That is horrific. Didn't the staffies have their owners around? Good on you for getting involved... I'm not sure I would have been that brave.

It was horrible, the sight of that poor bloke on the ground trying to keep his little dog safe in his arms while the staffies were tugging at its legs. I probably should have hung around but I did an online police report thing just in case they need to speak to me or something but I can't imagine they will.

No, nobody seemed to know where they had come from. I don't know about brave, it was just so awful to see what was happening that doing nothing never seemed like an option. I'm definitely not one of those people who seem to be a magnet for these sorts of situations so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit surprised myself by the lack of any hesitation before running in. I'm just glad I had on my Clark's shitkickers and not a pair of skate shoes or something.

Just missed a call from plod at work. Hopefully I'm not going down for criminal damage to the staffies or something.

They just called for more details because nobody else had reported it and to give me a crime number because I was apparently assaulted by the poodle.

I'm a bit annoyed at myself for not staying and calling it in now. I've got no idea how the guy or his dogs made out or what happened with the staffies. I can't believe nobody else called the police, just thought it was such a scene and all those people around that someone was bound to.

Bystander Effect, innit? Well done for getting stuck in though.

One of my most vivid memories is being at the pub with my Dad when I was about 7 or 8 and seeing a bloke come in with his dog - a Golden Retriever, which was immediately set upon by another dog that was in the bar, which was also a Staffordshire Bull terrier. The owner of the retriever decided to try and separate the two dogs using his hands.

It was like a whirlwind of teeth, blood and screams.

Weaponised dogs that appeal to irresponsible idiots, what could possibly go wrong?

Sounds pretty awful Mark :(

I deeply mistrusted all dogs for a long time because of incidents like that that I've beared witness to. Since then I've met some really awesome dogs but I'm still quite wary.

I'm more wary of some breeds than others. Staffies in particular have the wherewithal to do a lot of damage and there's also a higher than average chance that their owners will be utter cunts.

Article up on the Gazette's website mate, sounds like the guy and the dog should hopefully be ok.

Been sent some facebook links this morning and chatted with some of the other people who were there. I've seen pictures of the poor little poodle that got the worst of it, he's going to live but has stitches all over. The guy who was walking them did get admitted to hospital, not sure if he's out yet. People have told me stuff about it that I literally have no recollection of, a lady told me that one of the dogs went for her and I kicked it away. I think I was quite possibly in almost as much of a frenzied state as the dogs.

The police have apparently identified the owners but nobody seems to know the outcome.

It's long past time Sony tore up their entire online infrastructure and started all over again; almost every time I need to do something on PSN it's a fucking shitshow. Tried to buy a new 12 month PS+ sub using the debit card on the account: got some random error at the end of the transaction. Tried to add a credit card as an alternative payment method. First it fails by asking me to select pictures on a CAPTCHA that it hadn't actually presented and then it just repeatedly failed claiming my credit card number isn't valid. Finally I tried adding funds to my wallet using the existing debit card. That says it's worked and even sends me a confirmation email but the wallet balance remains sitting at zero. Oh, and the second two things I attempted happen on a completely different site and domain from the actual PS account because of course they fucking do. It's all totally fucked and now I can't actually buy anything at all on the Playstation store, so I guess I'm not playing downloaded games ever again?

I've often had issues like this with the website. Using the console itself not so much.

I was going to try that but on the console version of the store they're charging the full £50 for the year's sub, whereas on the website it's £35. Useless fuckers.

Lol, I ended up going into the settings on the PS4 and adding £40 to my wallet then using that to buy the PS+ sub on the website. What a fucking embarrassment.

Huh. That should probably be deployed using a repeatable script, then maybe everything wouldn't be on fire right now.

I didn't physically watch, it was just a shorthand way of describing the situation while making it clear that the 'someone' in question wasn't me.

Not sure how many of your frequent Reddit all that much, but a couple of months ago, a guy posted this pic

Attachment:
5jncsuiuxds11.jpg

It's a sweet pic, that his other half painted for him. Quite memorable, it got quite a bit of traction on r/gaming and around the internet, but was then forgotten about (apart from the occasional repost). You might remember it?

Today the cousin of the redditor who posted it put up a message. The couple were killed recently in that limo accident that was all over the news.

I know I don't know the couple at all, but even that small link has made the tragedy hit home a bit more than I expected. Not sure why i'm posting this other than to say, yeah, that happened, and I don't really know what I think about it, other than sad.

Aran's cold of the last few days has turned into a nasty sinus infection so she'll be curled up at home on the couch rather than at my parents with me as planned tomorrow. :( She wasn't entirely sold on the full on Robertson family experience (she doesn't really do Christmas as such) but I think she was still looking forward to it; and I suspect she'd have enjoyed it much more than she expected once she got settled.

The worst thing is she was really looking forward to having someone to got out for a drink with on Christmas Eve for the first time in years (an old ritual she used to enjoy whenever she did go home to Ireland) and she got a bit upset when realising that plan was out the window. She'd perked up a lot by the time I left her flat today and was looking up films to download and whatnot, but she'll still be missed tomorrow.

That’s such bad news. Hopefully the symptoms are turning a corner. Hopefully you’ll be able to make it up by extending Christmas a few more days when you’re back.

Aran is such a beautiful name.
