Why is Vampira wasting her time talking to factory workers about what a good deal we'll be getting? Maybe if she says it often enough she'll start to believe her own bullshit.

Course, I can't see many Tories following Corbyn into the lobby, and so long as the DUP get their bung it won't go anywhere and we'll be back where we started.

But then, see my earlier comments on my political punditry.

I thought her final speech before the vote was rather better than I’d seen her, to my surprise. And as a sanity check, Ian Dunt agrees with me.

Y'know I've been thinking about this new car thing and I've decided to sit on it for a while, and the honest reason is waiting to see how Brexit pans out.

I know everyone says 'NO DEAL WILL NOT HAPPEN' but looking at the utter fucking cretins in charge, and the witlessly incompetent opposition, I do wonder if we'll manage to simply blunder into it as a nation, and then all of a sudden petrol costs £2 per litre and food prices go up by 25% (or whatever) and generally everything goes a bit to shit, and then I'd be like, 'You know what, having a chunk of cash in the bank to help weather this out would be pretty useful right now'.

There are so many villains in this whole Brexit piece (and I'm afraid Corbyn makes the list) it's easier to list people who aren't culpable rather than those who are, so I'm tempted to just say 'Fuck everyone', or as Jnr put it when I got in from work last night (she was getting cross about something not working as she wanted in Minecraft):

(Exact word-for-word transcript.)

'Good evening Becca, how are you today?'

'DAMN EVERYTHING!'

I couldn't be bothered to watch the speeches live, by the way. Had the TV on silent during the division just in case but they kindly waited until the end of the 'Archers' before annoucing the result. Really should have done a prophesy post for this, to reclaim some cred.

Any notable contributions worth checking out?

Not really. I thought Watson’s closing speech was pretty good. Gove was interesting in the sense he almost lost his shit, but he turns my stomach so I didn’t watch closely. Everyone else I listened to just said the blindingly obvious things along party lines (“will the PM take no deal off the table”, “will the PM go back to Brussels and negotiate the backstop”) which was deeply tedious and pointless.

Apparently we overwhelmingly want her to get on with it, the national interest aligns perfectly with her views, and my vote in the 2017 election was an endorsement of it all. Glad she’s cleared that up for me.

To summarise what's just happened to Vampira, "Your plan is shit and no matter how you dress it up, the parliamentary vote has shown that we all know it's shit and we're nowhere near backing you on it. However, we're not giving you an excuse to say you were pushed rather than jumping ship, so just sort it out. And by the way, we know Brussels won't offer you a better deal, so enjoy the fruits off your labour."
