Day One - Sinister (Stormtrooper, lucky guess)
Day Two - Craster (Chewie, safe guess)
Day Three - Gilly (Palps (unconfirmed), probably saved someone's life there)
Day Four - Flis (Jedi, probably saved Flis' life)
Day Five - Lacesensor (unconfirmed Jedi, oops!) Was slaved.
Day Six - Nowt
Day Seven - Nowt

Day 3 he blocked our kill
Day 4 he protected Flis but I was already protecting her
Day 5 he blocked our question

It was more that he outed SA , saying that he was blocked which turned things against him , and that he said he blocked Gilly on a night with no killing - he could get useful information out - by killing him straight away he would not have :-)

I never said I was blocked. I said I knew who Ackbar was. I was utterly surprised that no-one called me on that one.

We worked it out, but didn't want to say in the main thread, it was obviously confirmed when you targeted craster.

One of our biggest problems at the start was not knowing that the person we targeted to roleblock would know about it. If we had, we'd have watched LS on day two and the fact he didn mention it would have meant we wouldn't have assumed him ST and instead killed him the next night. If he was protected the next night that would prove he was Jedi so we would have kept targetting him.

That does bring me back to that question of Grim... , why did you specifically ask for the person you targetted on night 2 (me) to come forward ? (okay I came forward mylself 1 minute before your post)

Oh right - you mean here: viewtopic.php?p=517244#p517244

Well, the rest of the post explains why. We were being a bit frantic in the badman camp because we didn't realise that Vadar's roleblock was broadcast, and we were trying to see if that had always been the case, of if Gazchap was "special".

Oh and if it helps , I wasnt sure if it was special or not , i was going along the lines of thinking you were only told you were blocked *if* you actually had an action to be blocked , me saying "i was stopped sleeping that night" was just me trying to cover and hopefully confuse things (although in this game it probably didnt need things being confused a bit more :-)

Paranoid? PARANOID!

Imagine being *forced* to reveal your role to someone *every night*.

I was considering just blocking SA every night just to minimise exposure.

TBH if i was Ackbar thats how i'd have started , especially after no kill that first night I would have stuck with him until someone came up that convinced me of something else.

I was also one of the people calling for you to claim at the end of the 2nd day after no kills overnight in case you had targetted Palps.

BTW looking at who was blocked and when I'd say there were very few night actions that were performed on non 'power' characters (although we'll get more of a feel for that when Curio has the night actions)

Unlucky or not, I still maintain that there's no way the Empire could have won that, the Jedi are simply too powerful.

For example, there's no reason at all for Yoda not to claim on day one, and simply lead the vote every day whilst being protected every night. With no investigate, the Sith wouldn't be able to find Obi-wan to stop him protecting Yoda each night. I was fully ready for a day one counter-claim as that's the only way the Sith could possibly win. Having an investigation role and the ability to talk about it to others is hugely powerful.

There's also nowhere for the bad guys to "hide", as seemingly all the roles are known by someone else at some point.

I did claim on Day 1

Actually looking at the numbers reveal that there were only 3 players with no named role. Kalmar, Gaz and Gos.

No wonder it was complex.

Unless I'm going blind, no you didn't.

Also, and this is nothing to do with this game specifically, but we need to figure out a mechanism for making people want to talk.
While I understand people can't be online all the time, the way I avoided being lynched on day (whatever) is simply because I shut the fuck up and didn't say a word.

Agreed - its something I was much more aware of this time around - there are dozens of posts I started / wrote and then didnt post because I thought it just makes me more visible and more of a target - i'd like to think i kept fairly quiet but I was very aware that not saying much was better for me and for the team than saying what I would normally say.

Sorry not roleclaim but hint about it :)

and yeah people need to talk more
I know I am no model player as I dont have a desk job, but I did my best.

Massive luck on the part of the Jedi.
Our claim that Bobby was a sith was 50:50 at best. But he was dodgy as hell for a few reasons I cant recall.

