For last night and the post this morning

Finally some voting, I thought this was going to be the quickest game ever if nobody voted, everyone would have been arrested!

I originally wrote pms, but that didn't look right either

If I'd stayed in the game without saying much I would have ended up being lynched probably, which would give the mafia an extra night to kill more people, so I figured bowing out gracefully would be the best bet. It's a shame as I would have liked to play this one, but with my workload as it is, I really don't think I could give the game the attention it so obviously deserves...

Hmm... I think I did the right thing in just deleting the extra posts after the cutoff, especially as it was a vote switch which affected the outcome. Leaving them in but ignoring them would have given the rest of the players info that they shouldn't have had.

I agree - however I also think you should have copied them somewhere else so they could be released afterwards - and you've now created a seperate group of those who *were* reading the thread at the end and can remember some / all of those posts and those who were not and therefore dont know.

If for example I was playing and thought 'oh Alarm is shifty because i remember things that were said about him yesterday' then checked back I would not have known.

As the game runner the choice is always yours to make - perhaps for the future days it might be worth getting someone else to lock the thread at the cut off point (Although since i think all of the mods are in the game right now one of them should have done it - if i'm in the game and can see the thread has not been locked I would often post a PM to a mod asking for it to be closed)

After I deleted them, I did think oops, should have taken a copy, but too late now

I was around at the cutoff time (well two minutes after!) so that wasn't a problem, and I usually do ask for another mod to lock if I know i'm not going to be around.

Part of it has to be on trust though, everyone knows the cutoff time, and you shouldn't post after it regardless of the thread being open or not, just as we trust people aren't talking behind the scenes when they shouldn't be etc...

We log all the posts, if you want copies of them.

I know - however its much easier to 'not notice the time' or to try and get a final word in by accident rather than actually 'cheat' in the game.

Gilly and others are making interesting points about the lack of voting from people - i wonder if handing people over to the cops on a majority vote is actually discouraging people from voting one way or the other - if they are unsure they can keep their 'hands clean' by not voting when they dont feel sure and therefore letting other people carry the guilt of voting for the wrong person ?

I agree. Once the game is over, it is worth seeing whether the voting experiment has worked or not, I think it'll come into play more towards the end of the game, but who knows.

It was worth a try, but currently I don't think that it has made much difference in terms of encouraging people to talk, and may actually be discouraging voting.

I agree - and i'm disapointed that it didnt make any difference - i'm trying to think back and the only 'odd' thing that worked was Grim... and Gaywood's "text message" thing , but that limited the talkative ones rather than encouraging the quiet ones.

I wonder if we could come up with some other artificial method to encourage them to talk (elecro shock theropy perhaps)

I thought it might be good to have a SK that could only kill silent people, maybe he has to choose from the 3 posters who has said the least, and eliminate one of them, maybe have it happen during the day rather than at night, for dramatic effect?

I think Mr Dom tried to do that as Q in the Star Trek game , unfortunatly we both argued and we both ended up dead rather quickly but I agree thats an idea - I'm not sure if that should be a totally published role otherwise you'll get people spamming the thread for no good reason just to get their post count up

Given the very short amount of time you really need the other 'silent' players to take a part in this - its either Davpaz or Craster , one at least is a bad person - you should be making your choice and voting - right now '3' votes in total could kill someone
