Even if it were true (which it isn't) it would be a ludicrously risky strategy given how quickly a pile-on can happen early in the game.

I don't know who to vote for - has anyone not posted yet?

How can people be seriously talking about collusion? This is BLIND SCUM, nobody knows who anyone else is and that surely has to mean the Mafia don't know each other either? If it doesn't then it's pretty much just another regular game...

Like I said, I was just thinking out loud, throwing theories out, and them shooting them down as I thought of reasons to do so.

It just seemed odd to me at first that SG would do that, but on the second thought it's not, he's just picked someone at random.

Mostly I'm just speculating, to see what people say about stuff (and what they don't say)

it might not show anything now, but later on it just might (if people have changed their tune or whatever)

The only two weapons we have as members of an ignorant mass are looking at the voting/talking patterns of other people.

The only person I've not seen is Nik, but then he has different sleeping patterns to the rest of us or something!

The mafia have to know each other, don't they? Otherwise how can they be a mafia? This is blind, not amnesiac.

Oh, and to the people voting for me. Seriously, stop and think for a second. We always vote for the people who talk and participate the most, because they are first in the mind, but it always turns out to be the wrong decision. If you vote for me today, then tomorrow you'll see that was stupid and then completely reverse and vote for a quiet person, which will also backfire, the town will be down at least 4 good people as always, and the mafia will win again. How about we actually vote by reading what people are saying and thinking about it this time, eh?
I have been talking, I've been actively pushing to get people involved and voting, I have been clear on my reasons for doing that, I have answered any questions asked.
Am I OCD about stats and voting patterns? No fucking shit, do you not know me? :D. Plus it's the only way for the town to win, it's the main source of information we have, so use it!

At this stage it is just a matter of typing in a name and seeing what that tells us...

Numbers, names and patterns people, numbers, names and patterns.

So, three Mafia, one SK, one Cult leader, one ...?

At the size of town we have, I would say more likely 4 mafia.

The bad guys nearly always pop into the thread a bit on day one because their interest has been piqued by an interesting PM. So silent ones are usually a bad lynch... IMO we're looking for someone who has turned up, said a little but nothing really memorable and then floated off. I'm tempted to stick with my vote for sdg, and also tempted to vote for Nik because he thinks Trooper's careful analysis is suspicious and to be honest that is so absurd that I want him dead for that even if he's good so at least there's one fewer idiot running around the place. But in light of the above, I'm thinking Squirt or Faerie is a likely candidate. So I'm happy to get on any of those bandwagons. [vote:squirt] for now, since he already has a vote to his name.

It's worth noting (I hadn't spotted it) that we're on a 1:30pm deadline. That means just this morning to get something up and running. With that in mind, I'm going to go in on the [vote:Trooper] - because we've got sod all information, so anyone's as good as anyone else.

Even after all that? Jesus.

[vote:squirt] as at least we'll have a chance of getting rid of a scum, rather than the 100% certainty of getting rid of a townie by me going.
However, my fos is pointed at:
Bobby for reasons already stated
Sdg, as I agree with Alberto, just not his outcome.
Nickachu, for being an idiot.

Craster I'm not sure about, but not enough to fos.
Grim... Is just an idiot, but I don't think he is bad, even though he started this bandwagon.

If you idiots do actually vote me out, then please please look at past history and look at this list, don't just go for a quiet one next as you always always do...

After all my solid reasoning and justification.
I was only 2 votes ahead and still well under 50% of the total needed, and we still have 4 hours left to go. It was hardly the push for end that you seem to want people to think.

We're always low on turnout in the morning, and it's an unexpected middle of day timeout. We know there's people that are only here in the evenings, so their votes are lost. I'll be surprised if we make it to 11, whoever's up for the lynch.

ok

Code:
Blind Scum Day One

VOTE UPDATE

gazchap: 1 (Mr Russell)
malc74: 1 (Slightly Green)
grim...: 1 (Ian Fairies)
squirt: 3 (zaphod79, Alberto, Trooper)
trooper: 5 (Grim..., Bobbyaro, nickachu, Malc74, Craster)

Not voted: 9 (davpaz, malc, kovacsc, gazchap, thefirefaerie, goddess jasmine, thevision, squirt, sdg)

With 20 players alive, 11 votes are required for a lynch, and 11 nolynch votes are required to not lynch anybody.

Although we need eleven votes, so I'd be surprised if it happened -we've only had 11 people voting so far in total.

