It's a cheapy Russell Hobbs one, it cost a mere £21 but it was the only model the Co-Op had.

Let's see how long this one lasts.

Ex Mrs JC and I went through several expensive kettles and we soon realised that like much of everything else these days more money does not buy better quality.

Plus the water down here is terrible (hard) and smells like the sea. So it just wrecks anything water based. Like taps and stuff. It's all been replaced since I moved in and was done just before I did. Mum's is the same too.

Judging by all the work Christmas do's I've ever been on... It would have only taken a phone call from the wife to tell me the kettle was broken and I'd have gone home. Also, I don't drink tea.

You should really ditch that brick on the wall (especially if you are daisy chaining the 4 way on the floor from it)

I'm sure I read somewhere once that as long as the total load of the entire chain doesn't exceed anything that you'd plug into a single socket, it's OK.

Either way the house hasn't burned down in the last 11 years.

I thought that was true but kalmar once shouted at me about this but I didn't understand what he was saying. I can't find the post now, though, annoyingly.

I was once at a Tech Conference in Latvia that powered the main lecture hall with some horrific daisy chain of daisy chains of extension cords. I can only assume that the fuse was a bit of scavanged rebar or something.

And here's me being concerned about having 2 multi boards running from one double socket.

I think the general concept of that is true, but where it falls apart is that often you get multi-gang sockets and other adapters that are manufactured in places where they perhaps don't give as much of a toss about product quality and safety as we do here in GREAT BRITAIN.

So, a 13A multi-way plugged in to another 13A multiway, plugged into another, plugged into a 13A tri-socket adapter on the wall is perfectly safe until one of them breaks and catches fire ;)

And 4x4gb DDR4 to bring my main PC up to 32gb.

Got both very cheap, very happy. Started to find 4gb was holding me back at bit at 2560x1600

Actually the brick thing is simpler than that. Because of the weight of 3 plugs, cables and the brick itself it eventually half pulls itself out the wall until there's a tiny gap in the contacts. Then resistance and your walls on fire.

Yep, aside from the potential to draw more than 13A from the wall socket, the big risk is that the more plugs you have hanging together, the greater the chance of a loose or poor contact overheating and catching fire.

So you could unplug at least six of those, unless Sam uses the old consoles.

I took that task on when I got the XB1X earlier in the year and retired all the old stuff from the big telly. (The picture a bit earlier in this thread with the UPS is the DE-tangled hellscape.)

It was an absolute fucking disaster zone back there and it took a while to get done, but actually ended up very satisfying. There was a binbag full of retired cables and connectors and junction boxes and all sorts of other shit by the time I'd finished.

Actually I may have done it earlier than getting the XB1X for a different reason, but I can't remember, either way, the main point stands - once you summon the fortitude to get it done, it's somewhat worthwhile.

I started doing that when we got a new telly, took out quite a bit but got as far as the amp then realised that it was all working how I wanted, the rats nest of cables are hidden away and so best to just leave it be.

Every time I move, or get a new piece of kit, I think "this time it will be neat and tidy, i've seen the photos on the internet, I know it's possible to do".
Every cable is plugged in the best way possible, everything is hidden as much as I can, each wire is laid with a sense of dignity and purpose... Step back and admire my work and while I stood up, it seems someone came in and jumbled them all up into one huge tangle.

If I ever catch that slippery cable fucker, he is in big trouble.

I just tell myself that having them all in a massive jumble is better than having them all running neatly next to each other since it helps prevent any possibility of cross talk.

A Gtech Air Ram 2. Actually it was Mrs. W who bought it while I was working away, when our old Vax died. She’s suffering a bit with arthritis and was tempted by the Gtech because it’s supposed to be very light and she’s been having discomfort using the Vax.

She says it’s much easier to use, but after having it for about a month, the handle wouldn’t move from the upright position and we thought it would break if we pushed it too hard. We contacted Gtech and the said they’d send out a replacement yolk next day, with fitting instructions. It didn’t arrive next day, so we contacted them again. They apologised and said the delay was because os stock taking. Sounds like bollocks to me.

Anyway, the yolk turned up about three days late, and was a doddle to fit. It is indeed very light and easy to use, but inevitably feels a bit like a toy vac for that reason.

Yet another watch purchased. One of these https://www.revelot.com/collections/r7- ... e/R7-Watch
I'd seen them advertised on Facebook (no surprise because of my browsing history) and got one through Indiegogo at a pre-launch discount so it only cost $170.
For a nicely made automatic with a Miyota movement that seems entirely reasonable and it's got a lovely steampunk vibe to it.
