Dom makes a good point. There's no win condition change when someone gets impregnated, so there's nothing to stop them owning up, making the recruiting a bit of a non-starter.

Maybe the marines/colonists (except Gorman) should be given a secondary win condition of 'Survivor' to avoid that?

If someone gets impregnated, it's in their interest to own up and get 'lynched', meaning that the aliens will never gain another recruit.

Its up to them

Either they become an Alien, which would be cool
or they leave the game.

Kinda depends what personality it is. If it was me, and I was drawn as a colonist, and got impregnated, Id join the Aliens to extend my game and have some killing / investigating fun

But they're still a colonist at that point, and subject to the colonist's win condition. Also, at only 2, the aliens start off weak - I'd be reluctant to join a weak side.

Either join a weak side or "die" - its just a choice, I dont mind which people take really.
If the Aliens gain momentum they become more powerful, otherwise the aliens can treat there game like an SK, with a backup plan (ie the WArrior gets killed, so the queen tries to make another one).

And it could be 3, dependant on Fencesitter.

Then again the rules could just be a mess and the game will end shitly, I dunno.
even if they aliens all get taken out, the game will still be good though I think, itll just be masons vs townies of sorts

No worries, just pointing it out - don't forget that with the rules as they are, dying is no barrier to winning.

Dont understand.
Dead = Lose in all cases.

Only a semi victory if your faction is in the end victorious, but you died along the way.

That's not the rules of MS. You should state that if you want it to be the case.

That was what I meant when I said the good guys should have "survivor" as an extra win condition - they have to survive to win.

OK well ive been wrong all along then
I assumed if you were voted out or died or whatever you lost.

Nah, the idea is that people will sacrifice themselves nobly for the good of the team.

No problem to add in a rule saying you have to survive to win, even at this stage of the game.

There is a secondary win condition of survive is that not sufficient?

Well, not really. Your primary win condition is more important than your secondary, right? So if sacrificing yourself helps your team win (your primary win condition), you'll do it?

Just add it to all the primary conditions. Add a good dose of selfishness into the mix.

I could do but noone else has raised this and Im not sure anyone has noticed / is concerned about it
I think I'm happy how it is. Its a bit pedantic. If you get fachugged, just choose. If they out themselves and the group "kills" them, then when the game is over, ill just tell them they lost. if the colonist faction wins, they get an honourary mention.

Fair enough - your game, your rules. I think you'll piss people off if they die through noble sacrifice, only to find they've lost when the rules don't say that.

Sure it is - because it's a team game. Unless you're an SK or similar.

That's fine! That's normal rules. If you die and your team wins, you still win. But you do get the problem of every facehugged human volunteering as a sacrifice :0)

Not played a game in AAAGES so i dunno who you vote for.

Squirt looks to be semi doomed....big loss for the game if that happens.
His first post was a classy blunder tbh

Still, it was a random doctor, not an team based doctor, so it kinda levelled the playing field. Woulda been nice to have in the game though.

Hello guys!

I must say I FOS Grim..., but being vocal doesn't mean he's a bad guy as we all well know. Needs a couple of days for things to play out a bit more really.

Im just upset with the way im running the game

I think it was too ambitious for sure and let my fondness of the genre make the rules too complex.
The last minute change on the marines fechugg-ability doesnt seem to have helped either.
but to me it makes sense. if a marine becomes and alien , but its still in contact with the other marines, it woulda been really messy with motion trackers failing and firefights not happening.

c'est la vie, you live you learn

Ah, don't worry. It's a little confusing atm, but entertaining. Just let it play out and see what happens.

There are lots of things about a ruleset you won't learn until the game is played out though. The first few scum games were all learning experiences. I really wouldn't beat yourself up about it, just clarify things as and when you might need too. It's a good game. :)

Theres one thing to be said for complicated rules however - misinformation

kalmar wrote:
if you are right, and if SDG turned out to be the queen, then that's both the alien team and the company team out without a chance.

Lets just be 100% clear here. If the Queen dies the Aliens dont lose, just the same as the Company can still win with Burke out the picture.
Alien win condition is everyone else is host or dead.

But if the alien queen is dead with (likely) only one warrior remaining, they've pretty much lost.

That's why I said likely - as you said you'd cut out a few roles, I rather think the fencesitter would have been one you'd leave out.

Even two alien warriors isn't much of a force to be reckoned with.