Think we did a pretty good job, other than only figuring Gilly out last night...doh.

Id have to go back but i mentioned shuffling around or something to hint at yoda with his walkign stick, and the blatant "expecting that, I was not".

Still dont know why I did it, I think I just like being "in character" even when its completely unhealthy.

Ill get to work copying all my night actions out in a sec...

Yip - the thing for that was that Gilly had blocked Yoda that night , so we didnt have an answer to the question , if we said that then they know they have blocked the right person and can continue to do so (we cant stop them blocking Yoda - or switching to block Luke and then kill yoda).

Thats why I come back to the game was perfectly winable for the Empire - it was just a lot of things went the right way for the rebels.

Night One (repeated on night 2):

/Meditates

The Force flows through all life and within me.
Clear, my mind must be if we are to discover the real villains behind the plot.
To my strongest ally, ask this I must:
These strangers, Malc, and Joans - on the Dark Side either resides? hmmm!?

/Meditates

Nighty Three:

/Puts down walking stick, and detaches lightsaber from belt, with a heavy sigh.

The force, strong with the Jedi is; but the Dark side, cloud everything it does.
The forsight once used with ease grows dimmer by the day.
Give me the strength to understand the allegiance of Bobbyaro and Grim...
Sith to rule the galaxy, their desire is?

/Rests...

Night Four:

/Mumbles to self something about "young Skywalker" and "Dagoba system"...

Always eager to please, young Skywalker is...
Hungry to face Vader, he is
Time later for that, there may be, but for now
all my energies must be focused on the Sith.

Fear the dark side, I do not.
For One with the force, I am.
Faith in the dark side, misplaced is..
Have either Malia or Sinister Agent faith in the Dark Side of the force?

/Continues meditation deep into the evening...

Night Five:

/Shuffles to meditation spot...crawls up...and sits down...hmmmmpppfff

Sorrow I feel not for Obi-Wans student
Anger, hate, all flowed through him, to his bitter end.
Always two there are, a Sith, and an Apprentice...
A disturbance in the Force, perhaps a new Apprentice, Sidious has...
Hmmmpff...care not do I for details of Sith ritual.
The Force is my ally, and strong with it I am

Many names have I pondered with the help of the Force
Once more, ask for help, I must
.................................
.................................
Of those names, Palpatine, amongst is?
If not, more meditation must I prepare.
But for now, I rest.

/Sleeps

Night Six:

/very busy tonight, Yoda is...

Hmmmppff..Ponder, I do. Yes.
Bobby
TheVision
APOD
Zeppo
MaliA

Sidious, amongst them, is?

Night Seven:

/Shuffles to makeshift "cot", similar to that on Dagoba...

Old am I, tired, yes.
900 years spent fighting The Sith, I have.
As once I failed before, now I must not
Palpatine, stopped must be

These strangers, Goddess Jasmine, Alarm, AppliePieOfDestiny
Do they all share the win condition "Rebel"?

/Sleeps, in fear.

Results were:
1 - roleblocked Force Grip
2- NO - so they were goodies
3- YES - so bobby or grim or both sith
4- YES - maliA or Sinister or both baddies
5- Ackbarrrred to hell
6- Force Grip
7- No, so one or more is the baddies

And you dont buy it , and everyone jumps in on why the questions asked are rubbish and we should be using theirs instead , and you think actually we probably did block Yoda and they are stalling so we'll block him again.

If you look at Lace's post - what our Investigator got us was :

Malc, and Joans are good.
At least 1 of Bobbyaro / Grim... are bad
At least 1 of Malia / Sinister Agent are bad
At least 1 of Goddess Jasmine, Alarm, AppliePieOfDestiny are bad

And you dont buy it , and everyone jumps in on why the questions asked are rubbish and we should be using theirs instead , and you think actually we probably did block Yoda and they are stalling so we'll block him again.

