I have to admit, I've only been skim reading since I died. This is complex!

It's not as complicated as people are making it out to be, and a lot of people are making some wildly inaccurate assumptions.

Which, of course, amuses me.

Much easier when you know which roles people have from the off :)

Well, indeed, but that's the fun of Blind Scum!

Ignoring any discussions going on today, it's still a fairly even fight.

I've just read DavPaz's role description - I'd have absolutely loved that. I'd assumed 'Righteous Hand of God' meant he was allowed to kill anyone he thought evil, I didn't realise it was a maniacal KILL ALL role, haha, awesome.

I really enjoyed getting to play a vanilla - my first time in ages that I haven't been "something".

There goes Malc, another benign townie. I reckon depending on the killing tonight, the game might be wrapped up pretty quickly now.

Amusingly, given the presence of two anti-town factions, it was highly likely that an innocent would die, as it would be the only person that both teams would happily bandwagon.

That said, there's info out there, so who knows what will happen next.

Also, it's a bit tricky to know if someone is roleplaying well if you don't know the roles!

True; the role was essentially the SK, but with a burden to kill people who weren't participating or were being too 'meta'.

I have to ask... is Gilly aiming for 'highest characters per post' as a secondary win condition? :)

Ifkilling the head doesn't remove the recruitment ability, the rules are screwed. Unless there are many invulnerable people.

If we assume Lace is the carnie head, then he really needs to kill the mafia hitman in today's lynch, and he'd better hope it's Alarm. Without it, he's sunk. The mafia will kill him for sure tonight, and probably roleblock him for good measure.

If he strikes lucky and Alarm is the man, then it might be the carnie's game. No more hitman, and even if zaphod blocks him so there'll be no carnie recruitment tonight, its a fair bet zaph himself would go the next day, and then it's all over.

Otherwise it's a mafia win, no question.

I don't see why people think that the mafia blocker (if there is one) can't also kill people if he wants. I can't recall a game where only one member of the mafia could kill anyone.

Also, until APOD's radio chatter, I wasn't even sure there was a mafia.
I'm still not 100% convinced.

The game could still genuinely fall to a victory for any remaining win condition.

Unless the rules in the games I haven't played in have been radically different, that's always been the case. One roleblocker, one hitman, a couple of powerless goons good only for blockvoting.

The day is over. I'm interested in the result. Even money there's no mafia and its actually invading aliens in human form. With roleblockers.

Ok, one goon down, but with no kill ability.

Lace is dead, fo sho. If he's the carnie head, depending on recruitment success there might be an even number of town/mafia/carnie. Fascinating stuff.

Well oo-er, then.

[edit]I know it doesn't mean much, but the "official" rules don't mention it either, that I can find: http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Mafia

In Beex Mafia games, there have traditionally been more than one Mafia able to kill, and very rarely (if ever) have there been Mafia players without any abilities. Usually there's a pool of hitmen from which one is used each night.

Well slap my arse and call me charlie, having just skimmed the roles of the original games, I think I'm wrong :D

I think there must have been one game where this was the case, because it sticks in my head that we had an impotent mafia player left that had no hope because he couldn't kill? Might have just been the roleblocker.... erm. Yes, so, how about those night actions?

Go on then, people (other than former Mafia or Carney types) - of the people left, what are their roles?

zaphod79
ApplePieofDestiny
Joans
Trooper
sinister agent
Gilly
Mr Russell
LaceSensor
KovacsC

zaphod79 - Mafia Roleblocker
ApplePieofDestiny - Mafia Goon
Joans - Mafia Goon
Trooper - Townie/Carnie
sinister agent - Fuck Knows
Gilly - Townie/Carnie
Mr Russell - Townie/Carnie
LaceSensor - Townie/Carnie
KovacsC - Townie/Carnie

Of course, I now want the carnie's to win, as that was my last win condition before death =)

Good stuff sinister.

Can't believe the mafia didn't hit Lace. Perhaps its a seriously elabourate ploy and he's a mafioso. Hmmmmmm.

or the roleblocker is mafia and they're content to block Lace and let the town waste a lynch on him.

Seems inefficient. They'd need to be 100% sure he's the carnie leader to block him, whereas if he's just a recruited mong then they're leaving the leader free to recruit at will. Better to kill him now and find out either way.

The town must be the minority by now, there can't be more than 3 of them with potentially even numbers of carnies/mafia left. It teeters on the edge. I'm not sure how the town could effectively vote to lynch either mafia or carnie without getting fatally outnumbered by one or the other.

They should be. I'm guessing the mafia thought I was the carny leader, because they really should be going all out for his head right now.

I would've pushed the "joans is mafia" angle harder, but I wasn't sure enough, and figured it was best to go for someone I was quite sure was mafia.

I'd imagine Kovacs is mafia, then, if joans is. Failing that, I'd say Gilly is dodgy (though she's played a blinder), Lace and Zaphod too. As for recruits, well, bah.

This was a fun game! It's hard to keep the roleplaying up so late in, though :)

No. The mafia know Lace is the carny leader. They're roleblocking him while they kill off enough townies to hand them the vote.

Although our problem was that joans was putting too much information together and the only wriggle room we had was that no-one knew if Mr Russ was ever a townie.

I did like this post from Joans yesterday

Joans wrote:
I pretty much agree with all this, but we have to make sure we hit a mafia (or at least not a townie).

Your suspects are:
Zaphod79
ApplePieofDestiny
Alarm
Gilly
& Mr Russell

with everyone else (with the exception of LaceSensor) being a townie at some point in their existence, and therefore presumably, not a mafia.

Thats it - the 4 mafia plus Mr Russell - I was also concerned today that someone would try and look at the numbers and put 2+2 together to work out that the town needed a mafia kill and not a carnie kill

I did! :(

Although I wouldn't have been quite sure which one to go for, but the odds were pretty good either way.

From who was left I was already 100% sure Gilly was Mafia, with Zaphod almost certainly being a mafia roleblocker, so I investigated Russ and found out that he was a townie, but didn't want to name names. Unfortunately I was out all day yesterday, so didn't really have a chance to put any numbers together to work out how many carnies we were likely to have, and everyone else (well, Russ and Trooper anyway) was a bit too eager for blood.

Great game, thanks Curio :)
Russells posts were consistently brilliant and APODs roleclaim was wonderfully bizarre and nonsensical. Poor joans didn't have much luck finding mafia, we were lucky not to get found sooner.
