After a long day of squabbling, codes, accusations and idiocy, the town finally reach a decision. Mr Russell must die. He is taken to the gibbet with a surprising lack of fuss, and a mere reminder that he is good. He drops, he swings, he dies. The town confidently search his corpse, and only find a badge. Oh dear.