Even though I hope we get a lynch today, we might hit a bad guy if we are lucky, I get the feeling we don't have enough on to lynch. I am around this morning so will change my vote closer to the deadline. I have no idea what so ever about who is dodgy or not yet so don't see any point speculating on all the random chatter.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
Since we have so few people active (which is fine when people can only play sporadic but we want the numbers) would it be a idea to change the votes needed ratio a bit so we can have lynchs with less people? Could put the game at risk of band wagons more but would add a element of speed to the game....just a thought. Obviously not this game :) just a idea for future games

Makes it too easy for mafia/cult to force a lynch if you reduce the ratios

Innocent people protest loudly when they're extremely frustrated about clear idiocy. All the reasons people have given for voting for Trooper have been weak and in some instances outright nonsensical, and given that he thinks we're all shit at scum games anyway (which I'm inclined to agree with) I'm not surprised he's doing his nut!

Squirt is only one switched vote away from tying Trooper as well, a choice I have made based on semi-psychological reasoning rather than a "oooh, you say you're a good guy, that's exactly what a bad guy would say!" style of horseshit. So it's not a foregone conclusion that it's Trooper or no-one.

But it is patently obvious that it isn't the wrong decision to lynch on the first day. I really want to know what you think is going to happen tomorrow if we don't vote someone off today? Will there be a magic pixie that comes and points out a bad person to us? Or will we just be in exactly the same position as we are now, but with 2 less townies. Yes, there is a chance we will hit a townie, but the chance of success is better than certain failure.

I'm sorry for protesting my innocence, funnily enough i'm doing it so vociferously because i'm right and I want the town to win.

Tell them you're the Mafia Don, or something.

Are we even sure there is some Mafias? It would be pretty funny if we're all just townies and we just lynch ourselves to death over a unfortunate accident.

I'm going to assume that there is a townies "special" or two as well, so in lynching we risk really screwing ourselves over by killing or forcing a reveal of a goodie.

I... what?

I'm saying, as I always have been saying, and will continue to say, that it is more important that we take the chance of killing a scum, rather than the certainty of not killing one and being in the same position tomorrow. Obviously the certainty of voting off a townie trumps all that and shouldn't be done, which is why people shouldn't vote for me. I thought that was rather obvious, but it seems people need it spelled out :D

Still don't trust you troops, the stench of fine italian leather is oozing off you. You're just trying to deflect any attention away from you with the same old arguments of "we always vote for the talkers". Sometimes it's justified, sometimes it isn't. I've just got a hunch judging on what you're said so far that you're not one of the good ones.

You haven't always said that at all. You've been wittering on about voting patterns and "information" and shit.

Obviously the certainty of voting off a townie trumps all that and shouldn't be done, which is why people shouldn't vote for me. I thought that was rather obvious, but it seems people need it spelled out :D

Right, but given that you're in the same position as everyone else, namely that there's no reason for anyone to believe you, you must agree that from the perspective of everyone here voting for you is just as sensible as voting for anyone else would be?

And if you read those cherry picked posts in context with all the others. It is pretty obvious to me i'm talking about voting to take the chance of killing a scum ALONG WITH the voting giving us information. That's how we get the information, by finding out who people are and looking back at how they voted. We only find out who people are after they are gone, unfortunately.

Without anything else to go on, sure. But we do have other things to go on, we have what people have said in this thread. We have people who have talked, made arguments and backed them up with logic and reason. We have others who have voted with not logical reasoning and in some cases actively against logical reason.

Oh totally. Because the real giveaway of a bad guy is that they are incapable of using logic and reason.

I think Trooper is making sense, certainly compared to most people. That's enough reason for me to prefer lynching somebody else.

I'm also interested when Grim... will get round to answering my earlier question (which Trooper has sort of posed indirectly too) - if we no lynch on day 1 just because the odds are against us hitting a bad guy, logically we should also not lynch on subsequent days until the bad guys outnumber us, which is clearly folly... so when in Grim...'s no-lynch gameplan DOES it make sense to start lynching? What are we waiting for to switch the balance back towards lynching? I can't endorse a plan for day 1 without it also having some sort of strategy for the days thereafter, sorry.

Unfortunatly, you're confusing that with "not being a bad guy".

About 18:09 yesterday. It was a clear gameplan with only one flaw.

Tomorrow we'll have actual information about who people were - at which point we'll actually have something to go on. Right now it's pure speculation.

I'm on the lynching bandwagon.

You don't have to unvote before you vote again (although it doesn't matter if you do).

Actually, it's worse than that - right now it's a completely random person I picked to test the vote counter :S

Speaking of the vote counter, it says:

VOTE UPDATE

malc74: 1 (Slightly Green)
trooper: 5 (Grim..., Bobbyaro, nickachu, Malc74, Craster)
squirt: 7 (zaphod79, Ian Fairies, Alberto, Mr Russell, Trooper, DavPaz, GazChap)

Not voted: 7 (malc, kovacsc, thefirefaerie, goddess jasmine, thevision, squirt, sdg)

With 20 players alive, 11 votes are required for a lynch, and 11 nolynch votes are required to not lynch anybody.
