It would be weirder if you weren't playing with your new toy.

I guess, but I'd had it a few days already and Wario Ware is hardly a 'deep' game, and I've had it before on both GBA and DS.

I do so love it though.

R-Type 2 looks pretty nice there but the art styler for R-Type 1 is fucking horrible. There's just something really cheap and generic looking about it

Yeah but no.

That was in MAME 15 years ago. (Or thereabouts.)

It's not even that good a game, really.

Some of the conversions are good, which probably helped. It's one of the best side-scrolling shooters on the Master System and Spectrum partly because of a lack of decent competition.

I’ve enjoyed them a great deal. The original certainly did some original things when it was released, plus I think the arcade graphics still look nice today and some of the music is iconic. I reckon R-Type Final is the best of the bunch though which is irritating because we ain’t getting that. Fuckers.

Nintendo Direct announced some more details of the online service last night. The video above explains 5 great features of the online service. They are:-

1. You can play online with your friends
2. You'll be able to play a load of NES games. Online too.
3. Cloud saves
4. The Nintendo mobile app does some stuff including voice chat (They're scraping the barrel now)
5. Special offers (to be revealed online)

All this doesn't sound fantastic really but, the service is only £20 a year. I think I can stump up £20 to play Super Mario Bros 3, Ice Climbers and Excite bike on the lovely Switch.

I’ve yet to take my switch online for MP so it doesn’t really affect me but the paucity of the “features” of this service are depressingly poor though.

It worked quite well for online play v randos but I can't imagine it's great for squadding up.

I reckon Nintendo still think that this internet thingy is just a fad and will pass eventually.

I agree, the details aren't great so far but then I was thinking that Xbox live is £40 a year and up until recently, that only paid you to go online and play with your friends. Admittedly, it's a much more robust system but still.

More robust, a notable improvement over existing systems and significantly more user friendly.

This is very poor value compared to Live or PSN, tbh.

Which makes sense as they'll only really be used for the NES games which are only available to those that buy Switch online.

Shit! If you stop paying for the Nintendo online they delete your cloud saves. By comparison, if you stop paying for PS+ you can come back within 6 months and they’ll still be there.

Seems fair to me. Why should Nintendo store data at a cost to them?

I reckon they should delete a random games data every now and then just to keep people on their toes.

I've just been thinking and if it does delete your cloud saves, surely it'll just back them back up next time you sign up for the online service?

It’s Nintendo. It’ll probably download the blank cloud state and overwrite your save games. And people will thank them for this chance to play through Odyssey again.

Here’s something interesting (well, it amuses me), I brought CoD’s MW3 and BLOPS 2 on Thursday and installed them on my Xbox 1 X.

Thanks to the Cloud when I came to boot them both up my progress on both of the multiplayer games was saved from years and years ago, despite not having an active Xbox subscription for years and years after getting a PS4 also years ago. Now, that’s impressive service. That information must have been stored, what, for 5-6 years or something daft.

That's more likely to be Activision's servers than Microsoft though.

You are correct. Primarily due to 3 years of it being insanely overplayed while at university.

That was a great joke though.

And regarding the online thing. I really wonder if they don’t see that showing those Nes games sp prominently makes the a bit a laughing stock. I mean. They must have done some market research regarding the lerceived value of them, surely. Or has the succes of the NesMini blinded them?

But het. Animal crossing is coming!

I dunno, if someone gave me the choice between those 4 Xbox games or Super Mario Bros 3 on it's own, I think I'd pick Mario.

Tell me about it then, do you get all those games now for £2? Are they going to change at any point in the future and if so when? Is it just NES games?
