Incredibly lengthy complaint email sent, now to try and get some money back from the hotel that's charged me twice, then maybe I'll get some sleep.

Chrome has a new design (rounded and circly, with changes to colours too) and I mildly dislike it, but not strongly enough to change to any of the other free alternatives available.

My phone tells me what percentage of battery each app or service has used.

70% battery left.
10% used on the screen
4% used on system
3% used on idle
A load of apps and services listed at 1 and 2% each.

When you add up the total usage it comes to... 23%!

Where is my other 7%! What have you done with it Google! Explain yourself Doccy G.

Rounding errors?

Failing that, I think most battery life accounting like this is (on some levels) an approximation. And the approximations might lead to error ie. not adding up to 100%.

I suspect it only shows a service if it breaches the 1% threshold.

Or Google are stealing my battery to power their built in surveillance service. I've seen Snowdon, I know what happens, wake up sheeple!

Our business is relocating next year to Leyland.

Old Leyland DAF headquarters, all getting revamped so that will be nice. Only trouble is it's an extra 20 miles a day for me.

Going to request a work from home day each week I think, happens for other folk here already so should be ok. Either that or more monies plz.

One of these (yellow) is a fake. Half the price of the other. Or twice the price of a similarly made Rucksack. Hey ho. So, I cancelled my card 2 weeks after ordering worried it was a scam, failed the security test* so I couldn't get another bank card and 3 days later the 2 fake bags (one is elsewhere) arrived in the post.

Taking a morning flight from Singapore on Qatar Air going via Doha - boooo.

However, it is acceptable to start drinking at 9am as it's definitely 9pm somewhere, right? And airports have no timezone.

Chose the sensible route. However, slept most of the flight to Doha so I’ve effectively just had a full nights sleep even though it’s now currently it’s 6.30 pm for my body clock , 1.3pm local time in this middle eastern dust bowl and 11.30am where I’m headed... I think that calls for a drink.

They love a good debate, airport security. "Ah, now that you mention it, that's totally fine." said none of them.

Rookie error there, MrChris - knowing what time it is. Order first, think about time second.

Pssht. Birmingham's a student town. I've been on a pub crawl through Birmingham town centre in a wig, high heels, and a maxi dress.

All this talk of video resolutions elsewhere got me thinking about audio.

I have a shiny new stereo with both a tuner and bluetooth.

Radio 3 broadcasts on DAB at 192kbps MP2 (sometimes 160kbps if the cricket's on), but streams at a far more modern codec at 320kbps online. If I take that stream and zap it over to the stereo using Bluetooth, would I get a noticeable improvement in sound, everything else being equal?

Or is FM still the best way to enjoy obscure modernist sounds and Petroc Trelawney's dulcet tones?

Yeah, you probably will. People have been complaining about DAB's low audio quality for almost as long as its existed (mp2 was already thoroughly obsolete when it launched.) Even assuming it gets re-compressed for the Bluetooth part (which it might or might not... life is confusing) it'll probably still sound better.

Echoing DocG, I notice a much improved sound at home when streaming through the Chromecast audio versus DAB on the same hardware.

Thanks! I like the idea of the Chromecast Audio as a longterm solution.

About the only benefit of DAB over FM is that Classic FM becomes listenable as its analogue signal has clearly been processed to be heard over a car engine rather than at home. Not that I listen to the commercial offering.

Except for Rob Cowan's show. And when I'm not open-minded enough to enjoy a modernist or 'world music' piece on the Third and just want some easy background stuff by dead nineteenth-century Germans. And the film and game music programmes are quite good. And...

I preferred your idea of reading it to me over the phone. If only so I could hear you try to pronounce all of the Swedish names! :D

Also, I forgot to get myself something for breakfast. So, breakfast:

I did check after you mentioned it. But it was £4 and there was no saying I was going to get more than a couple of chapters out of it (because I was so tired by that point) so I didn't bother I went to sleep instead. Good call though. :)

Hmm... Amazon music is £7.99 a month but would I get my monies worth out of it? I dunno.

I shall investigate further.