If you look at Lace's post - what our Investigator got us was :

Malc, and Joans are good.
At least 1 of Bobbyaro / Grim... are bad
At least 1 of Malia / Sinister Agent are bad
At least 1 of Goddess Jasmine, Alarm, AppliePieOfDestiny are bad

If I'd have joined the dark side at the very end of night 2, that would have scuppered things for you somewhat (in my guilt at least)

Malc

Why would people not have bought it, though?

What was the thinking behind asking about two people each time?

Yip - closer to the end we'd have been defending you saying you had to be good .....

Because of the err 'twisted' logic being employed at other points and the fact that people were rather forcefully saying what they would be asking as well (i'd have to go back and check but SA i think and Malc - all this "is X han" which sounds like a rubbish question to me)

Simply that if they were both good then thats easy to get rid of , if one was bad we could put pressure on them in the day, or try to kill one the next night (If luke ever actually got the chance to swing a lightsabre)

e.g on the final day before Gilly's outburst i'm sure Flis would have posted that one of Applepie / Goddess Jasmine / Alarm were bad and see what they said - see what anyone would dig out about them.

Whereas instead if we asked "is Alarm a baddie" , then its just a single bit of info and if its Yes then great - we know - if its not then we dont know what else to do - casting the net a little wider.

I'm not saying its a great way of doing things but it seemed to be working for us (although I do admit a lot of that comes down to luck).

Also, and this is nothing to do with this game specifically, but we need to figure out a mechanism for making people want to talk.
While I understand people can't be online all the time, the way I avoided being lynched on day (whatever) is simply because I shut the fuck up and didn't say a word.

I was thinking the other day of some special 'game actions' for a potential game. One was that on a predetermined day, a postcounter would lead the mob to autolynch the player who had posted least at a given time. Only the GM knows what time this is, so it keeps all players on edge and keeps them posting.

Another was a Full Moon rule, whereby on every 3rd night (say) majority rule wasn't required for a Lynch - the highest number of lynch votes at the end of the day would get the lynch, even if that was only two people.

Grim... and Gaywood sorta did that in the 'real life' one , where a single vote was enough to condemn / kill people.

One other suggestion would be that the 'day' continues until everyone has voted (or selected no-lynch) and the top person goes (or you could put a very long delay in there but say anyone who has not voted needs to have done by X otherwise they will be kicked)

Wait, shit. I protected GillyPalps on night 3? Woops. Sorry!

Also from what i can see you protected a baddie on the first night (SA who would have been killed by Luke and would have told us that Gilly was the big bad on day1!) , and on the night you blocked Flis she had targetted Bobbyaro so that was another baddie protected.

So you protected the baddies 3 nights , were locked up for 2 , and blocked the Jedi's question for one.

And despite that gave out some of the key information in the game (about visiting SA and Gilly)

For my part, everything worked better than I hoped. :)

I did lay a few clues as to my identity, the first words I said were in Jar-Jar speak, I said I was good twice, I said it would be a mistake to kill me, they were quite subtle hints though.

My plan was just to try and use a classic early lynch against everyone, and hope that the fact I was a relative noob at the whole mafiascum thing would mean no-one would spot it.
Classic lynch being:
Talk a lot, its always the more vocal that get killed in the first few rounds.
Make a "mistype" and try to play it off as nothing.
Accuse others with no real justification.
Make a poor argument to save myself.
Then just keep quiet and let everyone convince each other.

It was just luck that Grim... picked up on my size comment, and then everything fell into place after that.

Seriously though, my roleclaim defence post was just ludicrous, i'm offended you all thought that was the best I could come up with! :D I had to jump in with that quick though, as Mr Russell (I think) had just posted that maybe I was Jar-Jar, so I wanted to get that off the page as quickly as possible!

Well played everyone, especially Trooper! Brilliant roleclaiming by Gilly there, too.

I'ma catch up on this thread, but first, I feel I owe Flis, Gilly and Zaphod an apology, as I was needlessly SHOUTY AND RUDE with my arguing on my last day. I hope I didn't bother anyone.

Right, catching up now.
